DO NOT EVER STAY HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/12
The only difference between staying in this hotel and a dump, is that you pay to stay here. The staff is rude, uninformed and completely unhelpfull. The place smells eerily like an abandoned house, mouldy and the tell tale chlorine odour reeking through to minimize the odour of who knows what. Yes there is a positive to this place, it is central to so many things of common interest to most of us who need to be downtown. What a price to pay for lack of comfort and sanitation .Next time I will at any cost stay elswhere

DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/11
We checked in and checked out within one hour. This is the worst hotel I've ever been to. The furniture is old, the mattress is old, the bedding is old, the a/c barely worked and the room smelled moldy. I checked the bed for bedbugs. I did not pack anything and did not place our bags on the floor. The windows were not clean and the television was old. There is not closet and the room was small. This place is HORRIBLE, it reminded me of that movie Vacancy. For the location this hotel is in bad need of a RENOVATION!!!!!! The elevator ride was scary. When you step into this hotel you step back into time. They should be ashamed of themselves. They don't deserve even one star! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!! GO STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Pay the extra money to stay somewhere else!

Ok hotel
By Bent, 2/27/11
We were a little nervous about the hotel, because we had read a lot. But it was a nice hotel; clean rooms, perfect location. A little minus was we could not get breakfast, but nearby we could. So next time we go to Miami we still will consider Continental Downtown Bayside......

What a DUMP!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/9/11
The only good thing about the stay was the location. However this did not make up for the Run down condition this place is in.The beds are old and need to be replaced!!The room was semi- neat but had a strong bleachy cleaner smell, not in a good way.Bottom line if we did not check in so late we would have gone to another place to stay.We will NOT stay there again, the owners may want to spend a night in one of the rooms and maybe this will clue them in on what a gross place they are offering.P.S.dont order the food on the takeout fliers that are in the room, the food was as bad as the stay!!

Hated It!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/10
My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights during spring break 2010 before leaving for our cruise. The room was clean but needed to be renovated, the bathroom was clean but felt better standing on a towel, the bed was hard, old and it was like sleeping on the floor, the elevator will scare the crap out of you because it sounds horrible, didn't have the pleasure of the dining room therefore can't comment on the food, great location across from the bay, plenty of shops and food court, never had room service

Worst hotel ever!
By fuzzybhappy, 4/3/10
This was the worse hotel ever and I will never stay there again. The beds were horrible and there was blood on the lamp shade. There were no towels for our room even after asking at the front desk. The elevator broke down several times. You should not spend your money on this hotel...I don't care how good the location is.

You get what you pay for
By R, 1/2/10
This hotel is the cheapest one in downtown Miami, I don't know why people expect a luxury experience. Put quite simply, you get what you pay for. It has outdated decor in the lobby and halls, but it is, I am sure, an old hotel. The rooms(at least ours) were very small and very basic, but decently clean(I certainly would not walk around barefoot, but that is true of any hotel for me). The bathroom was VERY small in our room, but clean. The elevators are a little worrisome at first, one shakes when it stops at a floor, but they worked fine the entire stay(4 nights), though they are slow. The location is perfect, shopping and eating across the street, a few blocks from the American Airlines Arena. I felt safe staying at the hotel, and the view(from our room facing the bay and the Port of Miami) is awesome!! In short, a good deal for a cheap hotel room in the heart of downtown, just don't expect 4 star luxury. I would stay here again.

Awesome location and price, no frills
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/09
** DO stay here if: you want a great deal, want easy access to shopping/downtown/metrorail/buses/Bayside/cruises, are not traveling by car, don't mind a little discomfort, and just need a place to crash or put your luggage. ** DON'T stay here if: you want to spend most of your time in the hotel room, are traveling with individuals who are highly allergenic, or can't do without luxury. --- Our experience (Dec. 2009): We had a cruise booked for the day following our arrival in Miami. We just needed a place to put our luggage while we went around town and a place to sleep for the night. This hotel provides just that. Check in, dump your belongings, visit the Bayside Marketplace, go around the city, come back only to sleep, and check out for the cruise the following morning. The lobby has free wireless internet. Travelers just like you often hang out in the lobby with their laptops, so the place doesn't feel terribly poor or shady. Rooms that face the port have a fabulous view, but you have to be lucky to get one of those. Our AC worked fine, though it is a little tricky to adjust it. No cups in the room and no ice machines. However, there's a CVS just 10 yards away for buying whatever snacks and items you need. If you need food, just hit the CVS or one of the numerous eateries at the Bayside, which are all within walking distance. If you're not getting on your cruise until later in the afternoon and want to explore after checking out of the hotel, they'll hold your luggage for $1 per piece. We got our luggage back just fine. The hotel will also shuttle you to the cruise port for a flat $5. No extra charges for luggage or extra people. The $5 shuttle is a great option since taxis are more expensive, and the bus that goes to the port operates infrequently. --- The bottom line: If you're going shopping and sightseeing in Miami and getting on a cruise, who cares if your room for one night is a little dirty? The $60 price and the unbeatable location (for travelers by foot/metro) easily offset the minor negatives of the hotel.
