Horrible- Anywhere but here!!!
By ,
First, the Hyatt is a few feet away - stay there instead - I paid $112 per person to stay here. I booked through a travel website. They were sure to tell me that there were no more rooms available that I could cancel for a refund once reservations were made - that should have warned me. I requested, and was guaranteed, a queen size bed, but got a full. There was a old tv in the room, AND THAT WAS IT! No coffee maker, ice machines were on three of the 15 or 16 floors (don't remember how many floors). Also, one of the two elevators n ever worked - reviews all the way back to 2007 say the same thing. I should have known what to expect when I saw the holes in the lobby ceiling!! There was ONE thin wash cloth and two small, thin towels for my husband and I to use and two very thin pillows and an old, thin, dirty spread on the bed. Oh, the view was nice. When I called the front desk I was put on hold after many rings, then disconnected. My husband, who worked at a hotel for 25 years, said the furniture throughout the hotel looked like the exact furnishings they had when he STARTED working. I knew I didn't want to chance eating dinner there, and was too tired to walk anywhere, so we ordered from one of the many pizza menu that were slid under our door: GAG!! How do you mess up a chef salad. It was a bad pizza on lettuce! My husband's BLT was two small slices of bacon and piles of lettuce on hoagie bread. Breakfast - (we were not told that it was to be continental) - was two choices of cereal, bagels, toast, some unidentifiable cookies, coffee and oj on flimsy paper saucers. The attendant seemed angry that she omly had a couple of dollars in her huge 2-gallon jar. My breakfast at a $16/nite London hosta was better! Believe me, any good reviews were written by the owner! LOL STAY AWAY!!!

Was scared after reading reviews
By ,
I was a little scared after reading the reviews. I am a Doctoral student and had classes next door at the Hyatt. I stayed 5 nights. This location was a short walk from the Hyatt and in a great location. Behind the hotel is the riverwalk and a very short walk to restaurants. I had a great view from my room. I was on the 8th floor and could see the yahcts and tug boats go down the river. the only thing I have negative to say is that I had booked a King Suite but did not arrive until after midnite. They put me in a Double Queen Suite and said I could switch in the morning. I loved the view from my room so much I did not switch. Breakfast was offered each morning it was not GOURMET but that is why they called it continental. There were a wide selection of rolls and bread products and cereals to choose from. The Room itself was very clean but retro...that was okay with me. The staff I talked to was friendly. Yes I did receive a wide selection of Pizza menus but that was okay with me. I will stay here again.

Beware
By ,
I arrived with a paid reservation through Kayak on December 31st for New Year's Eve. This hotel did not have a room for me. They initially refused to offer me a refund, but eventually caved after I spoke to a manager and told them to either give me a room or a refund. They did offer a room in a hotel 20 minutes drive away - not even in downtown Miami. I had to stand in line for an hour just to talk to the desk person. Considering I had come here to experience the New Year's eve celebration, I was really upset. STAY AWAY, they will not honor your reservation and will treat you poorly

Avoid this placed like the plague
By ,
Staff not friendly place stinks of smoke and all sorts of odours. Room was like something that had never seen a coat of paint. since it was built my wife pulled back the sheets to check for bed bugs. When checking out they had the cheek to charge for a safety deposit box that we did not use the desk clerk said everybody gets it put on the bill whether its used on not. I am a proffessional painter I could have painted this place till I retired DO NOT STAY HERE I am scratching myself as I write this review

What a mistake.
By ,
Service poor. Rooms are large and spacey if you have a load of luggage. My advice is not to stay for breakfast and no car with hope of free parking. You will have an awful time communicating to some staff unless you speak Spanish. Dirt rooms. I think owner of this hotel is thinking to demolish and build a new one.

Less than what they could offer
By ,
I will start off with what I saw in my suite. A broken tile in the middle of the suits. No telephone hook next to the bed. Cheap pillows, small towels. Out of service phone. It comes next day and I see no cleaning done in my suite. I asked my friend which lived two doors further on the same floor, and she had the same experience. Breakfast was simply nothing more than waiting in a line and begging for a pastry and a glass of oj at the bar. You could choose between that or a very small muffin and that is with no English spoken attendant that was handing those us these from a box. I think you could save yourself a good night sleep just next door with not much more cost.

We would stay there again
By ,
The staff was freindly. when you walk in there is feel of elegance. The hotel is a little old but everything was working just fine. The only thing that I did not like is that i had to pay $21 for parking and there was no bell person to help me with my bags..I would recommend this hotels to others its not the best hotel but its economic and staff is freindly

It did the trick
By ,
After reading some of the hysterical reviews about this place, I was a little concerned when I checked in. (I booked as part of an Orbitz package.) For what you get, though, it's not a bad place at all. The hotel is a little rundown--it used to be a Clarion, and it hasn't been renovated--but the front desk staff were agreeable, my room was very clean (no nasty hairs or bugs), everything in my room worked fine, and I had no problems at all. Miami hotels are extremely expensive, and if I had more to spend, I'd certainly stay somewhere else. And if I didn't have to be downtown near the convention center, I'd stay in some other part of the city, since NOTHING happens in this neck of the woods after dark, and the area becomes quite desolate. But for two nights, the River Park served my needs.

Not What I Expected...
By ,
The parking is terrible!!! The toilet did not work (which was a nightmare for my son who has an intestinal disorder). The telephone/internet did not work (we had to go downstairs for everything). The pool was filthy. If I had not paid for the hotel in advance, I would not have stayed. After staying the 2 days I paid for, we headed straight to another hotel. The only positive thing I would have to say is that the room was cleaner than I expected.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at!
By ,
This is one of the most disgusting hotels I have ever stayed at and to think that I had to pay to stay here makes me ill. The beds have no mattress covers, the sheets are old and stained, as well as the towels, there was mold in the bathroom, the paint job in the room was horrific, and the customer service was lacking to say the least. The staff was quite unresponsive to my needs as a guest, and believe me, I checked out as fast as I could the next day. To rate this hotel with 3 stars is absurd! I'd give it a 1 and a half. Definitely not worth the $100 I spent for one night.
