Beware!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/30/09
They totally overcharged me on my stay -- charging me twice for the same trip. It took me months to fix this problem -- and the only help I received was from the credit card company! I would not trust the people that manage this place.

perfect location and nice atmosphere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/08
I like the Adams Morgan area and the personal was open and friendly. The location was fantastic, metro and busses near. Private location walking distance to shows... Near Adams Morgan. No block out curtains.

Good Value for Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/07
Great value for money. Rooms were decorated in a nice, home-style fashion, and the guest-house itself is in a nice brick building. Breakfast was good (nothing out-of-the-ordinary) but good nonetheless. I felt safe in the neighborhood. The Woodley Park/Zoo subway stop was about 10 minutes walk away, which was convenient. Service was good, but don't expect 5-star hotel type service or treatment from the staff. I suppose that is to be expected given that it is not a 5-star hotel.

Hated it.
By Emily, 02/13/07
I will not stay here again and I will certainly not recommend it to anyone. Aside from the problems of the physical house, the staff was less than helpful. There was no one present upon check-in. I had to wait 20 minutes for someone to return and check me in. Upon checking in, I discovered that they were actually charging me more than I was initially quoted. Upon returning home, I've discovered that my card was actually charged twice! As for the room--it was poorly insulated, although they did provide a space heater for extra warmth there was nothing that could be done about the noise from the street. The mattress was comfortable enough but the pillow, just one, was completely flat. There were extra blankets provided but nothing in the way of pillows. Also, no towels were provided. I would instead suggest that visitors to the area stay at Jury's Normandy Inn, it's just a few blocks away, the price was the same, the staff bent over backwards to make the stay pleasing, the room was well equipped, many pillows, blankets, coffee and tea in room, an ironing board and iron and a full bathroom IN ROOM.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY BUT NOT FOR EVERYONE
By Carrol, 09/27/06
The kalorama Guest House is actually several houses under the same group operated out of 2700 Cathedral AV NW. We stayed at a house about 5 houses from the main guest house and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was QUIET. There are no televisions in rooms, phones, refrigerators, or microwaves - no cable TV, either. My husband went into ESPN withdrawal. There are microwaves, refrigerators, local tv, etc. available, but not in the rooms. We paid $130/night to have a private bath - that's right, some rooms come with bath down the hall - so ask! The staff was helpful, particularly, Maria. Location was fabulous, a short Metro ride to downtown DC. I loved the place!

Mold!!!! Beware, don't stay here.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/06
I booked the room over the phone after reading about it on line. I thought what an adventure a San Francisco style B and B. I had stayed at similar hotels in NY. Be aware once you book your room you are stuck. No refunds. I checked in and was informed I was not at the building that I had checked into NO BELL MAN so I had to drag my bags across the street and up 2 flights of stairs, they don’t tell you about the flight of stairs outside the building and unfortunately I had been traveling on business and had a bit of luggage. I had reserved a room with a shared bathroom down the hall again it was going to be an adventure. My room was an inside room with a small window that was painted shut. DC had just had a weak of heavy rain and the wall air conditioning reeked of mold. I returned to the front desk and was told the only other room was 4 flights up actually 5. I asked if any thing else would be coming available and was informed that the hotel did not permit guests to move change rooms. I unfortunately had booked the room for 4 nights. I was stuck again no refunds. The manager was no help. I ate the cost of 3 nights and found a room at the Jurys hotel on Dupont circle for $99.00. Great hotel!!! Bellman, air conditioning, wide screen flat TV, room service, great staff, a block from a subway entrance. I know I wanted an adventure but the smell of mold was unbearable and the hotels only response was that the guest before me did not seem to mind. Skip the Kalorama Guest and check out the Jury. You'll be glad you did.

An old friend returns
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/06
I have not stayed at your inn for over ten years, but some of my fondest memories of DC included staying at the Kalorama. The staff were great, the convenience was outstanding, and the inn itself was memorable. I stayed at your inn almost monthly for a few years in the mid-1990's and became like one of the family. I recommended your inn to others, and brought guests myself. Everyone was impressed with the experience. I can't wait to get back this October! Don Treinen

Brilliant place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/06
We were travelling so obviously on a budget. The Kalorama Guest House was perfect. It was very clean, they give you a warm welcome. after being away from home from a few months it felt like you were at the closest thing to home. The staff cant do enough for you and the rooms are lovely and comfortable. I would definately stay again.

Would Send People There Everytime
By Abe Froman, 09/26/05
Great value, location, and comfort. Few places like this REALLY exist in the city. I stay with a girlfriend and her mother. We had a great time and couldn't complain about a thing. Close to Woodley Park and Adams Morgan, but you are away from crowds.
