Great move for us
By Denis Volkerson, 8/20/11
We just got back home from Marathon and our stay at the Holiday Inn. I am a Priority Club member so I have stayed at a number of Holiday Inn around the country. We booked the room at the last minute and we were pleased that we did. It is new, clean room with King bed which was plenty for us. The breakfast bar had it's standard variety and was well maintained and so was the pool area which had plenty of towels on hand. There is a resturaunt located behind thehotel (not owned by H.I.) along with another across the street. Both are excellent. If you want McDonalds (????) there is one down the road. The price was right knowing that it is lobster season and the prices change seasonally.

Please do not pay attention to these old reviews. We have built a brand new property planned to open in October 20,2010. If you had a bad experience at our old Holiday Inn please give us the opportunity to serve you again. This is a brand new 134 room hotel with all state of the are amenaties. 24 Hour Fitness Center, 24 Hour Business Center, Full Hot Breakfast daily, Free phone calls, Free Internet... Please do not listen to these reviews as they are from our old property. Lisa Kaminski General Manager

DO NOT RECOMMEND
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/5/08
My experience: Five buddies and I book a hotel here and in Keywest for the Labor Day weekend trip. This is our 4th annual trip to the keys for fun in the sun and our lobster adventure. Unfortunately Hurricane Gustav has plans of its own and comes through this very same weekend. We were reluctant to cancel, we waited to the last minute to make the call but there was no way we were going after hearing the warnings and watches posted. I canceled the hotel but they will not refund me the money, the keywest hotel was understanding. This will be the last time I stay at this hotel and do not recommend staying here.

Worst Service and Hotel ever!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/08
I have never stayed at a Holiday Inn and got the worse service ever like this one in Marathon, Florida. This was a joke. I checked in around 10pm, and got a room not only that was filthy, but the AC didn't even work. I called the front desk, and she sent up maintenance and he saw how that it wasn't working. I went into another room. Guess what? The other room I was put into still had a broken AC. There were no other rooms available. Another maintenance guy was sent up, and said to me, " Well your in an older room, and I'm not going to be able to fix this tonight." I called the front desk clerk who was extremely rude and said well the only nearest hotel I can send you to is in Miami. I just drove 5 hrs from West Palm Beach to go to the Keys for the first time, and I'm going to drive all the back to Miami? How convenient!!! I said to her that I feel I shouldn't be charged for the room because of the inconvenience and having to sleep in a room with a broken AC, and she said the most I could do is 10% off. As I was complaining about the room, she's like, "I resent you saying that, these rooms are very nice, and I certainly wouldn't want the room 60 degrees." hmmmm... Interesting? Isn't the whole idea of staying in a hotel is to accommodate the guest? I called guest relations about the front desk clerks attitude and the situation with the AC, and fortunately, I was able to get a full refund of my money. If you're going to go to the Keys, Stay in Key West, and be prepared to pay alot of money if you want a decent place.

needs updating
By DJL, 6/3/07
1st room we were put in had a leak in the ceiling from the upstairs unit and carpet was wet, we were moved to another room and the carpet in that room was stained and dirty, the beds were worn out and bath room had mold on ceiling in bath tub, Kitchen was closed due to something being broke and part not in. For the price the Holiday Inn in Key Largo is much better. Of all the Holiday Inns we have stayed at this was by far the worse. I will only book at this Inn after looking at room 1st, again rooms appear to be in bad need of updating.

Don't stay in Marathon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/22/05
The city of Marathon is VERY far away from Key West which is where 99.9% of activities are in the Keys. It takes over an hour to drive to Key West. There are NO activities around the hotel, and few restaurants. The hotel is your typical Holiday Inn Motel. Nothing fancy.

Good value for money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/21/05
Overall, this is very good value for money. Pleasant personell, decently priced breakfast and dinners. Also adjacent to good restaurant, across the road. Definitely not a resort or 4 star hotel, but very good value. Also, Marathon is very good location for exploring Keys both east and west.

Nice stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/05
The room was clean. The pool was with warm water that we could swim during the night hrs when the temp was only around 50 that night. The tiki bar looked not attracted - can do better. The seafood restaurant cross the street was a neat place with good food.
