Horrible!
By Joni, 4/19/11
Have you ever seen a bad brochure! Well the pictures of this place do not clearly describe! There were 2 good things about this place, the shower was awesome and the AC other than that the room smelled, carpet was disgusting, no tissues in room, no hangers, the continental breakfast was a joke! Parking is a joke! Pool was nice but not one table w/umbrella to get shade. If they invested a little money in this place it could actually be nice but I dont see that happening!

Nicely Redone
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/13/11
I came a week ago and a friend (local) suggested this hotel, It was ok price wise, 99$ a night (mid week) for ocean view room (So now I'm back lol). First time I got the very first room (101) opens to the parkinglot on one side, pool and ocean on the other, only thing is you had to keep curtains closed or everyone in the pool could see in. This time I'm on the 3rd floor and I love it! It was recently renovated, rooms are clean, pillows soft, ac's work fine, beautiful views, friendly staff, free wifi & parking (valet available) Haven't tried the breakfast but the people next door said it was good. I'd recommend this to friends and family. Because of the great location and service Daytona is my new destination, Miami is just too expensive and crowded.

A Tired old hotel in a tired old beach town
By Leicester Lad, 5/27/10
A Tired old hotel in a tired old beach town, only stayed one night and decided to move on to St Augustine instead. It was so bad I almost checked out an hour after I checked in. Room was in really bad condition, I wish I had read the reviews before I checked in, they were not lying about this place. The Continental breakfast was very poor (toast, Bagels and Coffee) not even any Corn Flakes, or fruit, I had a bagel and coffee and then drove to a small cafe for breakfast. I mean't ask what Continent this Continental Breakfast was from. No free Wireless Internet, credit card needed, and a lot of information needed to sign up for it, I gave up and went to Mc Donalds to check my email. I could not believe that they wanted $5.00 a day to park at a hotel I was paying to stay in. On the whole I think that the whole of Daytona Beach is ripe for new mangement and overhaul, so many empty shops and restaurants, it was so much better 20 years ago....I won't go back.

Father and Son 4 day visit 2010
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/7/10
Like: free continental brkfst. on beach. Microwave. Dislike: wifi needed credit card, kinda a long walk from the movies and boardwalk. ok in summer tho. Hot tub under repair. Rooms were smallish. Bathroom tight. I'd return visit of the price is fair.

Buyer Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/13/09
We were quickly disappointed as we arrived for our 1 week stay at this hotel. It did not take us long to realize we would be asking for a refund and going somewhere else. Upon arrival, we learned we would have to PAY a daily parking fee. The lot was small and the underground parking was dirty, smelly, and had leaking water pipes above most of the spots, so you had to watch and duck when you got in and out of your car. We obviously knew there would ne no bell boy, but did think they shoud have a cart available to help with your luggage. The front desk seemed to be under-staffed as multiple families waited for check in or other requests. All was still OK at this point, until we saw our room. It was very small for a suite, with the door almost hitting one of the beds when you walked in, and no balcony. It had been "cleaned" for new guests, but the room was not really "clean." It was very old and VERY worn. There were numerous stains on the carpet, and even a leftover piece of trash under the tv stand from previous guests. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, the kitchen counter was held in place by a make-shift block to keep from falling down, and you could hardly get into the bathroom if someone was already in the kitchen. The couch was very stained and grimy with small holes in the upholstry. Overall, the hotel is very old and has not been remodeled or upgraded in many years. It obviously gets much wear and tear. The front entrance from the street looks nice as well as the lobby, but it unfortunately stops there. The computer pictures are decieving. It IS in a great location right on the beach, but still too run down and dirty for even my liking. I could have stayed there maybe 1 night without kids, but I could NOT stay there a week with my small children that I knew would be playing on the floor and touching lots of things. We asked for a refund, which they did give, and found a great Best Western up the street that was MUCH nicer, cleaner, and friendlier!

A Lot Of Things Wrong / Only A Few Things Right
By fixyourthinking, 4/24/09
First, when we arrived our hotel room wasn't ready ... even though check in time was listed as 3PM. It was annoying that we got to the hotel at 1PM and had to wait a while ... but we understood this as our issue not the hotel's. I mention that because NOTHING at The Boardwalk felt accommodating. We asked multiple times for additional towels and for sheets for the pull out bed and had to ask 3-5 times each time we had the smallest of requests. The lobby was CONSTANTLY filled with angry people making the same general requests ... towels, sheets, etc. Upon check in we went to our room and saw that it was a one room standard double, not a kitchenette suite that we had booked online. When we returned to the front desk we were told that Orbitz false advertised their rooms. Actually we did book through Orbitz, but only affiliate booking through their website. We had a room number and everything and WE WERE SWITCHED TO A DIFFERENT NUMBER AT CHECK IN. We were moved to the right room. Later when I went to get extra towels - I saw two other guests checking in with exact same issue. This hotel CLEARLY tries to bait and switch and are very ungrateful to Orbitz who apparently does a lot of bookings for them - otherwise - who would know about this place? The continental breakfast is unattended and often runs out of food - what little choice their is. It is the same old bagels, danish, cereal EVERY morning. Small items like cream cheese, butter, etc would often run out as would choices on cereals. I asked the front desk each morning for replenishment of at least one item. Only during the weekend was it EVER done. Our hotel room was pretty nice but sand was all over the carpet in the living room upon entry. The bathroom was clean BUT there were lots of cracks in the seams and there was a large softball size dark brown rusted area in the tub. The shower head was sprayed an uncomfortable stream of water. There is a parking fee of $5 per day but there isn't anything special ... in fact ... most of the time one is inconvenienced to get to their car. We just lucked up on a good parking space a few days of our stay and on other days we parked in a overflow parking lot about a block away. Unless I'm staying in a name brand hotel like the Hilton I don't expect much from a beach hotel ... but nothing about this hotel would make me return. The pool area was a bit worn down with most of the lounge chairs broken. Teenagers - around the age of 16 had open containers of alchohol all around the hotel. The front desk usually only had one person that was constantly challenged and made it seem like they were the only person working in the hotel. We had a kitchenette in our room - no can opener, no pans for the oven, no frying pan for the stove, and no sharp cutting knives. I requested each of these items and never received them to my room. I used to come to Daytona Beach a lot as a child, but only remembered the hotel we stayed in The Ocean Sands. It is obvious to me while our stay wasn't horrible - I will be staying somewhere else ... as when we walked we saw MANY similar quality hotels with ample staffing, better continental breakfasts, and cleaner pool areas with well kept decks. It is obvious this hotel doesn't try. This is just the short list;-)

Disgraceful Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/27/09
On arrival having paid in full for accommodation, there was no booking, had to wait 1 hour having travelled from Ireland, tired and hungry. Got up next morning to no electricity, no hot water. Staff are moody and miserable. Don't stay here. Plenty of nicer hotels very close by.

Not Perfect, Good value $44
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/08
First room we got had a few issues, rotten food in fridge, no hot water, no heat, (was in the 40's at night), they moved us to another. Still no heat, but sent a nice guy to fix it in a few minutes. You can tell this used to be a very nice place about 10 years ago. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was better than expected. Daytona Beach as a whole is circling the bowl... homeless people, boarded up/falling down hotels and busineses. The Oyster Pub is still as good as it was 25 years ago and that made the trip worthwhile.

An Average, yet aging, hotel
By KevinW, 2/2/08
This hotel is right on the beach, but quite a distance from the major Daytona Beach shopping, entertainment and boardwalk districts, even though the name might imply otherwise. The service was nothing amazing; the breakfast was quite nice, though, and it was free. The lobby is very nicely designed, with a fountain outsdie that can be seen through the large windows. Inside, potted palms and beachy furniture fill the spacious interior. The rooms are another thing, however. They are slightly larger that your average hotel room, but smell kind of musty, and the windows were very dirty. There is free Wifi here; the bathroom was average and not dirty, but the beds were very hard and uncomfortable, and they need to be replaced asap. I stayed on the ground floor, so my room opened up onto its own private verandah that descended onto the pool deck. The upper floors, however, do not have balconies, and only a portion of the rooms are oceanfront---so be sure to ask for an oceanfront room on the ground floor. The outdoor pool was very large and also very clean, and the hot tub was a nice touch. Overall, tyhe Boardwalk Inn & Suites is a nice place to stay overnight for a day at the beach before you head off to bigger and better things.
