A piece of Old Florida
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/09
The Kenilworth Lodge definitely made me appreciate what hotels used to feel like when the guests were made to feel welcome and at home. Even though the hotel is in no way new (they don't call it Old Florida style for nothing), it had a very nice and charming feel to it. Very reminiscent of days gone by when life wasn't so hectic and buildings were meant to last for the enjoyment of future generations. With the history behind this hotel I really do hope the owners will invest some money into restoring this hotel so those of us who were not around when it was built can get an even better idea of what life was like then. The hotel has 100% potential but it needs some TLC. It would definitely be nice to get rid of the ceiling tiles in the bedrooms as they completely detract from the feel of the place, and it would be awesome if the bathrooms were equipped with bear claw tubs again as I am certain that is what was there when the place was built. There are other "updates" that were made over the years that should be removed as well to bring the hotel back to its earlier charm and splendor. And if done, that would surely be splendid and a real treat for us all. Because again, the Kenilworth Lodge was meant to be around for a very long time and it would be a huge waste of a wonderful place to let it languish as is when it can and should once again be the Belle of the Ball!

A HOME AWAY FROM HOME
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/07
Excellent in every way...reservation was easy to make...we found it to be a real down home atmosphere when we arrived. Close to Downtown and the Golf Course. Great lake view and plenty of restaurants nearby. We will stay here again.

Great reminder of a bygone era
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/06/06
Don't be mistaken, this is not an alternative to a Holiday Inn or Hilton. It is a building built in 1916. Rooms are small. The plumbing & wiring are not hidden in the walls. The hallways creak as you pass. However, the front porch rocking chairs overlooking the lake remind you of times gone by and what it would have been like to travel to the middle of Florida among the swamp & orange groves eighty years ago. Personal service, public sitting areas, and the grand staircase are well worth the visit. The beds, chairs, and decor in the rooms could use to be updated, and the ceiling tiles detract from the historic feel, but overall the Kenilworth Lodge is a true Florida gem. Stay here for a truly unique experience.

Grows On you
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/21/06
We arrived the day after Christmas and found the room did not live up to the pictures The furniture is old and worn out the room was at best tolerable Great water pressure but to expensive for the quality of the room. The staff were excellent and made the stay better. I believe the Hotel will improve with time and may even end up being as good as it was in its heyday. If you like character this is for you.

Great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/05
this place was great and very old florida. Not at all like a modern, inpersonal hotel. It was a wonderful experience. There are different types of rooms so I am looking foward to going back and taking a different themed room
