Stay away from this place, don't even consider it!

The temperature in Key West was very cold during our stay. A record low. But unfortunately, we had to sleep in this cold weather as well. The temp. inside the room on the first 2 nights was around 48F!!! The rooms had no heat at all. The staff had no extra blankets, no portable heaters and didn't seem to care. One staff member explained that they didn't have heat at home either. That certainly helped me out. The room wasn't clean and the furnishings were more like Motel 6. The shower, as explained in many other reviews, would deposit about 1 to 2 inches of water on the floor no matter what we did to prevent it. Imagine stepping out of the shower into a 50 degree room and standing in water!! Security didn't exist, homeless people were found sleeping in the garage area. When returning to hotel late at night, I was able to walk through the main entrance without seeing any staff or required to use a key card to gain access. The advertised partial ocean view, didn't exist due to large palm trees blocking the view. The advertised "botique suite" wasn't any better than a standard room at a Hampton. No microwaves, no coffee makers, (unless you like "nespresso" machines). Had to pay for internet use which was about as fast as "dial up". On arrival the room didn't have a clock or the promised i-Pod docking station. The beach area was "ok" at best and the grounds looked nice. The location was ok as well. Other than that, as many others have said, there are many nice places to stay in Key West. The people that give this place good reviews obviously haven't stayed at nice places. Either that, or they have relatives on the staff. This hotel will not survive in this competitve market. We can only hope that the next owners will transform this to a nice place. It certainly has potential. But for now stay away from this place. It is not worth the money and it is giving Waldorf Astoria and the Hilton properties a bad name.
