Ocean Sky Hotel and Resort, Fort Lauderdale

Been going there for 10 years now. For people who want the Ritz ...they should go to the Ritz...for people who want relaxed personal and professional service along with a great bar and beach...this is the spot.

We were so disappointed. We held our family reunion there and it was terrible. we were informed 2 weeks before arrival that the banquet room was being remodeled and we were placed in the hotel restaurant only after arguing with management before our arrival. the service during our dinner was horrible. the waiter very rude. when asked for a clean plate for the buffet was told we had to reuse the plate we had. the elevator service was horrible. the wait was horrible if the elevator didn't get stuck, ice machine not working on the floors we were told it was. the bathrooms were really small and the tubs in my room was old and didn't look clean after they were done. the refrigerator barely chilled your drinks and food. very lacking in customer service. will not stay or go there again.

When you first enter the property you see construction. I was there for 4 days and never saw anyone working. When I arrived my room wasn't ready. It took the desk person about 10 minutes to tell me this and this was after I had to ask what the problem was. Once I got to the room it wasn't what I expected. Definately not the best. I went outside to the balcony and knew then and there that would be my last time. Peeling paint on balcony floor and railings. Railings looked dangerous. Windows dirty so you really couldn't look out. Food very expensive. I ordered room service for breakfast only to receive it 45 minutes after I placed the call and it came in a stirofoam take out container. It was so bad I couldn't eat it. The coffee was bad also it also came in a take out cup. We ask for more jelly. The waiter came back 40 minutes after our request and one of the jellies was used, already opened and scraped out. This cost me $40.00. One drink at the bar will cost you $9.00 that's because they put tax and gratuity on everything. Service so so. Some workers were nice while others weren't. The pictures on the internet must have been taken when they first built the hotel many many years ago. You can look around and see that it once had potential but those days are long gone. They even have pictures in the elevators of the outside patio pool area, rooms and lobby and all the furniture and fixtures are no longer there. It did look beautiful long ago. The whole place is in desparate need of a makeover. Ocean Sky is on my do not return list

The balcony is a shared balcony and ours faced a roof that was being resurfaced beginning at 7:30 am daily. We could not go out on our balcony without smelling tar, hearing loud equipment in the morning, and beings stared at by the workers. During the night, the shared balcony was used by anyone on our floor. Smoking cigars right outside our window. A prom was there and rooms rented to underage prom kids who partied loudly all night long. I complained, but the partying continued until one kid accidentally walked into our room at 3:00am off the balcony. Security finally kicked the kids out. Of course by waking us up as well. Forget a good nights rest and safety! Anyone can come in your room off the balcony unless you remember to double lock everything. No one on the staff cared. We never even got a follow up call or apology. And everything outside the room is expensive. Renting an umbrella at the pool is $35. And the food was more expensive for a bagel and fruit than a full dinner at restaurants down the street. They even charge for using an in room safe. And they charge for parking whether you need valet or not. This hotel is a complete ripoff.

Party of 4 for a girls weekend of sand, sun & relaxation. Staff very friendly & helpful. Hotel was very nice. Room was pretty clean as far as hotels go. Awsome pool area right on the beach. Great value for the money. Would definately go back.

First of all let me just say that i was amazed to find such a great deal so close to the beach...my husband and i stayed on the 7th floor and all rooms have a partial view of the ocean. the pool was clean and beatiful the tiki bar was fun and the bar tenders were all nice. when u check in they give u a privlage card so u can just charge everything to the room you dont have to walk around with money.... the food was a little high but average for a hotel.....We rented Wave Runners they were 69 dollars for 1/2 an hour at first i was like wow thats the same as we paid for the room for 1 night but i was well worth it i had a blast and so did my husband ..... they have pool hot tub game room a gym wireless internet a bar a resturant and they are right on the beach the also having a parking charge of 8 dollars but u just drop your car off and walk inside. The Staff was wonderful and we will def. be going back!

Staff was courteous. Paying for parking is never fun, but at least the valet guys run around as fast as they can trying to get your car even when it is 97 degrees out! Pool was clean, beach clean, hotel room clean. We stayed on the 7th floor and there wasn't any construction or grime in the hallways. Tiki bar is pretty quiet and they closed early on Sunday evening. Jacuzzi is nice and spacious. The balconies do not have separating walls between them and I thought that was odd, but nothing to rant about! Basic 3 star hotel.

This place has no class and service was poor. I tried to get a knife to cut some fruit that we bought. The resautarant would not let me borrow a knife and the hotel said it was not their responsibility and said go buy one at Winn Dixie. One day sitting at the pool with other families a DJ shows up with this huge speaker and starts playing extremely loud Hip-Hop music that no one appreciated. Soon afterward several young ladies arrived wearing thong bathing suits and a "best body" contest begain. We soon found out out it was sponsored by a porno web site and everything was filmed and photographed. The whole contest was bogus and the winner was predetermined because not many people were applauding when asked to. Several body guards were there to keep people away from using half of the pool and several shady people who were not guests showed up to watch the show. Many people complained to hotel management and their response was they found out that morning and it was set up by the hotel restaurant and they had no responsibility. I am sure that the the hotel and restaurant are owned and ran by a single entity. The pool was a lot smaller than I expected. Parking was $8.00/day and when I booked the hotel was told that it was $5.00/day. This was long after they increased rates I was told in Feb. Also there is a mandatory $1.00/day charge to use their in room safe. You are charged it if you use it or not. The jacuzzi was not available the week we were there and the pool restrooms were not accessible. Also the Polo Lounge was closed for renovations. Avoid staying in this low class hotel! I felt that they were deceptive and service was poor. We are far from picky travelers and always look for an inexpensive deal. I guess this time we got what we paid for.

We were so excited to go to this resort - what a disappointment. It was dirty, most of the staff couldn't communicate with us and the rooms were disgusting! The sheets on our bed hadn't been changed from the previous guests and the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. If you're going to this hotel, bring your own cleaning supplies because they don't use any!!!

The Hotel location is great for the beach goers... walk out the lobby and there is the pool and the sandy beach. The concierge service lacked tourist information, we found out about things to do like water front dining, water taxi and las olas blvd from the wait staff at the hotel next door. Breakfast was VERY expensive for a muffin and a juice. They has a great breakfast buffet for a group they had on the weekend, it would be so great if that would be offered on a regular basis. Housekeeping staff was very courteous and property is clean! Would go back but do some tourist information research beforehand.
