Not Quite Paradise.
Paradise Inn is what it is, a cheap motel with very cheap amenities. Expect to pay $120 for a room during the winter season($30 dollar deposit included.)If there are no other rooms in Miami then stay here, otherwise I recommend spending a few extra dollars to stay in a place that is comfortable. The beds are squeeky, you can hear EVERYBODY above you, below you, next to you and outside! The efficiencies aren't very efficient. Don't bring your doggy bags back to your room if you don't want to put them into a refrigerator that isn't cold. Bring your fly swatters if you don't like spiders that co-habitate the room with you and go buy your own breakfast if plain bagels, toast, OJ and coffee aren't continental enough for you. Whatever you do don't buy into the positive comments by Frommers and any other travel publication! There's a reason why Paradise has free parking, it's because they park everyone's cars in the main courtyard at night and leave them there till the owners come to claim them. If you don't want your car stuck inside the courtyard then park on the outside of the motel, it's a pretty safe area, but be sure to lock all your doors. I recommend taking the bus that stops right in front of the motel if you want to explore Miami, you'll save yourself from expensive parking fees (anywhere up to $20-and you can't come and go as you please). Plan on $2.50 a person roundtrip. The only thing nice about Paradise Inn Motel was the office staff, the rest of them seem to be bothered by the guests. It's location is very close to the beach, but watch out for illegal substance dumping that gets caught in the kelp. The beach by Paradise Inn is family friendly, but I recommend South beach (15 min. bus ride), which is much nicer and more fun,(You'll only run into a handful of topless sunbathers.)
