Disappointed and don't want to go back next year
Attended a week long conference at the hotel this spring and I am hoping the conference planners choose a different site for next year. Though the support staff was friendly, the prices are outrageous and conflicted with other attendees in my group. The prices of some things varied depending on who you asked. Also ran into the issue of $50.00 per day deposit on debit card use if that is what you are paying your hotel bill with for your stay. They don't want your cash, though I offered to give it to them up front for the whole week. Very confusing and frustrating. Continental breakfast each day was boring and full of carbs - only protein to speak of was a boiled egg each day. The remainder was cereal, breads/muffins/pastries, fruit, some plain yoghurt, juice, coffee, tea and water. To eat a regular bacon and eggs breakfast in their restaurant it will cost $21.00; a bowl of oatmeal is $8.00, which I feel is way too spendy. They never asked if anyone was on a special diet, so you must be proactive in this matter. If you must stay downtown, go across the street to the parking garage, up to the 7th floor skywalk over to the Peachtree mall area and eat at one of the "fast-food" places there. Many of them, such as Dairy Queen, I think, open at 6am and provide breakfast for under $5.00. Eating at the hotel that week I was there I spent more on food and snacks than I spend on a whole month of groceries at home. It would be nice if they had would also provide a microwave and small refrigerator in the room for cold drinks considering how hot Atlanta can be. My room was fairly clean, but I also noticed where it was in need of repairs in the bathroom and entry way. This is a large hotel, so if you want to be away from the noise of the elevators let them know and you will find yourself in an end unit like I did, but be prepared to walk. LOL.
