We will be back next year 2013!
By JeanneP, 3/25/12
My husband and I loved the location it was right on Wikiki Beach wonderful boardwalk along the beach nice easy safe walking anytime of day or night. The grounds of the Hotel were beautiful so well maintained lush and green! You would never have to leave the all was right there : pools loved the adult only pool free water arobics each morning ,exercise room, clean sandy ocean beach, large beach towels no need to bring along, food, drinks, music and a very clean hotel. All so very affordable! We loved our room and coffee each morning on the lanai...such a peaceful setting...we can't wait to go back! Thank you Hale Koa for a fun and memorable vacation! We will recommend it to our friends. We will be back!

Unanswered telephones
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/7/11
Our daughter is returning stateside from being deployed in the middle east since July 2011. We attempted to garner information about using the Hale Koa Hotel with her military ID while visiting her in Honolulu. The wait on the phone from the mainland was unreasonable. We will find another hotel who has enough staff to accommodate calls.

Week Visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/9/11
Loved the location. Liked the room, good view (which you pay much more for a room with an ocean view). The staff, when asked a question, the standard answer is I don't know. No one told us that we assumed was the ITT Office for trips was really affiliated with ITT Ticket Office on most bases - it is not. If you go take the hour and go to one of the bases and hit the TRUE ITT office and your trips will be much cheaper. The one in the lobby is a local travel agency. We had this tip by a waiter after we had committed money, non refundable, on a couple trips.

Do you want Best Value or Luxury?
By Gwen, 11/6/11
This was the perfect place to start our first visit to Hawaii. The rooms were clean and well-kept, the grounds beautiful and location perfect. Not as luxurious or as attentive staff as we have had in Mexico or Costa Rica but for the price I thought it was great. The restaurants are so-so but you can't beat the Barefoot Bar where I confess we spent a good deal of our time listening to music, watching the beach and sunset and drinking way too many Longboards. When planning, think ... are you planning to spend most of your week inside the hotel or will you be on the beach, at the pool and seeing the beautiful Hawaiian sites?

Wonderful Place to Stay
By 3ChihuahuaMom, 11/5/11
This was our third stay at the Hale Koa. The rooms are predictably appointed, but clean with comfortable beds. The only room complaint is the cheesy 2 hr/8 hr power control on the refrigerator. It is OK for bottled or canned drinks, but definitely not reliable to keep cool enough for food items. Maybe because it is military affiliated, the other guests always show respect and courtesy to each other. We have never witnessed an occasion of disturbance. The breakfast buffet at KoKo Cafe was tasty and plentiful. They have the very best Kona coffee! Service was very prompt and friendly. The bad thing was the long line to get in dispite having many empty tables inside. Maybe more than one or two hostesses seating during busy times would help? The comedy show in Warrior Lounge was adequate, but certainly not in the outstanding category. The drinks and appetizers there were tasty and reasonably priced. We had dinner twice at Bibas. The service was very good one night and adequate the other. The food was outstanding both nights. The luau is one of the best on the island. The grounds and garden are beautiful and well designed. The entertainment has a wonderful variety, and the food is very delicious. This was our third luau and I still look forward to hearing Glenn Medieros singing. In all, if you qualify to stay, you will not find a better location for the price on the Island. A rental car is not a necessity, but with the parking garage across the street, it is very convenient if you do have a rental. Being able to drive to the North Shore, Pearl Harbor, or the mountains at your leisure instead of a tour bus a nice option. We will definitely be returning with the kids and grandkids in the near future.

Sixth and final stay at the Hale Koa
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/11
We had stayed there five times before and had always enjoyed the service, food, and location. Our September 2011 trip was very upsetting and disappointing. After a long flight to get there, we were astonished that at times only one desk agent was checking people in. It was at the 3:00 P.M. normal check-in time while 20+ people waited in line.(I assumed as tired as us}. At least six other people were behind the desk and NO ONE seemed to care enough to help the customers in-line get checked-in! In addition I had to get back in line 2 more times because we waited on a second room that wasn't ready. I get far superior service at CHICK-FIL-A and at my Bank. They won't leave people waiting in lines. I suggest to you to spend the little extra and stay next door at the Hilton Hawaiian Village or anywhere else. The Service at the Hale Koa reminds me of the typical service I now get at the Exchange, poor. Breakfast at the Koko cafe is fine as long as you want the buffet and they have it set-up when they open. It was like they had never done it before. Several things weren't out or ready. The service that we've enjoyed in the past is no longer there. Like another customer was saying in line, " You wouldn't put up with this at the Hilton Hawaiian Village or another hote! ".

Bibas restaurant
By Running Guy, 7/4/11
My wife and I usually eat at Bibas Restaurant located at the hotel because the food is good. On our visit 3 July 2011. We decided to eat there again. This time the only food we enjoyed was my wife's glass of water and my glass of beer. After we were seated,we waited about 25 minutes before we saw the waiter. He took our drink order and after another 20 minutes he returned with the drinks. Another 45 minutes we got bread, which was good, the butter a greasy mess. Another 45 minutes our food arrived. My wife's ribs were so tough she couldn't finish it,soggy fries. My pizza was burnt on one half and raw on the other half. We will never eat there again!
