Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center, Rehoboth Beach

a great location, ocean view. have stayed several times over last 10 years. always had good service, clean rooms. am bufuddled by recent reviews complaining about lack of cleanliness. -- we've NEVER had that experience. and we've just made reservations for may of this year.

A large group of us stayed here recently, and while the overall experience was good, there are just some strange things in this place. We stay here every year, and I was last with the group in 2007. The same things persist. The rooms are half clean. Too much dust. One guy found medication on the floor, and it never was cleaned. In our room, the sink was cracked all over, the shower curtain rod was nearly wrenched out of the wall, every door jamb and molding needed paint, the front door moldings still bore all the signs of being kicked in, and many, many more things. The most alarming was that the sliding door to the deck couldn't be locked. I told two staff members and the first acted like she didn't understand why it would be a problem. Let a family stay in this (incredibly cramped) room with kids, and wait for the first one to fly off the deck. Also, we were on the first floor! Someone could have gotten in with little problem. We all ate at the restaurant, and while the staff was very nice, they literally took our plates away mid-bite. The food was decent, but not worth the price. Pack lunches were the same way. I give credit to the niceness of the staff and the great continental breakfast. The room had a big fridge (albeit very dented and scratched), a new Samsung plasma, and very nice furniture. With some minor renovation, this could be a 4-5 star place.

The staff members I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. The location is great. Other than that I have nothing positive to say. It was $300 a night for the filthiest hotel room I've ever stayed in. I will go somewhere else next time.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The bed were absolutely terrible! I've had back problems ever since sleeping in those beds. The pillows were half the size of what a standard pillow is. The blankets were basically a curtain. Not comfortable and slid off the bed every night. When I asked for another blanket at the front desk, none were delivered to our room. I also asked for regular sized pillows (which I knew they had because there was two outside on our chairs of our balcony). They never brought any of those either. We never had the right amount of towels/washcloths for the number of people we had in our room. I had to go ask for more every day at the front desk. The bed that we slept on had a piece of wood between it and when two people slept in it they rolled to the middle. Overall it was clean but the bathtub backed up as soon as you turned on the water. The only good things about this room was that it had great access to the beach.

Best - location, service, employees were friendly and very accommodating. Best way to book is a package deal - worth the money!

The one good thing I can say is that the housekeeping people are very nice & helpful; they keep the rooms clean, BUT...the place itself is a dump! The bathrooms, the sliding glass door, the air conditioning...OLD, DO NOT WORK properly. The biggest gripe is the attitude of the front desk employees, incl. somene that looked like a manager, were the UNFRIENDLIEST, RUDEST, MOST CONDESCENDING people I have ever met in a hotel environment. My family & I will NEVER go there again AND we will make sure no one we know stays here.

The room was smelly, the balcony sliding door does not lock (they use a plastic pipe on the bottom). The A/C broke on the 2nd night, they made promises to repair that same day but they didn't, they never did, they kept putting people in the other hotel rooms that were supplied by the same A/C unit, what a shame!! Will come back to Rehoboth every year but never to this hotel. Just stay somewhere else !!

I stayed at this hotel for over 30 years. As the staff became more rude, the hotel less clean, the management inefficient at best, the prices continued to go up! For the past three years, I've happily stayed across the street.

My parents and I decided to head to Rehobeth as a spur of the moment weekend getaway. We live in Newark and always enjoy having the beach practicaly at our finger tips. The hotel is nice. Perfect for a few days. It was one of the few places that had a vacant room as most hotels were sold out due to the unexpected gorgeous weather. We booked a suite as it was one of the only rooms remaining. It was nice. Very tastefully decorated and there was plenty of space. My parents loved the mattresses. The staff was very friendly and it was easy to strike up conversation with them. It was always nice to hear "Did you find anything?" when my father was heading to the beach with his metal detector. Everybody was nice, and not a creepy forced kind of nice, this was genuine. My one and only complaint is the lack of soundproofing. You can hear everything! I literaly could stand at the wall and join in on the conversation with the folks next door (not that I did). We are very easy going people and arent picky, so the sound issue wasnt something to ruin the getaway. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

What a filthy, dirty, unkept hotel. Aside from its location, there's absolutely nothing special about this hotel. They make you pay for your stay up front, probably because once people arrive they want to find a cleaner place to stay. We styed with our family for one week this summer, and the first thing we noticed was a horrible stench in the elevator. The room was not much cleaner as the bathroom was dirty and there was a foul odor in the bedroom. The suites are tiny. The staff was just o.k., but not top notch. This is a one star hotel at best. Find a cleaner, more classy place to stay.....I recommend The Plaza right next door.....
