Need my Hale Koa fix
By cbees, 12/26/09
Like evrything. You don't need to go anywhere to shop, haircut, rent car, rent equiptment for beach, food, drink. The px on grounds has the cheapest souvenier shop in town. Grounds are great with all the pools and the beach. Been four times want four more.

Best Value in Waikiki
By KellyR, 11/19/09
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We had a deluxe oceanfront room and it was amazing. I cannot say enough good things about the amenities at this hotel. The spacious grounds, the restaurants, the location, etc. are all great. The beds and linens are not the height of luxury, but for the price I don't mind. We are going back in January and looking forward to it!

Hale Koa is beautiful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/09
The Hale Koa is as good as any Hyatt we have stayed in and being with the military allows this hotel to have 72 acres of paradise. You don't appreciate the beach or grounds until you walk down the beach and see tiny beaches for thousands of guests. It is incredible how much space the Hale Koa has compared to all of the other resorts. Pool is big but no character--no waterfalls or plants around it to make it feel tropical. Bibas is great--pizza is better than the North End in Boston. 10 meals for under ten are awesome. Chicken pot pie was amazing! Kokos is great for breakfast. $5.95 for amazing buffet for kids. You get to make your own waffles, a chef makes omlettes and it is all good. Our room in the Ilima tower was new, clean, pretty, has a coffee maker and small fridge--very nice. Luau is lots of fun and a great tribute to our military at the end. Aloha

A little piece of heaven
By LEONETTE, 08/10/09
I liked everything about the Hale Koa, except for the noisey unit outside my room (it made it hard to enjoy sitting on the balcony). Never the less, everything else was fabulous and I look forward to coming back, again, and again, and again!

My wife (girlfriend in Hawaii) and I love it! After serving in the Air Force for over 20 years, this is a great hotel in the party town, of course North Shore has the wonderful sexy beaches

A slice of heaven on earth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/09
This was our first trip to Hawaii; we went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and see the sights. We had a marvelous time and one of the unexpected highlights was the Hale Koa Hotel. The place is beautiful; the staff is professional and helpful; our room was perfect. The room was advertised as having a partial view of the ocean; when we stepped onto our lanai; we had a spectacular view of the ocean. We spent a week on Oahu and enjoyed every moment. The Hale Koa, perfectly located on Waikiki Beach, is an outstanding bargain for the military and the value cannot be matched. We enjoyed the restaurants, the pools, the gorgeous setting, the activities; we have only compliments for the Hale Koa and look forward to returning in the near future.

We'll be back every opportunity!
By Jo M, 06/18/09
We can't count the number of times we've stayed at the Hale Koa. We love this hotel and stay there several times each year. The staff is professional and honest. Recently, my husband left an expensive watch in the room. The hotel mailed it to our home in Texas. The beach and scenery are spectacular (best beach in all Hawaii). The pools are beautiful and well-kept. My husband was at Ft. DeRussy when the cabins looked like grass huts so we love to see the upgrades that are made between each of our visits. We often bring our children and grandchildren with us on our trips to Hawaii and they love staying there also. We've celebrated Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Anniversaries, Christmas and other holidays at the Hale Koa. They provide a wonderful atmosphere for all occasions. The Welcome Brunch sponsored by the Tour Personnel gives the visitor an overview of all available activities (with great pricing). Please don't miss the Luau and Magic Show for both are great. The convenience of the well stocked BX is a tremendous bonus to a great vacation experience. Any price comparison to other Waikiki hotels proves this hotel to be a great value.

BEAUTIFUL
By Tanya, 06/16/09
It was awesome! I took my parents to the Hale Koa and I was so surprised how beautiful the hotel was. The restraunts were great and too the people complaining about the prices, we paid an extra 20 dollars a plate outside the hotel for the same taste. The rooms are basic but who goes to HAWAII for the rooms. We had a partial ocean view and it was great. STOP COMPLAINING PEOPLE! The Bars are nice and not to over priced. Location is great, we could walk to the strip and do the all the shopping you want. Great staff and people. Now just married me and my wife are heading back in a couple months, I cant wait!

Great place, some amenities could improve.
By JRED, 06/07/09
Love the location but think that the organization could look at making a few more options available to the Soldier's and their families (registered guests) at no additional cost. The below are only issues if you are staying for while. (We've only stayed at one other Army Family Recreation Center to make a comparison.) 1. We have to pay for internet,$10 per 24 hour period per laptop, there is no free wi-fi zones of any kind and believe it or not the business center charges as well. 2. There are no dvd players in the room so be sure to bring something to connect to your TV - they do have the proper connections. The movies cost $10 on the hotel movie pay channel. 3. The parking charges $7 a day - not bad really, but surprised there isn't something in place for guests. 4. There is no refrigerator in the room. There is a cooler/chiller box that will keep non-perishables. They have community microwaves available on the 3rd floor only. 5. There are 2 pools here, 1 pool for guests and any military.gov't I.D. card holder and another pool for hotel guests, 18 yrs old and above, only. We, as a family, have no option when the other pool becomes crowded and full of unsupervised and wild children, even as a paying, registered guest.
