Channel Inn Hotel, Washington

Well, where do I begin. . . I had reserved the room, because they were the first place that told me they could accomodate myself along with my 5 senior girl scouts with two extra cots, the price seemed right and they had a pool. Well, when we arrived there, after 3 hours traveling from Pennsylvania, we were told there were no available cots. Ok, fine. Then we went sightseeing for a while, til late afternoon. The girls wanted to go back to the hotel to get dinner and go in the pool, well, after being told the wrong name of the Fitness Club where the pool was located, and searching for over an hour, we finally found it and it was locked up tight. I called the front desk at the hotel and they said,"Well who knew it would be closed on a Saturday night." Ok, fine.They were not only rude and condisending by I couldn't understand their English and don't appreciate getting lied to repeatedly. So my girls, were exhausted and since it was off the beaten path, we couldn't really go out and about, we made the best of it, and drew straws to sleep on the floor. I will never go back and would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

The hotel is old and outdated. It is only 2 blocks from the Metro, which is about the only positive about it. The rooms and decor reminded me of 60s Las Vegas, and the staff did not go the extra mile. When I asked for them to store my luggage until my room was ready, they told me to put it into a closet that was accessible to everyone. I did so thinking they would watch the closet. I came back later that evening with a new desk staff working, went to the closet and opened it and took my belongings and they did not say a word! I could have taken anyone's belongings and they would not have even noticed.

The location of the hotel was wonderful. The view of the water is the best. The price isn't bad either. There where other hotels aorund in the area but none could compare to the great price of this hotel. I don't know about anyone else but I will stay there again. The only problem I had was the resturant closing around 9, and no coffe maker but I lived.

Stayed there June 8th & 9th, 2007. Was supposed to stay there five nights but couldn't hardly wait to leave. Hole-in-the-Wall. Dark, dreary, dark colored walls, dark carpet, dark drapes, old building in desperate need of upgrading and remodeling, one of the two elevators was not operating, NO coffee maker, (even Motel 6 gives you a coffee maker), paint peeling, door beat up and scratched, rusty bathroom fixtures, no bathroom exhaust fan. Heavily promoted location turned out to be in the middle of nowhere. Beyond walking distance to National Mall and all monuments. Taxis cost an arm and a leg. Waterfront was smelly, Channel dirty, drunks yelled & hollered all night while partying on some of the boats docked below our balcony. Crime area after midnight. Recent murders next door at H2O Restaurant & Lounge. Will definately NOT stay there again. Very, very disappointed and unhappy with The Channel Inn. Dump.
