Before going to this hotel, I read through reviews and I noticed similar gripes from many customers: poor service, dirty room, noisy, etc...
My boyfriend and I decided to stay here because we were going to a hockey game that night at the Phillips Arena and we liked the convenience. If you have to go to a sporting event at either Phillips Arena or the Georgia Dome, you can't beat this location. Parking and traffic in Atlanta is horrible, and it is worth the money to simply walk down from your room to the game. There is also an excellent food court located in the building, a great place to grab a quick meal before a game.
I throughly enjoyed the room. Some guests have complained about the beds being too soft. I will agree. If you like a firm mattress, this is not the hotel for you. The bed was extremely soft and had comfortable down pillows and a down comforter. Our room had an excellent view of the Olympic park as well as the Atlanta skyline. The bathroom was nice, shower had excellent water pressure, even up on the 27th floor.
As far as service goes, for us it was excellent. Now I'm not the type of person that has too many requirements when staying in a hotel. When we received our bill we had one small problem, they had charged us the fee for valet parking (which is $25 by the way). We had actually parked next door at the Phillips Arena parking lot. The attendant was polite and promptly removed the charge from our account.
The overall value for our stay was amazing. My boyfriend has stayed at lesser hotels around Atlanta (Hampton Inn, etc...) and he paid about $110 for a room there. We ended up paying $173 for our room. We had purchased one of their package deals. So we got two tickets for the Georgia Aquarium ($24 a piece) as well as a complementary breakfast buffet at the Prime Meridian restaurant. This buffet was not like a regular breakfast buffet. A chef on duty prepared eggs to your liking and the buffet had very good bacon, toast, sausage, hashbrowns, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and just about anything you could ever want for breakfast. It was wonderful. When all was said and done, the room was definitely worth the price for the value and the location and the comfort.
I did have one complaint. We scoped out the pool. I believe there had to be another hotel pool. the pool we found located on the North Tower was very small and only went up to about 4 feet. Not much at all.
