Miramar At Waikiki, Honolulu

We were looking for a hotel near but not ON Waikiki Beach (couldnt afford those prices). What we found was the Miramar and we couldn't have been happier. We had a oceanfront room (I say that meaning it looked directly onto Waikiki Beach, even though there are some highrise hotels blocking parts of the view). We didnt use the pool, but had a few drinks at the pool bar. Location was great--right near Int'l Marketplace and bus line is out the front door. The front desk staff and valets are friendly and went out of their way if we needed anything out of the ordinary. In and out parking ($10 a day). We rented a car from a hotel 2 blocks away--easy to drop off when done and walk back to the hotel. Being a woman, I had no worries walking to and from the beach alone--and my husband had no problem saying 'no thank you' to the 'ladies of the evening' that seem to walk the sidewalk in front of the hotel. LOL The front of the hotel faces away from the beach. There are numerous gift shops and restaurants (Chili's and Denny's to name a few) right near by. The lobby is spacious and airy (no 'doors' to speak of, just walk right in from outside). The nightclub had a cover the night we decided to go, but we didnt pay and left instead. The gift shop was abundant with your every need, although the little grocery across the street was cheaper. Our room had a refrigerator in it to keep those Corona's cold. Sitting on the lanai with a cold one, looking at Waikiki Beach, was one of my fondest memories. I seriously have no negative things to write about this hotel. I even booked a room for my Danish friends who went there the following year and stayed in our same room.

We loved staying at the Miramar! For the price and location, it was great! It was right next door to the International Market place and only 1 block from the beach. And lots of good restaurants within walking distance. The hotel itself was clean. It was perfect for us because we travelled with our 1 1/2 year old daughter. One of the requirements we told our travel agent was we needed a bath tub to give our daughter a bath. Not only did the Miramar have a bath tub, they also had a handheld shower which was an added bonus! The other thing that we liked was the Miramar had a wading pool area in their pool. It was perfect for our daughter to run around (she's at that stage where she wants to be independent). She had such a good time! This hotel is not a 5 star hotel but for the price and location, it can' be beat! We had other family staying at the Waikiki Beachcomber and our room was the same size but a lot cheaper. The only thing I have to complain about was the view but we didn't pay for that so we didn't mind it at all. If you want a hotel with a prime location (not on the beach) and your on a budget, i'd definitely recommend this hotel. Oh and one more thing... parking at $10/day is a deal! All other hotels charge atleast $15/day.

We go every year to Oahu and we have always stayed at the Miramar, it is located in the perfect spot with 24-Denny's, food pantry (grocery store-A MUST is the Haupia [Coconut] Cream puffs @ Bearded Papa)across the street, buffet across the street and two blocks from the beach and the international market place next door. I am picky person and we have gotten clean rooms, a little dated, but who is in their hotel room most of the time...Not Us! and why spend the EXTRA money on staying on the beach...The only concern is if you go walking around in the evening, you may get accosted by ladies of the night...That is the only down about the location, but it makes no difference to me, because we are usually out and about or in our hotel room by then..

Stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks, could not wait to leave. We have stayed in lots of hotels and this is the 1st bad one. We stayed in our 1st room 3 nights had bugs every night, complained and they moved us to another room what an inconveinence,did not see any bugs. Buffet breakfast was boring same thing everyday. Not a good location. Hotel needs to be knocked down and rebuilt. Would not recommend!!!!!!!!

The beds were too soft. Time to change mattress. There were some ants and cockroaches in the room. They came out at night. I only saw them in the evening. I end up killing ants and cockroaches each night. The tv had a line in the middle. We book for 3 in a room and after the 2nd night, the room cleaner put 2 bottles of shampoos, lotion and soap. The 4th night only two towels. Had to call the Front Desk to deliver the 3rd set. One day one bottle of the lotion only had half bottle. On top of this we put a small tip for the room cleaner. The location of the hotel is great.

we stayed at the Miramar in July/06. We found it clean ( cleaner than the Waikiki beach hotel) and very close to everything. We were 4 adults and 2 children and loved it. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to be central waikiki beach, close to restaurants and the food pantry is across the street to pick up fruit and sandwiches for the beach. Makes a less expensive food bill. Compared to other hotels we have stayed at, for value this one is a winner Canada

LOVED BEEING CLOSE TO EVERY THING.THE FOOD WAS GREAT.COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER SERVICE.I WILL BE BACK.GREAT HELP WITH BUS TOURS.I WAS THERE FOR MY 60TH BIRTHDAY.HAD A PROBLEM WITH SWEELLING OF MY FEET,THEY SENT ME ACCROSS THE STREET TO A DRUG STORE,FOR WATER PILLS AND THE LADY AT THE FRONT DESK,CHECKED ON ME EVERY HOUR OR SO.A.FROM WISCONSIN.

Dislike: The place is filled with mold. It smells and when we were leaving they were litterly painting right over the mold. I have stayed in many hotels and never have I had such a terrible impression. The rooms were dated back to the early 80's and the air conditioner was never working properly. There was mold on the ceiling and walls in the bathroom. Very disappointing. Likes: The Location is fabulous as you are close to pretty much anything you could need or want. If you are a picky person regarding cleanliness this is not the hotel for you.

i loved everything. location. service. convenience to shopping and services. the breakfast buffet was to die for. it was a girls fun trip in 07 and so perfect that we girls will return again this year. thanks for your excellent hospitality.

Staff was very friendly and informative. Rooms were cleaned well. We can't wait to come back. We really enjoyed the 24 hour Denny's & the Pool. We were there on a business trip so we did not get much sight seeing done. We plan to come back to sight see and wil be staffing with you then also.
