Terrible

Dear Choice Hotels,
I am writing to express my disappointment with a hotel listed on your website. I selected the Comfort Inn Airport at RJ Stadium on February 17, 2006. My reservation was for one night, NON-SMOKING, with notification that I would require a guaranteed late arrival for March 22, 2006. Note the reservation was made well in advance of the visit.
I arrived around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, March 22 and was informed that the only room available, per the Manager on duty, was a SMOKING room. The Manager explained that when you reserve rooms on line, by the time the reservation request reaches the hotel, the specific request may not be able to be met, as in this case, a non-smoking room was not available. I would question the confirmation process if this is the case. Upon entering the room, it was obvious that this was a smoking room. The smell knocked me over and I am pressed to believe that any type of preventive cleaning was done to the sheets and pillows as I inhaled second hand smoke all night long. In an attempt to circulate air within the room, I turned the air conditioning unit on only to find that it produeced a very strong mildew odor.
Also, which I found very disturbing, the outside lights to the first floor level rooms, which are separate from the main hotel, were out, which left that section of the parking lot/sidewalk dark and VERY uncomfortable walking to the room, especially with the many individuals entering and exiting the rooms on this level. In the morning, upon my departure, these outside lights were on.
Needless to say, I will NOT be using this site again to reserve a hotel room. It was obvious to me that the hotel staff did not feel that I deserved the same respect of my choice in hotel room because of the choice to use the website to make the reservation. I called the day off our stay to confirm my late arrival, and at that time, nothing was mentioned that they could not accomodate my request of a non-smoking room.
I thought you should know of this experience.
