local review
By Sharon, 06/14/09
We enjoy the golf course, it is a fast pace. We are local and play here often. Nice group of people/ GM. Stayed here once and I enjoyed the yoga class. I would recommend. Good place for families, good pricing. Club is a little dated.

Excellent deal for the money spent
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/21/07
Guests have commented Club Med Sandpiper may not be glamorous or it may not be 5 stars, but it is an excellent vacation for the money spent. When you consider all the activities, food, and entertainment provided to guests in relation to what you spend, I think you'll find this a great deal! Always less than Disney and always more fun!

Viral Epidemic in April 2007
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/07
At first we liked the friendliness of the reception staff, although I was a bit surprised that no wifi was made avaialble through the village. This would be a given in any american resort today. The rooms are big, admittedly, but very dirty, with lots of dust and mold in the bath room. The staff is very very friendly. Except for the staff in the child care. They kept our 2.5 year old wandering around lost and crying until a friend called us to tell us about it. Our 11 month old was crying and he was turned facing the garden, away from the children and the caregivers, which of course terrified him immensely. We stopped immediately bringing our children to the children care. As of our arrival people started alerting us of a virus or food poisining problem that affects mainly children. The staff kept mumm about. On the third day our first child became sick. Lots of vomitic and diarrhea were the symptoms. We knew at least another 15 people who told us their children or parents had gotten sick. Then our daugther also got sick. I spoke with the village manager, Tom Keidel, who denied anything was wrong and said that we had brought the virus from the outside. Be very carefulw with this resort. The hygiene is very poor and there is a viral epidemic going around there.

Would not visit again, Rated C+
By R, 01/08/07
This is a nice Hotel but do not be confused...this is NOT a resort! The facilities are worn and the rooms need a serious upgrade. Drapes torn, bathroom tile cracked, screens broken, couches worn out. Yes the food service was very good, actually the highlight of our stay, however I did see cockroaches in the food tables and there was an terrible smell near the beverage area they couldn't seem to fix. They did offer many free activities; tennis, pitch/putt golf, archery, rock climbing, circus trapize, sailing, and lots of activities for the kids. However the beach was only 20 yards long and the water was a brown color. Three beautiful pools and only one was heated and there was no jacuzzi or Spa! This was a big disappointment for my family. As for the employees, the restaurant staff was very good and accommodated several special requests. The activity staff (GO's) were all very friendly, nice and fun. The rest of the staff was hot and cold, some were helpful but most were not and boardered on rude. Bottom line is I would not book another vacation here and would not recommend this to anyone in my family.

A good time was had by all!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/06
Club Med Sandpiper was very clean. The staff was very helpful and kind. The maids did not speak much english. Our bartender, Matt, was OUTSTANDING!!! The food was very good. Friday night's dinner was wonderful! We used alot of the facilities. Outside trips, like the waverunners, were overpriced. One suggestion: keep the kids out of the bar after 9:00 PM. All bar activities, like karoke or games, were overrun by kids.

Good place for kids
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/22/06
Not a luxury place. The USA needs an all-inclusive resort - but this isn't it. Best description is a lages room Motel 6 with average to below average all you can eat buffets. Kids seemed to like it. Not a good place for adults. No separate areas (children games in the bar, children got their soda's etc at the bar). Meat eaters will do ok - but veg lovers - get used to lettuce! Hot Food temp seemed on the cool. Food was about quantity - not quality. Pool was closed due to a baby accident. Website said the in suite frdges would be stocked - ours was empty. Getting coffee cups (and coffee) for the in suite coffee was a challenge. Our maid didn't speak English. Beds are old & worn out. The sofa had a blue sheet for it's cover. The walls need fixing. The bathroom ceiling had rotted through. We didn't see any smoke detectors in the room. The TV is a tiny old thing stuck up in the corner. Occasionally the cable worked. It is obvious it all needs repair from the many tropical storms that have hit it. Bulldozing is a good option!

Inexpensive, great for teens
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/06
We found Club Med to be very reasonably priced for our family of 5. Shop around and book with an online travel discounter for the best price. With 3 teenagers, trying to pay al a carte for all the activities they did, would have cost us double anywhere else. We always feel we received more than we paid for at Club Med!

please read this before you book!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/08/06
#1 the shower and shower curtain were moldly, the room was anything but child friendly, everything just generally looked old. #2 the oddest thing of the hotel-the staff sits with you at meals-the employees invite themselves to your table at meals. #3 all of the employees -including childcare - drink and party more than the guests - if there are 5 guests at the bar there are likely to be at least 20 employees drinking and partying
