Tha absolute worst hotel!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/22/11
First of all, we check in and we got our room keys, went to the room and walked in to a room that people were still occupying!!! I went to the front desk and they apoligized but gave me nothing for the embarassment!!!! Finally, we got our room and it was no better than a college dorm room, bare white walls, gross hair all over the bathroom, and not inviting what so ever!!!! Then the fridge did not work, we were wanting to put waters in it to get cold but it was not getting cold. We called the front desk and told them that it was not working, all they said was that it was not to get things cold but to keep things cool. WHAT??????? Then to top it off, they charged my credit card that I reserved the room on instead of the credit card I told them to put it on when I checked in!!!! My advice to you is DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL, there are plenty of other hotels to choose from in the area that cannot be as terrible as the Westin Harbour Island!!!!!!

Candid Review
By Brent, 10/23/08
It was a pleasant stay overall. The room was relatively large with all the amenities of a nicer hotel, and the pillow-top bed was the best I've slept in. Bathroom was large and very clean, and we had a spectacular view from the 12trh floor of the water and city. At the same time, it should be noted that the first room had not been cleaned (literally, dinner tray was in the middle of an unmade bed :). I mention this because it was noted in an internet review and by a couple at the front desk as we were checking in. Staff were somewhat disinterested in our problem but did move us to a new room (described herein) relatively quickly (they weren't at all apologetic or particularly pleasant, however). Otherwise, we found other staff to be pleasant and service-minded. Typically, the restaurant is over-priced for quality and quantity, but tastee enough for us. There aren't a lot of eating establishments closeby if you are walking, and especially if it is raining as it did most of the time we were there. Also, beware, cab drivers may well not know about the advertized $3 in-zone fares, or they will tell you that they do not participate, a fact that is not reported by Hart. In fairness, the a hotel van driver did take us to a restaurant one night. I also flagged down one of the TOP drivers once and got a ride to the hotel from the Aquarium, however, these vehicles are few and they can be a long wait.

Great location for wedding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/07
We held our wedding and reception at the Westin Harbour Island. We know first-hand that the service is top-notch. Jenni and staff made our day go so smoothly. Our guests have commented over and over on what a wonderful time they had. The location is beautiful. It is close to downtown and public transportation is great for out of town guests. Our room was spacious, modern, and clean.

Reception at Wyndham Harbour Island
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/10/07
My daughter's reception was at the Wyndham Harbour Island hotel. Mashed potatoes were part of the buffet. Unfortunately there were raw potatoes in them and one of our guests got a piece lodged in her throat. She ended up in the emergency room at Tampa General. Her bill was about $4000.00 which we all felt the hotel should be responsible for. All she got from them was a letter that basically told her "Tough luck" for you. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. They were very nice until this incident happened then we all got the cold shoulder. To all of you out there planning a reception, ask about their insurance in case something should happen to one of your guests.

Horrible Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/06
Tried to cancel a reservation with this hotel and cannot get a return phone call. They charged my card in advance and now I have to attempt to collect through master card. They only have voice mail and ignore requests to cancel charge and credit back the charges. Do not use this hotel.

never deal with westin
By steven t, 6/16/06
where should i start. check-in was friday night, no parking for hotel guests because of noisey club next door(had to park 2 blocks away in employee parking). check in was about an hour long. to make things worse, when we got to our room, t.v. was on and beer cans on the floor with cigerette smoke in room(rooms are non-smoking). changed rooms luckily but cost us another hour. to finish it all off. i booked through travelocity which charges in full after reservation, well they swiped my card for incidentals, and what do you know, double charge for the room. it has been 4 wks since and no money has been credited back, nobody answers phones or returns calls. all in all not too bad but if they mess something up, don't count on them to take care of it in any timely manner. horrible.

Not worth the money
By Joe C, 5/3/06
Dirty, rusty, and very overpriced. There is much better places to stay at then this over price junk of a hotel. The tub had hair in it,the pipes were rusty, and the room smelled of smoke in a nonsmoking room. Rude desk and nobody even knew the area to help.

Wonderful hotel
By none, 10/11/05
We just returned from 4 nights at this hotel. After reading some of the earlier reviews, I was a bit nervous. Boy was my worry for nothing. This hotel is wonderful. The staff was friendly and readily available for questions. They were very helpful. We had a king room on the 10th floor with a wonderful view of the Hillsborough river and Davis Island. The room was very large as was the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room did not smell at all. The housekeeping staff brought us extra towels shortly after we called for them. Yes, some did not speak english very well but we had no problem communicating with them. The coffeemaker is on a small table in the entry way but we had no problem using it. The room was clean, bright and nicely decorated. The carpets and walls were in fine shape. There is a large closet in the entry way also that lights up when you open the door. The pool area looked very nice although we didn't use the pool. We didn't order room service but I looked at the menu and it seemed to be priced okay. I think what makes it pricey is they add 18% service charge and tax to the bill. (You need to remember that you are at a high end hotel.) The store in the lobby sells sandwiches, coffee, breakfast items, snack food, beer and wine. This was reasonably priced. We would get breakfast from here in the morning. It is convenient to Channelside as you can walk to it. They offer shuttle service to and from the airport which was great. All in all I found this hotel to be a wonderful experience. I would stay here again.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/5/05
I recently stayed at the Wyndham Harbour Island Hotel, located in Tampa, for a wedding. The only interesting part of my trip was the actual wedding. We had payed around $800 for three nights and I had high expectations for the hotel. The lobby overall outer appearance of the hotel was impressive. However, the second we entered our hotel room my jaw dropped to the floor. I was astounded at the quality and size of the room. My initial reaction was, "I paid all this money for this!" The carpet and curtains were run-down and the room had a sort of stingy and soggy feel to it. I felt discusting sleeping in my bed. Even the hallways just felt unpleasant. Please do yourself a favor, save your money, and find another hotel while in Tampa.

Wonderful place
By Cheryl, 5/30/05
I stayed here while I was working a convention at the Tampa Convention Center. It's really close, and in a really beautiful area. The staff is wonderful. The food at Il Terrazzo is amazing. I had colleagues staying at the Marriott across the street and my king nonsmoking room was twice the size of theirs. The bed was large and luxurious. The area is great to walk around in the moonlight, or even in the daytime. I'll be staying there again soon.
