Incredible value, nice innkeepers

I really have to thank Peter and his wife, the innkeepers here. I left my cell phone behind as I boarded the shuttle to airport. I was desparate. I called back to the Western Lodge where I stayed and he immediately drove it out to the airport where I grabbed it and rushed off to my plane. You don't get that kind of service most places. I tried to tip him and he wouldn't take it. So: my experience for three nights was very positive. I thought the room was fine, and the price was great.

If you feel like sleeping in a disgusting place that will smell and deal with an owner who will everything in his power to rip you off then this is the place for you. After being forced to stay in a smoking room after booking a non-smoking room and took one look at the room, I immediately asked for a refund. He changed the agreement, yet still tried to keep my full payment. After speaking with the local police, this apparently is not the first time it's happened either, happens frequently the police officer said. Moral of the story...DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!!!!

spend a few $ more for nicer place up the street

For the price I expected the place to be dated and it was but the bummer was the room smelled really bad! Really put a damper on a good night sleep. The bed looked freshly made but when we pulled the sheets back We found hair in the bed. Nice location in the downtown area but would next time spend a few dollars more to stay somewhere else even if outside of down town area.

Best kept secret!!

We were nervous because the price was $40 less per night than any other place in Steamboat and we were arriving VERY late. Fortunately, I called ahead and found out the office closes at 11:00 p.m. - no night clerk. But the owner said he would stick our key in an envelope and tape it on the office window. Perfect, very accomodating. Then we found the room absolutely spotless. We had a fridge and microwave, a nice kitchen countertop with kitchen sink. Very comfortable. There was a new shower curtain just put up. Can't say enough about what a great find this place was. Best location in town. Walking distance to EVERYTHING!

Sweet spot

The motel is located close to the river, a nice bikepath, and many restaurants and shopping. The free Steamboat bus runs right out front, so what could be easier?

Peter and Kathi are the owners and on the premises almost all the time. They are very attentive and super helpful. I left a pair of new boots at the motel by accident when I checked out, and Kathi was very helpful in sending them to my home right away. Try that with some big corporate-owned motel!
