Perfect vacation getaway!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/5/10
My family and I have fallen in love with Sanibel Island. We have traveled to many places since we are beach lovers and nothing compares to Sanibel. We stayed at Hurricane House, top floor with amazing views of ocean and sunsets. Especially loved the balcony off of our huge bedroom. Loved the hot tubs at night and the shell collecting was amazing. Hurricane House was literally right on the beach and the area it is in on West Gulf Drive is the most desirable area of Sanibel. We are definitely going back this January, hoping to get the same gorgeous unit we rented last year!

We will return everyear
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/20/10
This is the most convient condo, not to big with lots of kids running around, the pool and hot tubs close to the units, the view of the gulf is outstanding, a very short walk down the boardwalk to the ocean. No over crowding as with other condos. I have stayed here for years and dont here anything through the walls, to me its the perfect vacation get away

Great Get Away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/24/09
Beautiful 2 Bedrooms units sleep 6. The hide a bed not the most comfortable but passable. Great views. We go for the gulf and the get away and both are great in this small (15 units) right on the gulf. If what you want is a lot of action and activities this may not be it as they are availalbe but not on site. But for people like us that like to park it on the beach with an umbrella, a book and a great view this is about as good as it gets. I read some of the other reviews and we did not experience the noise and thin wall issues they talked about. We ate out a lot but the kitchen is well stocked and we did grill out one night and that is a great option. The beach is uncroweded. Shelling is outstanding. We will go back. Staff was responsive to our requests and otherwise invisible they way I think it should be.

Never Again
By Susan R, 5/5/09
I like the location of Hurricane House, and I like the large townhome style accomodations. Other than that, it was not my cup of tea. This place was NOISY. I could hear through the walls, day and night. The pool is small and way too close to the units. I would never stay here again.

Not Quiet and Not Relaxing
By Susan R, 12/18/08
I liked the spacious size of the unit, but that is all. I would never recommend the Hurricane House to anyone who looks forward to a quiet, relaxing vacation. The soundproofing between units was nonexistent. I heard continuous scraping of dining chairs across the tile floors... through the walls in every room of my unit. I could hear TV through the walls in both bedrooms and the living room. The pool is very close to the units and the pool conversations can be heard in the living rooms. A large puddle had to be driven through to access the under-building parking, so my car was spattered with mud all week. This is rated as a top-notch resort, but that is not an honest assessment. I would only rate this 3 out of 5 stars. I've stayed in some wonderful places on Sanibel Island, and Hurricane House is not in the same class.

We love this place!
Our family had a great time at Hurricane House last summer. It is a very nice, cozy first class resort on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. It is one of the few places that we can truly relax. We spend most of our time at one of three places: the ocean, the pool, and the fantastic screened in porch. All three areas have wonderful views and the landscaping is very lush and tropical (even though they had were hit by a hurricane a year earlier). There are only 15 units but they all have a direct view of the ocean and pool. This place is very special to us and we look forward to going back for another relaxing week.

Hurricane House in January
By Mark Seamans, 7/31/04
Beautiful resort. Very small and quiet, only 15 units managed by Hilton. 2 bedroom condos all with gulf views. Free golf for 4 people daily at the Dunes Country Club just pay cart fees. Great golf course. We love it in January because it is very crowded and the weather is outstanding. Our favorite place to visit.
