YUCK
By Karen, 07/28/09
I stayed at this hotel for over 30 years. As the staff became more rude, the hotel less clean, the management inefficient at best, the prices continued to go up! For the past three years, I've happily stayed across the street.

Great Service, great location, and great getaway!
By JC, 05/03/09
My parents and I decided to head to Rehobeth as a spur of the moment weekend getaway. We live in Newark and always enjoy having the beach practicaly at our finger tips. The hotel is nice. Perfect for a few days. It was one of the few places that had a vacant room as most hotels were sold out due to the unexpected gorgeous weather. We booked a suite as it was one of the only rooms remaining. It was nice. Very tastefully decorated and there was plenty of space. My parents loved the mattresses. The staff was very friendly and it was easy to strike up conversation with them. It was always nice to hear "Did you find anything?" when my father was heading to the beach with his metal detector. Everybody was nice, and not a creepy forced kind of nice, this was genuine. My one and only complaint is the lack of soundproofing. You can hear everything! I literaly could stand at the wall and join in on the conversation with the folks next door (not that I did). We are very easy going people and arent picky, so the sound issue wasnt something to ruin the getaway. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Great location, horrible hotel
By BenjaminT, 08/16/08
What a filthy, dirty, unkept hotel. Aside from its location, there's absolutely nothing special about this hotel. They make you pay for your stay up front, probably because once people arrive they want to find a cleaner place to stay. We styed with our family for one week this summer, and the first thing we noticed was a horrible stench in the elevator. The room was not much cleaner as the bathroom was dirty and there was a foul odor in the bedroom. The suites are tiny. The staff was just o.k., but not top notch. This is a one star hotel at best. Find a cleaner, more classy place to stay.....I recommend The Plaza right next door.....

Overpriced Yet Nice!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/22/08
Poolside room nice yet overpriced. Customer service above average from Amy, Marika, front desk crew yet appeared shorthanded last week. GM should be embarassed! Convenient for families with children for easy access to pool, boardwalk and beach!

Nice location- Too expensive!
By CAJB, 05/29/08
We checked in for our honeymoon night (leaving for a real honeymoon in Mexico a week later) and got not so much as a "congrats". We didn't have reservations so we were charged $165 for a partial view room. Again, no special treatment or anything..sheesh!! The room was updated and very pretty and clean but the carpet was very wet like they left the door open. I couldn't open the sliding (ha!) glass doors..old and tracks needed cleaning. The personality-less staff was not that helpful with anything. The only soda machine was 1/2 a block away (yes for real). The pool was open on May 17th but freezing.I didn't see a hot tub but we have one at home so no biggie. No wi-fi in the entire place (isn't this 2008?? motel 6 has wi-fi!!) Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was divine (but still not worth the $165) and we got up at 5am to watch the sunrise on the beach- which was a priceless memory (ok maybe the $165 was worth that- but the hotel had nothing to do with that) In my opinion this hotel was worth every bit of $120 but not a dollar more. This place was romantic because of my husband and I, but don't expect to come and get romance, these people will not accomodate that- it must not be in their brochure. Although this hotel wasn't the best, it sure was better than the Henlopen a few blocks down the boards, they wanted $140 for a total dump that looked like it might be about to shut down- alley veiw. Another fancier hotel one block away, also on the boards wanted $210/night...So I guess for the selection this one might be the best bet. Atleast for the selection of places right on the boards.

Nice Hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/07
We stayed at the Atlantic Sands Hotel for one night and liked it very much. The price was reasonable, the location is great (right on the Boardwalk), the room was clean and looked more like a home than a hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ocean view from our room was great and we slept listening to the ocean. I would definitely stay there again. However, my only two dislikes were the mattress and the difficulty in finding our room based on the signs. The interior signs were not good and we had to wander a bit and then ask a hotel employee to find our room. My friend had no trouble with the mattress but if someone is prone to having trouble sleeping on something too soft, there will be a problem. I took the pillows off the second bed and propped them under me to get more comfortable. If the hotel would change the mattress to a new mattress a bit firmer, it would be perfect. All in all, we found this to be a nice hotel and would definitely recommend it to others.

Disappointed...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/07
When you look at the website, the hotel appears worth the price, however, the website is very misrepresentative. The room descriptions are not accurate and are misleading, as well. In reality, the rooms are small and dirty. The corner king with "french balconies" is a joke - you get two sets of sliding glass doors with a small space to stand and look at the ocean or boardwalk. The shower did not maintain a steady temperature and went from scalding to ice cold and bsack to scalding, again. The Tiki Bar closes at 9pm (and this was over labor day weekend) - so much for sitting and enjoying the ocean breeze with a glass of wine. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Overall, it is overpriced and not kept up very well.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/06
The employees seemed to be very unhappy as it reflected in there interaction with us. They did not appear to be very well trained. Very dissapointed and unlikely to return. Cleaniness fair at best. For the room cost we expected better. Resturant was OK but found better quality and value down town.

Great location and good service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/06
I've stayed here twice and both times was completely satisfied by the hotel, the staff, and above all the excellent location right on the boardwalk. The rooms were clean and quiet. The ocean views are a treat. One surprise this time was the restaurant, which we had not tried before. We had a great meal and they gave us a discount as well. Some reviews mention that you have to leave when you check out. That's true, so if you plan to stay on, you need to consider your options. I would certainly return again, and probably will next year.
