Never again!
By Big B, 3/22/10
The floors with King size beds, have sliding glass doors that resound when slid into open or closed position, so if you are sleeping when an adjoining room has someone taking a shower, you're awoken. Found the food to be below fast food quality, but premium price. Emergency vehicle sirens wake you up at all hours of the night. Quality of picture of TV is poor at best. Had to wait 5 hours to check in. No fridge or microwave in rooms. We were in a conference room while their maintenace worker was pounding nails. The sandwiches in the bar seems more like mystery meat.

Its really a matter principle
By private, 8/12/08
We stayed two nights at this hotel and found the rooms to be clean and tidy . The service had improved though there was still the noise of construction to contend with in the lobby. Our main complaint is that we where charged for our buffet style breakfast! It wasent even on par with buffet prices. We served ourselves some fruit, two yogurts, 2 coffees(very poor),and one small milk and where charged 16 DOLLARS! You have got to be kidding me! Why would a hotel that is trying to present itself as an upscale establishment try to fleece its guest with a breakfast that is free at almost every other hotel that I have been to. I find it insulting to be exspected to pay for mediocre food in an exspensive hotel simply because they think I am gullible.

Never again
By Kendra, 7/21/08
I don't know where to begin. I have never experienced such terrible customer service in my life. Since I am a customer service representative and treat each one of my customers as if it was me in need of the service that they are contacting me for, I always like to commend a job well done or critique services that are poorly given. I'm especially upset because this should have been a time of no worries and joyful bliss. One of my good friends had her wedding reception at the Holiday Inn Express in Stamford, CT. It should have been one of the happiest moments in her life but unfortunately she had to compromise some of her happiness for the lack of customer service and common sense on the part of the hotel. First, the hotel is under renovation which she did know in advance but what she didn't know is that the construction workers would be sawing and hammering when her guest arrived for the cocktail hour. I also don't believe that she knew that the hotel guest would have to walk through her cocktail hour and wedding guest to get to their rooms. The person who appeared to be in charge (Trish) had such a terrible attitude. Someone needs to send her back to Customer Service 101. I could go on for days. The back-drop fell on the wedding party. It was time for the toast but no one had any champagne. It was just ridiculous. Maybe they should stay in the hotel businesss and leave the catering business to the professionals. However, I do have one positive thing to say to the chef. The food was excellent. I commend him on a job well done. All I have to say is if you're looking for a place that the service is terrible but the food is great I suggest the Holiday Inn Express in Stamford, CT. If not don't even look in their direction. The quality of service was so disappointing and you could see the hurt on the bride's face during the entire reception. Hopefully they will consider giving her some of her money back for the sloppy service that she received.

crowd control
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/29/08
Finding the hotel was a challenge due to the construction mess. Some temporary signs would have made it easier for travelers unfamiliar with the city. I was impressed with the newly appointed rooms although got almost no sleep the second night due to a large and noisy wedding party on our floor that were drinking and carrying on in the hallway. I called the front desk at 12:30 to have security ask them to keep it down. No one arrived by 1:00. I called again from 1:00 until 1:30 and got no answer from the front desk. By then the voices I heard were starting to get ugly and I was sick of waiting for someone to answer the phone. I got dressed and on my way downstairs found the security person in the hallway and asked him to do his job and get these people back in their rooms. Whatever he said to them was completely ineffective as the party continued until 3 am. I think the staff could benefit from some instruction in crowd control by local law enforcement. I realize a group of that size brings in a lot of money and you want to be open to them but not at the expense of other guests.

AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/08
This is the worst deal you can ever get. In this hotel NOTHING WORKS. There is NO WATER FOR MANY HOURS EVERYDAY, NO HOT WATER EVER, TV doesnt work, AC might or might not work.....the list goes on. If you complain, they'll hand you a 50% off coupon for their restaurant, which is a ripoff even after the discount. And then there is the ongoing construction. You can hear the jackhammers in your head weeks after you've checked out. Finally when you go to the desk to pay for your $300 nightmare, they even charge you for the coffee in the lobby. Go to the Sheraton, or the Marriott down the street, or even the Doubletree.

I would come back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/07
The service was great..rooms big..bathroom a decent size. I did not try the Inn food, because there are such great restaurants in the area! Close to shopping center and food! Parking lot was big, and receptionists asked if I needed help with me bags which was nice! Only complaint would be that getting off the main highway it was hard to make a U-turn to holiday Inn, therefore we had to pass is and take a long way around. But aside from that, good location! good service! good people! CLEAN!

Slightly shabby, good location
By Timothy, 10/23/07
Looks to have been built in the early 70's, thus, not high on the style scale. I was upgraded to top floor end-of-hall corner room, with lounge privileges( light breakfast and early-evening drinks/snacks ) which increased my satisfaction level. Room large enough; bathroom good size and in good condition. Parking in Stamford can be $$, so the charges for my hotel parking were not exhorbitant. Carmen at the front desk was friendly and accomodating. Lobby bar nothing to speak of. Weekend rate I got was $109, but weekday rates, booked more than two weeks in advance, were $229! Convenient to Stamford Town Center, where new restaurants California Pizza Kitchen, P F Chang's, Kona Grill and more have really improved that mall's services and atmosphere.

Good experience, GREAT LOCATION
Pro's: We visited Stamford for a family reunion, and the place has a great location. The price is good if you compared it to the near hotels (Marriott and Sheraton). The breakfast buffets were great, and they have a small cafe in the lobby if you are in a hurry. The daily newspaper is delivered right to your door. Con's: No bell service during the night, we have to park the rented car in the parking and to carry all the luggage up to the room. The front desk employees are not that nice. We are from PR and speak spanish. The employee at the front desk was latin, but not allowed to speak spanish in the job. Unbealivable!!!
