Bad Experience

My wife and I stayed at the River Mountain Lodge in January of 2007. Overall, the cleaniness and service of the hotel was less than satisfactory.
After checking into the hotel, my wife and I went to our room where we unloaded our luggage. A short time later, we dropped down the queen-sized bed from the wall and were appalled by what we saw. There in the center of the bedspread was obvious dried semen stains. After talking to the front desk, we were given a different room. The following day when I used the restroom, I lifted up the toilet seat only to find dried yellow urine all around the rim of the toilet. This was after the lady at the front desk stated they had gone to the room to ensure the room was clean prior to giving us the key.
The level of service provided by the staff at the front desk was no better than the problems we encountered in the rooms. When we returned to the front desk, after informing them of the semen on the bedspread, at no time did the lady at the front desk offer any type of apology. Instead, she informed us they were short on rooms and all they could provide us was a room with a bunk bed. This would have been fine except when we arrived at the room my wife and I quickly realized we would be sleeping on a double mattress unless we wanted to sleep on the pull-out bed in the couch. At this point we looked for a comment card in the room to leave our feedback. There was none. When we checked out, the young man at the front desk apologized and also stated they did not have any comment cards to fill out although we could write our comments on a piece of paper if we like.
This is not to say everyone at the front desk was not friendly and helpful. There was one gentleman on Saturday night who helped us out. That night the parking garage was full and when we asked him where there was additional parking, he allowed us to park in the employee parking lot. We appreciated this and only wished the rest of our stay had been as good.
We did write a letter to the hotel and received a phone call back. They offered us a discount if we choose to stay with them in the future. Even though I stated we were not interested, the manager stated he would email us the information in the event we changed our minds. No email was ever received.
