Crappy Hotel Denver

I hated this place because the view was not great and the service guy didn't recamed anything good.

Loved the Hotel Denver!
By jtfromtc, 05/04/09
The hotel itself is worth a recommendation, but the friendly, cheerful, helpful staff really made our stay outstanding. They were always pleasant and helpful, made good recommendations regarding restaurants and places to go and things to do. They went beyond what could be expected, and we really appreciated it! The hotel is very interesting, with modern updates adding to historic charm. Our room, larger than a standard room, was spacious and comfortable, definitely worth the few extra dollars. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were new and nice. The bathroom was roomy, clean and had lots of counter space. There were bright cheery quilts on the bed and sofa. We loved the views of mountains and river! And even though the hotel is right in town, across from the train station, it was quiet. The in-house restaurant had really good food and drinks, and the staff there was very friendly and efficient. We appreciated the lobby internet availablity and, if we had been able to stay longer, would have used the laundry facilities. We look forward to going back and exploring more of the area - and staying at the Hotel Denver!

Disgusting, don't stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/03/08
This had to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. When we booked, I made sure to get a suite. Well....the old beds and musty furniture was awful. To top it off we were supposedly on a non-smoking floor...yeah right. There was smoke pouring out of the room down the hall. I called to complain (we have an infant) and they came up and said nobody was smoking. Right. Then I saw the smoking guy down at the lobby later and I guess he either worked there or was friends with the front desk people which explains why they didn't care that he was smoking. THEN...our room was right across the street from a bar. Lovely. We were up all night with the bar noise across the street and motorcycle guys coming and going. We couldn't book out of there fast enough the next morning. Thankfully we found another hotel that was 100% cleaner and smoke free and noise free. Do not even waste your money staying at this dump. Oh and I forgot, the morning we checked out we were privledged to witness a dog fight in the lobby. NICE.

This is one tired hotel...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/07
While The Hotel Denver may be one of the best places to stay in Glenwood Springs, this isn't saying much in this past it peak town. This is a typical hotel in an highly touristed town that no longer needs to work for business. As soon as you step into the lobby you know what you are in for. Everything about this hotel is tired. While customer service was pleasant it took a half hour to get checked in. Our room was indeed clean and had antiques as advertised. However, the carpet, paint, industrial tiled ceilings were depressing. I did hear that room quality within the hotel is variable. The central location was excellent, but honestly I don't think was worth the disappointment.

An enjoyable experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/07
Both my stays at Hotel Denver have been enjoyable experiences. The rooms in the original building are really charming and furnished with antiques. Management has done a good job in incorporating the same feel in the newer section (situated over the brewpub.) The location is really ideal, especially since I have traveled there both times on Amtrak. My highest recommendation.

Short stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/06/07
Booked online through the Hotel Denver website. Choose the "colorado room" from the pics and discription of the view. Was very disapointed. Instead of the personal room with antiques and nice bed I got a run down room with extension cords all over, a horrible paint job, and an old metal-framed bed that squeaked loudly. The tv was way across the room. The floor was made of uneven hard wood floor, not the plush carpet from the online pictures. Only nice thing was they let us "uncheck in" and did not charge us. We found a bigger room with better facilities for 35 dollars less at the Hampton Inn. Oh yeah the train tracks are across the street.

Will return again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/22/07
Across the street from the AMTRAC and across the bridge from the hot springs. Half a block from two nice restraunts along the river. Two blocks from the main street that crosses the river. Great town easy ride from Denver or Boulder. You can take the train from Denver and walk across the street and walk in. Then you won't need a car as you can walk around.

Unique experience
By Kari, 03/14/07
The staff was friendly & helpful. The decor in the rooms was very charming. Room was unique with quilts & antiques. Very clean. Great dining in the Brewpub on site. Right downtown, close to shops & restaurants. Just over the bridge from Hot Springs Pool. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!
