Watch out for the BUGSSSSSSSSSSSS
By ,
Had Stayed in the hotel 3 times before and had no major problems . Just as i was settled into my room i was told i had to move rooms in 3 days because they had over booked'this made me very mad because i didnt need hassle like this on my holiday. My first night i was woken up to have bedbugs i was bitten very very badly n had to be taken to the hospital the next morning after being at the hospital for few hours i wasnt looking forward to going back to the hotel. When i arrived back i was offered another room with a kitchen but NO utensils(still had to pay to eat out) Three days later knives forks pans plates etc turn up out of the blue (still in wrappers as if just bought) Manageress refused to see me( did i mention i had to pay ALL the hospital bills) To this day still had to pay total bill had no refund or apology.Could do with attending a course on customer service.Have traveled the world and never had this before.

I use to work there and nothing changed
By ,
I use to work here in 1987 and the place had a lot of complaints. Its a 50 dollar room being rented for 150 because its on Oahu. The penthouse is nice but very expensive. I went back and stayed there one night to see if it was the same. Yes it was. One guest complained of ants. The locations is not that great, it sits down from wakiki. The staff was friendly. I would advise you to look into other places first and pay a little extra. this place offers some good deals but in still not worth the price.

We will never stay there again!
By ,
The hotel is set a considerable distance from most attractions and amenities in and around Honolulu. It does have "beach front" but no real beach, just a seawall and rocks below. There is a nice underground parking garage, but this is the end of nice. We had a travel agent book us into the place in 2000, with specific instructions not to pick a flop-house. We were looking for an affordable stay in Hawaii without a lot of frills However, a flop-house is what we got! First we were told that the hotel was overbooked and that we would have to change rooms after 2 nights. When we got to our room, we began to feel that we had made a terrible mistake. Pealing paint, worn furniture, 2 kinds of ants & 2 kinds of roaches greeted us. The air conditioning is supplied by 2 window units. Pigeons found a nice roosting place just under both air conditioners and kept us awake all night with their noises. The next day, I called the Turtle Bay Hilton (now the Turtle Bay Resort) and they said they could accommodate us for only $40 more per night. The innkeepers were nice and let us out of our room reservations (after all, they were overbooked anyway). You would think that for $150 per day that you would get a decent place to stay, but that wasn't the case for the Diamond Head Beach Hotel.

Better than i expected!
By ,
My partner and i were in a dump of a hotel down the street at the edge of Waikiki called the Queen Kapiolani. After one night of suffering through all the street noise coming through the non-insulated "jalousie" windows, I was ready to move to another hotel. I looked in the phone book and saw an ad for the Diamond Head beach hotel. The $99 and up caught my attention but the room actually cost $125, not much more than what we paid at the miserable Queen Crapiolani. This place is an old Holiday Inn from 1969 which has since been converted into residences and rentals, so this is not your usual hotel. And its shaped like a cool retro pyramid! They let us take a tour of the room before i made the commitment to stay and we loved it. The back of the hotel has a cute garden with lounge chairs so you can soak up the afternoon sun and watch great sunsets. Be careful though not to lose your keys because they do not give standard magnetic card keys. We almost lost our key set and it would have cost us over $100 to replace them. Other than that we had a great experience and would definitely stay there again!

NICE!!
By ,
The location was close to town, Room #10 was clean and the beds were luxuriously comfortable. The hotel was oceanfront and had a well maintained lounging area by the water. Not a swimming beach! Very Rocky. Great value. Only thing wrong was they ran out of the boxed cont breakfast by 9:30 am on a Tuesday.

Water Damage not our Fault, but huge charge for damages!
By ,
Dislike Dishonesty!! Water was shut off by Plumber, no water or shower, we were charged $1000.00 after we checked out for water damage to the room. No apology, just run around that we were the last ones in the room!

Cute little place!
By ,
Diamond Head Beach Hotel is in a beautiful location only a short walk from Waikiki. One thing you must know is that this is not a full-service hotel. If you want a big nice room on the ocean, Diamond Head is perfect! It also happens to have the fastest elevator on earth!! We spent our days in Waikiki and then relaxed on the back patio of the hotel in the late afternoon. Excellent buy, quiet, and pretty!

My favorite digs in Honolulu!
By ,
The Diamond Head Beach is a bit off the beaten path but right on the ocean and just steps away from the action on Waikiki. My favorite time: early morning having the complementary breakfast on the ocean front patio. But try to make sure to get a room above the 8th floor where the rooms have spectacular views. Even better, stay in the Penthouse.

Not worth the price
By ,
The condo/room was incredibly beautiful but was horribly contained. Tall buildings on all sides so unless you get Ocean Front you feel you're in an alley, no matter how nice the furniture etc. The service was the some of the worse I've ever had. Not enough towels and a days wait to correct. Beach towels were only available if you spent your vacation time at the desk. If you want to cook be ready to drive a distance to the store for real groceries. We won't go back....not worth the price.
