Sick
By Stephanie, 09/09/09
The place had a nice pool and location, but the rooms were entirely filthy. I stayed there with my JROTC class for a Nationals competition, and the room I was in had a damp floor that smelled of mold, the power outlets wouldn't work, and there was actually a cockroach in the tub when we opened the curtains. One of the beds was damp, and the furnace wouldn't work. My team had eight people, and so had two adjoining rooms; only one microwave and refrigerator out of the two sets worked. My friend had a severe respiratory attack from the mold and dampness, and nearly everyone had sinus backup from the stay. It was horrible, especially for an event like a national competition that we had to be in our best physical condition possible, and I am trying to petition that we pick a different hotel for this year's trip. Despite that, again, the pool was beautiful and the location was good. Staff wasn't too bad, either. The place just seriously needs fixing up- I think everyone got sick building syndrome from it.

Terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/08
Immediately upon checking in and going to our room we had to check out. The lobby and hall areas were dirty. The walls were marked and there was broken glass. The room condition was terrible. The door to the room was difficult to open and to close. The lock on the door could not be secured. The room smelled of cigarette smoke and mold. We had requested a non-smoking room. The room contained a connecting door to the next room which could also not be secured. The door was able to be opened. The bathroom was filthy and appeared to have not been cleaned from the previous visitor(s). There was "personal" hair in and round the shower and toilet. There was hair in and around the sink. There was sand on the bathroom floor and mold everywhere in the bathroom. Upon sitting on the bed, the bedspread was covered in sand. Pulling the sheets back to inspect the linens, the sheets were dirty and appeared to have not been changed from the previous customer. The sheets, well to put it nicely, were spotted from a night of love making. It was clear upon inspection these weren’t stains but actual soiled linens. Both the sheets and the blankets were dirty. We immediately checked out. We were informed by an employee that the Ocean Resorts company is trying to sell the hotels and are doing very little to maintain the properties. I wouldn't send a homeless person there. It was terrible! We went to another hotel and paid double the rate but at least it was clean!

50/50
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/08
The hotel was OK, abit expensive for what you got. Given 2 rooms keys, only one was activated, hot tub / spa was broken, front door to our room did not shut or lock, secured by the security lever only. Floor tile in bathroom & kitchenette was filty....needs a good mopping, wall tile in bathroom needs to be re-grouted, entire building and balconys are sparling from the years of salt water...needs repairing. Beds were comfortable, with clean sheets, clean towels daily, A/C blows cold, TV was fine, all the lights worked, frig was clean & cold. Not the best place to honeymoon, but to be a beach bum for a weekend it works.

We WON'T COME BACK!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/08
Dislike: The place needs totally redoing. The carpet is stained. The bathroom tub was slick and it was where it almost made me fall. The TV did not work. We left and when we came back it worked. There was not a battery cover on the TV remote. We were advised when we registered that we had oceanview rooms and when we arrive we end up with poolside. Excuse me when I come to see the ocean and not the pool that is not an UPGRADE as they called it. On the front of the telephone the inside wires of the phone could be seen on the front side instead of being covered with a plastic piece. Rust could be seen all over the stairways as we entered through the side door. A good coat of paint would help. When the rooms were reserved in advance over the phone, I was never told that I would be charged for the room in advance instead of at check in time. Also, I had reserved two rooms but another one in someone else's name and that person was not allowed to check-in until the Bermuda House personally spoke to me and they were paying for the room in their name. This was no deal on this room as it should have been with a bowling tournament going on with many in town for it.No, we will not go to this place again and neither will the other parties that accompanied us to the area.

A great place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/08
After I booked at the hotel I read all the bad reviews. I was concerned about the choice I made but I shouldn't have been. The staff was great and the sevice was also great. The room overlooking the ocean was clean. For the amount of money this place was a great choice. I would recommend it and I will be going back again!

Totally unproffesional staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/28/08
I stayed for 2 nights in jan 08,They waved the parking fee of 5 DOLLARS THEY CHARGE EVERYONE.Because i complained before i paid. When i went in the second day to pay for another night, they said i was already paid up.Finally after 5 attempts to say im not paid up i gave up.The next day when i wanted to stay a 3rd night, i knew by then they might find thier error wich they did.I was willing to pay the night they said i didnt owe! Plus a 3rd night. The only problem was they wanted to charge me more(it was a weekday stay) than the original night. After i gave them a peice of my mind, they called the cops on me. Avoid at all costs.

this place is a dump
By Bead Queen, 10/18/07
My cousin booked a set of rooms for our group for a family reunion. She had stayed at the hotel before and said it was good. She is from Florida and I guess they are used to a different level of hotels than I am. Our rooms were on the first floor by the pool, which was convenient for hanging out. My room smelled like mildew and was in need of a good cleaning, carpets, bathroom and floors. The lamp on one side of my bed didn't work, so I told housekeeping and they said it wasn't plugged in because there weren't any plugs on that side of the room. It was just there to balance the look of the lamp on the other side of the bed. Out of five rooms for our group, none of the safes worked. They automaticly charge you $1.50 per day, even if your safe doesn't work. You then have to ask to have it deducted at the end of your stay. They also charge $5.00 per day to park. Because we had some problems with our rooms, they deducted that charge too. One of our rooms had broken cabinet doors in the kitchenette and another had wet carpet from a leaky air conditioner. All of our rooms had trouble with hot water. I let my shower run for a long time and never did get really hot water. Both the showers I took were lukewarm at best. I agree with others that the staff was very friendly and nice and the pool was very nice. Unfortunately that doesn't make up for the fact that the owners of the property haven't maintained it. The rooms are dirty, out of date and in disrepair. I would recommend staying elsewhere!

Not a good choice
By C Scott, 09/24/07
While not a flea bag hotel, it is no better than 1.5 stars. I saw no signs of the much touted construction or improvement. We had two rooms at this hotel. One was second floor and liveable, meaning it was dry and odorless and in relatively good condition. The furniture and fixtures are old and dated, the bathroom was small with a non-functioning exhaust fan (meaning it made the whole suite damp). Bathroom fixtures were old, somewhat stained, but all worked as expected. The cleanliness of the carpet was a concern the whole time. The door to the balcony was old, difficult to open, and the hardware was just barely hanging on. The view of the beach was very nice. The other room, #115, was damp throughout with a terrible musty odor. Even pulling the bedsheets back revealed the underlying covers to be damp The shower head made one small steady stream. This room should be sealed off permanently. In both rooms the TV and air conditioning were brand new and worked very well. Every one of the outside doors (except the main front door) was in poor repair. Missing or barely-there hardware, very unclean to the touch, and quite old. The pool area is incredible - nice furniture, great pool area, and well maintained pool. The breakfast area was similarly nice. Continental breakfast was cereal, prepackaged danish, instant oatmeal and grits, juice and coffee. Staff was always pleasant and accomodating. The hotel is a study in contrasts. Very nice public areas with courteous and helpful staff. Quite poor rooms that seem to have suffered the ravages of age without adequate investment in physical plant maintenance. We paid $70/night for a beach front room; comparatively a good price for a view of the beach. However, for another $40/night I stayed at the LaQuinta down the street. It too is beach front but my room was not. However, the rooms here were clean, well maintained, and comfortable. I'd spring for the extra $40/night in a heartbeat. No amount of excellent courteous service can overcome a poorly maintained room. You have better options in Daytona along the same beach in a similar price range. Do yourself a favor and exercise those opions.

It was...o.k
By cassie l, 08/19/07
Check in was not good. They had our reservation but it took us three trys to find our room. The elevator was scary. It was old, dirty, smelly and the date to have it inspected had expired. We wanted to stay here because of the Tiki bar, which wasn't open all but once. The Jucuzzi was also closed the entire time. The room was clean but the bathroom was not. It was moldy and the toilet handle had to be held down to flush. Our door didn't shut unless you put body weight into it, so one day after spending all day gone from our room, we came back to find our door still ajar. Thankfully, nothing was stolen. Beach access is really easy to get to and was easily the best part of this expirence. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

Needs cosmetic improvement!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/07
My family received a free 3 day, 2 night stay at this hotel because of a time share tour that we were required to attend. If we had to pay for the stay, I would not have done so. As I reading the reviews, I was agreeing with the dislikes of the reviews. We noticed the following: - one elevator was quite an experience - our door to the room did not shut properly (saw light around door and the door did not automatically shut upon being opened) - couple of roaches in room - bathroom fan did not work properly - bathroom sink does not have a release for drain stopper - refrigerator door did work properly (did not shut unless you lifted up on the door first) - refrigerator was rusted near the top hinge - looking at the side of the building, we noticed where the AC units have caused rust colored spots on the balconies - the hallways were warm but we figured it was because of people coming out of the pool do not need cold air in the hallways - no top sheet on one of the beds The staff was nice. We did not try the breakfast, so I can't comment on this. We also had to pay $5.00 a day for parking.
