A disappointment, will not go back
By Terrie, 5/20/12
Beautiful setting. And that is all I liked. For such an elegant old and renowned restaurant this was a great disappointment. The Brunch was expensive and didn't even include the juice and coffee. The seafood bowl looked like it had set in the cooler overnight. The oysters had been shucked so long they were dry and looked almost dehydrated! Shrimp and Grits were like soup. The only good things we ate were the cherry cobbler and the bacon. This was a meal to celebrate our anniversary, I am glad I cook better than the chef or I might not get to stay married :-( . The restaurant was dirty. The floor needed to be vacuumed and carpet cleaned, it smelled musty. A place with that supposed elegance could at least put tablecloths on all the tables. Waite staff was only marginally attentive. The Executive Chef was making the omelets could have put on a clean jacket , combed his hair and shaved. Who can't get a omelet right? Obviously the Partridge Inn. We will Not be going back. We will not go back

Was Such A Lovely Hotel - Now it's AWFUL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/11
We had our entire wedding party stay here 14 years ago - we loved the Partridge Inn. Imagine our disappointment to come for an overnight stay this weekend only to find the grand old lady falling down around herself. The carpets smelled like urine (I'm not kidding, wish I was) - the staff looked to be pulled from the prison work release program, and the actual hotel looked like it was falling apart. We went down for a drink at what used to be The Verandah Inn on the 2nd floor only to find peeling paint, a homeless-looking clientele, and railings falling off the balcony. For shame letting a historic hotel like this go downhill.

I am very picky and I recommend this hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/30/08
I had read the reviews on this site and decided I would not be happy staying here but my only other option was river front and it was under construction plus $40 more so I thought... I don't want to stay in a chain I want to stay in an Old Landmark Hotel. I am so glad that I made that choice. Upon arrival the front desk staff was SO FRIENDLY (and now after reading these reviews I am looking to criticize) The room was HUGE and fabulous plus it was VERY CLEAN which is a must for me. (They even have a space heater in the room besides the central and wall heat) We picked a suite which was only going to be $19 more but with AARP was the same price as a regular room. It was on the 4th floor and deadly quiet. We heard no noises from street or bar?! There was a "jazz" band in the bar and they were fabulous!!! The workout room was great with new equipment and plenty of weights. Our bathtub did fill with water while showering which I hate so I mentioned it to housekeeping on the way out and my husband and I thought "yea right" but the next morning the tub drained perfectly. I could not have been happier with this stay and would definitely go again.

Southern Hospitality
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/08
We had a 11:30 reservation and had requested a veranda table. When we arrived we told the very sullen girl that we had requested an outside table. She said that was first come, first serve. It was eleven thirty in the morning..We tood our seats where we were left..As we stood to help ourselves, without instructions, We saw several tables outside where we could have been seated.. Then we saw others being seated outside..They have no manners, too much different food and not enough quality. ...Please do not let this wonderful place that I have loved for years go away and for goodness sake take down that stupid, stupid plastic on the veranda.

Quaint historic hotel, in need of updates.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/07
The ambiance of this hotel is unmistakable. From rooms tucked away down winding halls, an entrance greeting you with purely southern architectural pillars, this place is visually exciting...until you get inside. Although the hotel has been recently renovated, the hotel still leaves much to be desired. I stayed in a private balcony room, which was adorable and romantic with two wicker rocking chairs on the private porch. The balcony, however, overlooked a busy street and was only secluded and romantic after 11pm. Though the bedding was clean and expensive (per 3.5-4 star hotels) the housekeeper did a terrible job cleaning. We found chewing tobacco (used) in our room after our first night of rest. It was either tucked into the sheets with us and dislodged, or it had been under the bed from some previous guest. (To the hotel's credit, the room was given a scrub down the second night under the supervision of the head of housekeeping). The bathrooms were small, undercleaned, and the stand up shower (no bathtub, for those who like to relax in this sort of hotel) had a curtain cut too short for the curve of the tub and left the floor soaking after even the shortest showering. Hotel lobby left coffee in the morning, and sweet southern tea at night. Wonderful restaurant on premises. Reasonable room service fees. I loved the uniqueness of this hotel, very memorable. Even with its flaws, it is quite a charmer. And, the staff seems to know you, remember your face, room and requests. Everything you could ask for, service wise. Very good staff. I would say the only complaints would lie in the "needs a second renovation to keep up with the times" department. But, what else would you expect from an old southern building? Lovely place, and probably the best place to stay in Augusta. My recommendation: Skip the local Marriott and stay here for some authentic southern charm.

Beware!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/21/07
Was at the Partridge Inn for a wedding this past weekend and everyone I talked with had been charged for an additional night's lodging when they checked out. Unbelievable! I counted eight instances of this and I am quite sure there were many more. NevWon't get me back! Very disorganized staff.

A big, big disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/20/07
For over 30 years my husband and I, plus visiting family and friends have had the Partridge Inn's Sunday buffet lunch. Until today, we had been most happy with their food and service. Today was a very, very large disappointment. The first indication that perhaps the Inn was no longer a prime place to eat Sunday buffet was the parking garage which was mostly empty (word has gotten around???). After being seated, we waited and waited for someone to come to our table. The table, by the way, rocked back and forth on its pedestal. After being served our drinks we served ourselves various salad ingredients along with large shrimp that had a bowl of the thickest shrimp cocktail sauce ever! The shrimp were dull and tasteless and since the sauce was so thick, we were unable to dip the shrimp into the sauce. Also, ate two oysters that tasted extremely fishy. We wanted rolls and butter to go with the salad but the Inn, evidently, does not believe in putting small plates on the table for the convenience of the customer. One of the items presented was a mystery fish in a sauce but no tartare sauce if the customer wanted it. Nothing on the table was named so we had to guess what food we were serving ourselves. The pork was extremely dry and it would have helped if apple sauce was available to help the dryness. Disappointing to say the least.

Neat Place
By Ted, 3/14/07
We have stayed many times and always been treated OK. The staff changes often as does ownership. The dining and bar atmosphere are what you go for. Sitting on the front veranda looking across the street at a historical and beautiful building while sipping a drink is wonderful. Some of the staff in dining have been there for years and always act like they remember you. We come and watch the Monday practice round at The Masters and Agusta is a zoo. For everyday travel this hotel won't suit a lot of people. It's not cheap,it's old, the rooms are small with very few views, parking is a problem and if you have a room anywhere near the bar you have a lot of noise at night. We don't go for the same reasons we would go to a Holiday Inn Express [we wouldn't go there anyway]. It is an experience stayong here and we think a good one. Ted Chapman-Nashville, TN

Don't believe the picture
By Ben, 11/14/05
I stayed here recently on a business trip with about a dozen other people. The unanimous agreement was that this was maybe a 1 star hotel. The hotel is being renovated and a lot of the hotel is shut down. Several of the people found bugs in their rooms and the air conditioning was loud or did not work.
