Fantastic Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/09
This hotel was fantastic, me and my boyfriend have just come back and i couldn't recommend it more. Millers Ale house across the road is also great for drinks and food. Vito's chophouse has the most amazing steak you have ever tasted (you pay for it, but well worth it). I would come back here again and again.

would go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/09
This hotel is what you would expect in Florida, basic and down to earth, however, there should be more choice of food and beer in the Zebra sports bar and when we asked about transport to parks, we were told there wasnt any, so you have to use either i trolly or lynx buses, taxis can be very dear. but over all a great honeymoon.

Better than expected - no frills
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/21/09
After reading the reviews on this hotel regarding staff friendliness, noise levels, location and cleanliness I have to say they were spot on. We were lucky enough to have stayed in a newly renovated room though which was really nice so no complaints about the cleanliness that the other guests complained about. However , there is still a lot of work being carried out at the hotel and it can look a bit of an eyesore but we didn’t spend too much time here in the day so we weren’t too bothered, my only complaint was that we were not warned prior to our arrival. The hotel has a great location and offers a free shuttle service to Universal, Wet n Wild, SeaWorld and Aquatica. Watch out for the ‘Disney Lady’ at the attractions ticket desk, we wasted half a morning listening to her promise us the ‘best’ discount on Disney tickets only to find out that we had to spend the following morning at the Sheraton hotel listening to some timeshare pitch. We found it cheap enough to pay at the door and we used the Lynx 50 bus stop outside to get to Downtown Disney which cost us $4 instead of the shuttle she was offering. I really recommend the Millers Ale House across the road, its reasonably priced and has a great atmosphere for both couples and families. The hotel was noisy in the evening on a few occasions due to the large groups of young teenagers that stay there that run up and down the hallways, we also complained to the receptionist about receiving prank phone calls at 5am but she just informed us that it happened all the time and just to pull the phone off the hook. Overall the hotel was a lot better than expected, cleanliness will not be an issue in the newly renovated rooms but when I return to Orlando I will be looking for a slightly nicer hotel that cater to couples and families rather than groups of teenagers. I would recommend this hotel if your not overly fussed on where you stay and you wont be spending much time in the hotel

Good value hotel to stay at....
By Bill J, 03/12/09
Me and my friend chose this hotel as it was close to the attractions we wanted to see. After scheduling the trip, I came on here to check out the reviews of the hotel and was kind of scared by some of the reviews I read. I was hoping everything would work out...which it did. We stayed here from February 26th to March 5th. Front desk staff were nice and checked in very fast. We were placed in Building F on the 7th floor. We had a nice view of Pointe Orlando, the rest of the plaza and could see the lake on the other side of the busy I-4. Our room was quiet. Two double beds. There were no problems that were mentioned in the previous reviews. No bugs could be found, roomed cleaned daily, door locked well, room was quiet at night. You get what you pay for and our room was worth it. One slight problem we had was there was no phone book as we were looking for places to eat for dinner. My friend called down and asked for a phone book but they never brought one up. We just used our wireless internet connection to find a good place. We called the next day and the phone book was brought up in less than 5 minutes. Good Italian place to eat: Maggiano's in the Pointe Orlando. Don't get the large portion as their portions are huge and we had a lot of leftovers. Beds at the hotel were a little soft but didn't have a problem getting a good night's sleep. Shower nozzle had 3 settings but not a lot of pressure on the regular shower setting. Wireless internet was free using a laptop computer and got a good connection. There was the internet in the room that you could pay for but didn't need to with the good free connection. Got kicked off a couple times, but that's common as it does at home for me too. Free shuttle was good as we took it to Sea World. You just have to reserve seats. It's a bus that drives up. The driver was nice and the bus was on time. Never ate in the hotel restaurant. Browsed through the gift shop which wasn't that expensive compared to many other hotel gift shops I've been in. The Lite Bite food place was good but it is cheaper to walk or drive down to Walgreen's which is about 2 blocks away from the main entrance. Pools were maintained. Just had to take elevator downstairs and pool was almost right there. It was a heated outdoor pool. There was another pool about 200 feet away but it was not heated. There is a 3rd pool by the front entrance as well. I would assume it was heated. If you want to save money on a hotel room, want a short drive or shuttle to most of the Orlando attractions and don't mind staying in a kind of dated hotel and room, then I recommend staying in this hotel. If I come back to Orlando on my same budget, I will look into staying at this place again.

Do not stay here!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/08
My stay at this hotel was horrible. I have never experienced the type of treatment staying at any hotel in my life. I work in cust serv so I know a little about how it should go.Where should I start well lets start at check in when I arrived in my room, mind you it was already 40 degrees outside and the heating unit was not working .So I waited an hour or so ,still no heat ,I called the front desk spoke w/ a mng who advised as they so professionally put it a an engineering consultant would be up to fix the problem . Well people after 3 calls and 4 hrs later I spent the night in a freezing room, this should have been my warning , But due to the FLA Classics and availability of rooms . I req in the am to change rooms .If you have more than one occupant in your room 2 towels and washcloths is not enough , another addition might I add that I had to req several times. Well I finally was moved to another room ..on the sec floor mind you my orig floor was on the 5 th in another building exhausted is putting it mildly after I moved. Guess what people If you watch BET forget about it becasue this channel does not work when the sun goes down .If you use a debit /credit card even if you have checked in and out and have pd in cash your acct will still be drafted and of course as the polite stmt is I apologized for the incoviennce but there will be a hold of your money that you have already pd in full for 5-7 dys . People read the reviews ,I should have and maybe I would have not had to post this neg review. signed rep w/ BBB ??? / hotel secrect shopper.

Better than some reviews!
By Mark, 09/09/08
Presently surprised compared to some reviews I read before I went. Reviews I had read were either very good or quite bad, some stuff I read was unhelpful staff, noisy A/C and helicopter and highway noise, so taking these; Staff-didn't have that much contact with them, but they seemed ok A/C-The air con was certainly no more noisy that any other hotel with it, we didn't see the problem. Helicopter noise-Yes there is a helicopter place next door, this is only the daytime so on the odd day you may be by the pool (I suspect like us most people will be out at the parks etc) you might hear a helicopter taking off every 10-15 minutes, but I didn't see the problem! Highway noise-This could be a real problem, but we were OK being on block A There are many hotel blocks, 5 I think in all avoid B,C (and some D) For rooms facing the highway, but don't think if you are in them you will have a problem with noise, you could be in these are face the pool. I guess there is very little you can do before getting there in any case, just beware if could be an issue. Generally speaking the hotel was good-Rooms cleaned and beds made every day (remember to leave $1 tip for maid each day) Hotel is not particularly big on facilities, apart from the reception all there is a Universal ticket counter, beware they will try and sell you everything! Apart from that there is a VERY expensive bar, restaurant and a small but quite but well stocked shop which sells quite a lot snacks along with as like everywhere hundreds of different drinks. Apart from that there are three small pools none of which have any of their own facilities. The hotel is not 'top' class but compares with other 'motel’ chains I have used in the stares before (MoJo, Days Inn Etc) Do not think the 'Plaza' means it is better than other hotels that just reflects the area it is in. The rooms do have a good range of TV channels, a hairdryer along with a fridge (pity it wasn't a fridge freezer for ice creams etc) and a microwave TIP; Being from the UK, we expected for there to be a nice 'bar' with a big outdoor area maybe one by a pool, but there no such thing, the bar is an indoor one only which isn't particularly suited to families and as I said very expensive. For late evening drinks we took our own drinks from our hotel fridge and drank them in what appeared to be the only communal area buy the shop, you can buy drinks from the bar and drink them here, there are tables and chairs but it was just quite remote no facilities. Luckily there are a couple of bars in the very handy (right opposite) http://www.pointeorlando.com/ has quite a few places, 3-4 bars plus same again eating places. I will review these separately, but whatever else you do in the evening makes sure one night (we did it twice) you have to do the ‘Outta Control Magic Dinner show’ right opposite the hotel at Wonderworks, apart from there excellent magic show with audience participation this is unbelievable value, being $24.95 plus tax (look out for he hundreds of different vouchers available which basically give you a discount to cancel out the tax) for this you get, on top of the bril show as much pizza as you want (it really is endless!) plus salad and popcorn and as much bud, wince or soft drinks (soda) you can easily drink 5-6 buds getting your money back!

Do not stay on the first floor
By Matthew, 03/24/08
Ok, so honestly, my review would not be so bad if I did not stay on the bottom floor of the hotel facing the pool area. I felt like I was lying in bed in the middle of a mall. It did not matter how loud I had the television, how drunk I was, or how high I cranked the AC, it was obnoxiously loud. I stayed there a week and in the beginning there were 3 buses full of teenagers that had some serious hearing problems as they screamed every word, everyday. Lovely. My room was clean. One small bug. The shower was one of those ones that you put over an old tub. I noticed this as my head was 2 inches over the door to the bathroom while in the shower. There are restaurants and shopping on the hotel property and many more throughout International Drive. Plus, they finally finished Pointe Orlando, which is across the street. All in all, the hotel was not that bad. The walls ARE paper thin or made of mesh, something like that. If I wasn't so laid back I should've asked for a different room, my fault. I would stay here again, but not on the bottom floor facing the pool area.
