Excellent experience exceeded expectations
By Nancy, 01/17/10
The location in walking distance from Union Station made it easy and fun for us get on the Open Top sightseeing bus and get everywhere we wanted to go. The view of the Capitol from our room was thrilling for our grandchildren (ages 9 and 6) and us too. Services were all friendly and very helpful. The discount price was an incredible value for such a beautiful hotel.

Most enjoyable stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/09
Loved the location and decor. Very roomy rooms. Friendly staff. Charged for internet use. Shouldn't be the case for a hotel of this calibre.

Design screw-up in the bathroom
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/29/09
The water controls for the bathtub/shower are on the left side. So is the wash basin/vanity. You slide the doors of the shower all the way to the right to access the controls and then all the way to the left to enter the shower from the right end. The opening, when adjusting the water is not big enough, with the vanity in the way, to step into the shower from the left side. Very strange set up. They serve the worst $3.95 breakfast buffet I've ever had for $16.95. The French toast is made with powdered milk that they forgot to add liquid to and no eggs. The link sausage is worse than the cheapest brand in your local grocery. The scrambled eggs are just flattened inner tubes, painted yellow. The afternoon bartender has something going with one of the desk guys and had to be called over to the bar to get us a glass of overpriced wine. The coffee that is available at 7am in the lobby, close to the restaurant entrance is not free, as one might expect, but goes for $2 per cup. Big styrofoam cups though, just what you'd expect from a four and a half star hotel. Other than those few problems it was a nice room on the fifteenth floor, overlooking the National Realtors Association building. We found out that a $6 breakfast at the Billy Goat Bar and Grill in that building was well worth the price............Denver Omelet, hashbrowns, toast, coffee and juice. Three minute walk to Union Station. Very handy if you're arriving by train.

We were able to purchase Trolly tickets right from the gift shop! 1.5 blocks away from union station. take a right out of hotel and it right around the block! Comfy Beds, Roomy rooms!, excellent room service, large bathroom, modern look, amazing lobby!! Can't wait to go again! Also, Great price for rooms! Dislikes : NONE! i can't even think of one complain to give!!

A pleasant stay in DC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/09
The room was well furnished. The king size was very comfortable, and the bath room was very nice. There was a 1-cup coffee maker in the room, but no microwave. It was very close to where I was working, and Union Station. I was on the 10th floor, and had a view of a potion of the Capitol Dome. I will stay here on my next trip to DC.

Nice and Affordable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/20/09
The Washington Court Hotel is a comfortable place to stay, very close to the Capitol and museums on the National Mall. The rooms are large, and nicely appointed with comfortable beds. Easy walk to the Capitol, National Mall and Hill restaurants and shopping. For D.C. the price was very affordable. Conference space, while limited, was close and accessible. The staff was very accomodating. Catered food was truly excellent. I would definately stay again and recommend to others.

It ruined our whole trip!
By Chrissy, 01/02/09
Several things ruined our entire trip!!! We went home early it was so awful and took 2 days of sleeping to recover. 1. I have stayed in many hotels during the past few years, many of which were considered 4-Star hotels. I booked 2 nights at the hotel based on the 4-Star rating and competitive pricing. I made reservations for December 29th-30th, 2008. I mistakenly thought the reservations were for December 28th-29th, and showed up a night early with my 8 year old son at 7:00pm after driving 8½ hours. We were obviously very tired. The reservation mix-up was my fault. I requested the reservation be moved to the 28/29 and was told that was impossible. A 4-Star hotel should have no problem doing this type of thing, especially since the price for both dates was the same. I wound up paying for an extra night to save further exhaustion. After dealing with the non-English speaking bellman, we finally made it up to our room with our bags. 2. The floor had a large amount of wet, sticky stuff by the door. It stayed wet the whole time and we couldn’t walk near it without putting on shoes. I approached the maid about it. I promptly gave up when I realized she too could not understand English. 3. There was no room-service or food available when we arrived at the hotel and had to resort to take-out. The food wasn’t brought up to our room and I had to re-dress to walk downstairs to get it. Once again, after driving such a long way with an 8 year old, this was not convenient at all. 4. I needed internet access immediately due to the fact my cell phone didn’t get a signal in the hotel. Internet access should be free in a 4-Star hotel. There were no directions as to how I could pay for this service. I called the front desk and was told to call the company directly. This is what I call “passing the buck” - VERY unprofessional! 5. There wasn’t a hotel information book in the room (which ALL hotels should have). Since we were staying an extra day, we needed to wash some clothes. We wound up finding a dry cleaner to pick it up. What if there had been a fire? There were no “In Case of Emergency” directions posted in the room. I believe that is a violation of fire-code. 6. We left our hotel room at 8:00am each morning. We came back no earlier than 5:00pm. Our room had still not been serviced by the maid and was not convenient from that point on to be serviced. I’m sure an English-speaking maid could have helped us out with the conflict, but there wasn’t one available. 7. The bathroom was covered in mold. The lavatory, the bathtub, even the floor had mold and mildew on it. Taking a shower was a sickening experience. 8. After this harrowing experience, we decided to check out early. Around 6:00pm (December 30th), we came downstairs with all our baggage and checked out, drove 8½ hours and returned home at 3:00am. When we requested our car, it took 15 minutes to retrieve the car. And parking is $34 per night. I will NEVER stay in this hotel again, nor will I recommend it to anyone. Please don't stay here - there's several other nice hotels in the area. And PS, Union Station is more like 4 blocks away (uphill!)

Great location and comfortable hotel!
By Chris, 12/18/08
I have stayed in many hotels in DC and specifically on Capitol Hill and this hotel offers the best of location and a clean and comfortable hotel. Food is not bad in the restaurant as far as hotels go, but the bar goes off for happy hour and beyond!

The other reviewers were wrong! Its great!
By ghostmom, 07/07/08
We checked in on a monday with the extra cost of that night being that this is a business traveler hotel but beyond that I was very, very pleased with the cost and the service. It is 2 blocks to Union Station which gave us access to food, shops, tours, movies etc. Also a couple blocks in the other direction put us right at the Capitol bldg and the end of the National Mall with museums and all- I had no problem with homeless as the other reviewer mentioned, it was a pleasure to have the polite and neighborly doormen help us in every time and the desk was polite and helpful. There was some work going on with the hotel elevator but nothing to have a problem with. Our room was clean and our maid respected our wishes when we set out our privacy sign but took the time to leave a message in case we had done it by mistake. All in all-for cleanliness, staff and looks I was really happy and would stay again! I only have one other hotel I've ever felt that way about (the Pioneer in Zion) so thats something. By the way-there was a deli and a Starbucks right across the street also for morning convienience and a coffee/deli place around the corner too.

Service is terrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/03/08
We went here for the Right to Life march in January. Our bus got here at 9a.m. and the hotel let everyone go up to their rooms, except my mom and I. The lady at the desk said "No, not until 4." So we left and walked around for a few hours (even though we smelled like a bus). We were pooped by 3 so we came back and asked for our room. Another rude lady "It's not ready yet. Come back later. " We were too tried to keep walking so we sat in the lobby for an hour (there were about 30 other people waiting too). 4 came around and we asked for our room. "No, no, it's not ready yet. Come back later." GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! We finally did get our room and it was very nice. But the view was ugly and we could hear the girls in the room next to us talking all night. We won't be coming back.
