I suppose it gets better than this, but I'm not sure how!

My wife and I spent the week of Aug. 11-18, 2006 at the Kahana Beach Resort on an Interval timeshare exchange. We had read the diverse reviews of the resort, and didn't quite know what to expect. Although it is true that the resort is smallish, not ornate, and there were a few carpets that could have been cleaner, it is hard to imagine a more pleasant week. We were lucky enough to get a one-bedroom unit (about twice the size of a studio). It was very large, comfortable and fully equipped. The views from the two balconies were spectacular (including the special "aloha" of a double rainbow over the ocean on our last day). We went to a few local restaurants, but I think that the most pleasant place to eat was the balcony just outside the kitchen and livingroom. There is not much to see within walking distance of the resort, so I would recommend renting a car and going to Ka'anapali beach and Lahaina. Ka'anapali is only a couple of miles away, and is certainly one of the most beautiful beaches that I've ever seen. Be sure to snorkle there because the reef almost meets the beach, and it's teaming with brilliantly-colored fish. If you don't want to drive, the resort also has a nice swimming beach. Lahaina is a touch farther away, and it's where the action is. The para-sailing and submarine ride that departed from Lahaina will be forever etched in my memory - beautiful! The best non-Lahaina activity was a bicicle ride from the top of a 10,000 ft. volcano. This was an equally spectacular experience. All-in-all, I have to say that our week at the Kahana Beach Resort couldn't have been much better. The activities desk is a big plus. . . Danelle was very helpful in working with us to book great things to do.
