Good Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/09
My husband and I stayed here when it was the Holiday Inn everytime we came back to Miami. It's close to Miracle Mile, there's a great Cuban cafes on Miracle Mile about two miles from the hotel. Sergio's. I can say some of the stays weren't always the best service. But, when we came back one year and saw that it was closed we were disappointed. But, it reopened as a Courtyard...so that's good. We'll go back again to try it out.

Absolutely the best!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/18/09
This Marriott allowed us to check in by noon when check in wasn't supposed to be until 3 and they gave us a much nicer room than we had paid for, off the pool in a Cabana Suite with a small private sitting area outside our room. It is very beautiful inside and out. Ms. Mara and the young man (Fernando?) at the desk couldn't have been more wonderful, friendlier nor so helpful. I would have given them a perfect 5 in every category except there is nothing much near the facility, only a BK, though Miracle Mile is within a few blocks. However, the cabbie said it used to be a run-down Holiday Inn and has gotten so much nicer under Marriott. He said Marriott has done a lot of renovation and remodeling. The landscaping is very nice and I couldn't have asked for a better room. They were most anxious that we be happy with our room. We would go back there in a heartbeat! Thanks so much, Ms. Mara and Fernando(?).

Poor service, noisy guests, crummy restaurant, dirty rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/07
I am a business traveler. I had a job near this hotel and decided to try it. They did not honor my reservation when I arrived, and only offered a less desirable room than the one I reserved, but no break in price. It took more that one hour to check in, and there was no help with baggage. The restaurant was typical Holiday Inn - poor service, bad food, high prices. The hotel is a favorite of drunken students and rowdy construction workers. I will move to one of the Hampton Inns nearby.

only if absolutely necessary
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/07
Even though it had hardly any guests, they charge high prices for spring break month. One elevator did not work. There are no fans in any bathrooms so after a shower, the bathroom was pretty much horrible to use as the toilet seat and counters were all wet from the humidity of the shower. Trying to air it out only made the room really humid. I was told no room had a fan that would work. I ate breakfast there to use my free Priority Club money, but it was pretty bad. The english muffin was cold, dry, and hardly toasted. The sausage to make it a sandwich arrived about five minutes later. The first morning, I found a cockroach in the bathroom, and the second night my husband caught one as it was running in front of the dresser that the TV sits on. The swimming pool was not heated so it was too uncomfortably cold to enjoy. But the staff was really nice and helpful. The location was great being a UM parent visiting my daughter. Value was awful esp. for what we got....would only stay there if the price was at least half what we paid and no other hotel was available.

Never Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/06
Pure and simple, the hotel is a disgrace. Never would I have thought a hotel located in Coral Gables would be so shabby. I have to be in the area soon and or course I will not stay in your hotel.

Don´t go there!
By Manuel Mazzanti, 03/28/06
I was there for four days last week, and it was not one of my best hotel experiences. The restaurant is ver poor, as well as the service there. I asked for a spoon and they gave a fork, since the cleaning person had not arrived yet!! (9am..), so you can imagine the rest . Tables were dirty. For $165 the night, I would suggest you go somewhere else.

horrible experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/05
It was a dump. Not to mention the night clerk was making up stories about me and discussing these things with who ever called me. Talk about privacy problems.

didn't think I would survive the night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/05
I stayed here when American Airlines messed up my flight and had to put me up for the night - apparently they wanted to save money. No airport shuttle arrived so I took a cab (10 minutes). When we got there, about 15 "guests" had taken over the place - they were smoking Blunts out in front, walking around drinking rum and JD from the bottles, and just generally trying to intimidate everyone that came into contact with them. The staff didn't seem to care and would stop helping guests check in in order to give the gangs change or tell them how much the beer cost. The rooms were filthy, the elevators didn't work (the stairs lead you outside to the alley - nice surprise), and the restaurant looked very third-worldish. I tried to call out to the airport hotel and get out of there on my own dime but guess what . . . the phone didn't work. Avoid this hellhole at all costs.

An incredible place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/05
My name is Alejandra De la O. I went with my parents last September and stayed there for 3 days. The rooms were clean, the food great and conveniently located in Coral Gables. This summer I might go again and stay overthere. I will recommend its service, cleanliness and location.

good location marred by bad restuarant and worse decor
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/08/05
Check in went rather well, but had to get a new key three times. Restuarant service was HORRIBLE, the servers (an ironic title for them) didn't care what you wanted or needed, in fact, they disappeared after they took your order. The food took way too long to come out and when it did arrive it was dry, tough and sometimes even burnt. The front desk crew was mostly helpful, and friendly, but I never could get either my door key or internet connection to work properly. The hotel interior is ugly (especially the 70s comforters and carpeting) and crumbling, but not as dirty as the other posters make it out (though there was a cigarette hole in my comforter!). The guy driving the shuttle to the airport was EXTREMELY rude, he even threw my bags back at me (it almost hit in the back of the head) when he picked up a new guest and then insisted I get off early and walk to my check-in area (it not like it was far, but its the principle of the matter). Its a good location: just two blocks from Miracle Mile and 10 blocks from Merrick Park (GIANTIC fashion mall). Too bad the interior and restuarant were so abismal.
