Totally Disappointed - Would Never Go Back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/09
First of all, we didn't get the accommodations we asked for even though we booked months in advance. We were assured a two-bedroom suite with a pull-out couch. Instead of a second bedroom in the suite, two beds were blocked off with a wooden screen which afford little privacy from the living/kitchen area, and there was no pull-out couch. Instead of trying to fix the problem, the staff kept blaming the company that booked the reservation. After driving from Michigan, it took the hotel almost 24 hours to come up with a reasonable solution. The hallways of the hotel were dirty and dangerous (there were holes in the broken cement floors and trash). The carpeting in the rooms were wet and damp smelling from air conditioning condensation leaking directly onto the floor. In the bedroom of one of the suites, there was no air conditioning - just a ceiling fan. The only cool air in that room was from leaving the bedroom door open to the main area. We awoke every morning at 8:00 a.m. to the sound of jackhammers (we were told by reservations that the hotel was undergoing renovation, not major construction!). Plaster was falling from the ceiling in one of our rooms and the vibration from the jack hammers made the problem worse. We had to get new key cards each day for the first three days because there was a problem with the door locks. The ice machine near our room leaked water onto the floor, so we had to walk around puddles every day. We complained about the various problems, but got little if any action. My family saved all year to take this vacation and it was simply awful. It was a good thing we spent most of our time on the beach or at the pool. This place is a dump!

Don't bother staying at this hotel.
By Hepe, 04/05/09
I just came home after a few days of body surfing in Daytona Beach. I feel I need to throw in my five cents where I stayed at. The Hawaiian Inn is in dismal state and would require massive renovation to get it to habitable state. The ongoing repair will not do much good as many structural supports and beams were marked in red paint indicating major repairs are required. Lots of cracks in the concrete; electrical repairs on the hallways are not safe, open conduits allowing water to enter and flow into junction boxes...zap! The hotel is old (1971) and so expect to see clear tapes holding the concrete bannisters in the patios, doors were very sticky/hard to open. The only plus is most staff are really nice. Daytona Beach is nice almost everywhere so you're better off staying somewhere else. And yeah, Hawaiin Inn is partly condo... so there's a few owners who are a bit sour having...well anybody around.

Jackhammers, dust, noise: Renters Beware
By Judy, 01/12/09
No mention of the on-going construction on web sites trying to rent out rooms here. Jackhammers, dust, closed floors, water shut off....Terrible place for a holiday.

Never go here again
By Sadie, 10/14/08
we got there and there elavators did not work we had to use stairs, our 1st room key did not work, 2nd room had standing water and smelled, rust was all over the frigde and microwave, we got 3rd room and that one had mold, and roaches were on the bed, and found one in my shoe! That room also smelled, the sheets and pillows smelled as well. We ended up checking out at 1:00 am. Got a refund but our vacation was spoiled, to say the least we will never go back to this dump

Web site is misleading!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/08
When we made the reservation, I was told, WE WOULD HAVE THE "BEST" ROOM. We get there the front desk are friendly, the building is old but clean, the pool and the putt putt golf was dirty and the court yard needed cleaning. We go to our so called BEST room and it was a dump. I had asked for a kitchen and what they call a kitchen was a 2 burner on a side wall. The carpet was old and dirty the so called private balcony was not private. It had a short wall on both side but teenagers were crawling over them. The balcony needed alot of major work and they are not private. The bathroom was old and did not look clean. We did not stay. Our so called BEST room was a joke. We will never stay at this place. The pictures of there rooms on their web site is not what we paid for not what we were suppose to had stayed in. I was very DISAAPOINTED.

VACATION 07
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/10/08
This summer of 08 we will be returning to the Hawaiian Inn for our 5th summer. Be cautions on who you rent from b/c you dont know what kind of room you will get. We had one bad experiance with a condo owner our 1st year. Then we stayed with a differant owner loved the room. The hotel itself is old BUT so much fun and the pool is gigantic the layout of the hotel is perfect. And the rooms are for the most part clean. We like staying on the 1st ocean front not pool front. Their is alot of great owners who take very good care of their condo. If you rent from the front desk be carefull.

203 very nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/13/08
My party had two rooms, my room (203)was fantastic . My parents room was not as nice. The pool deck is great, I visited a year ago also and the hotel has came a long way. The location is nice. I would recommend this to anyone, I would, however, check out the room before I paid as each room is very different. All in all, can't be beat for the money.
