Motel room and bar next to it and restaurant
The bar tender nags and complains, i think her name is Mary - from the moment we walked in to the time we left and we left early cause the place was not kept up, the ceiling is falling down on you, they actually have posters to hold the wall up, give me a break and the restaurant was not open either.

An Ok Place To Stay
By ,
We chose the Villa Inn as it seemed reasonably priced for the area and close to our destination of San Francisco. It is conveniently right next to the freeway yet freeway noise wasn't an issue. It was remarkably quiet for as close as it was to the freeway. The room was ok and a little bit larger than the usual place we stay but lacked some amenities normally found like a coffee machine and phone book. I noticed later on that coffee machines were available on request. We were surprised not to find a remote control for the television. Calling the front desk, we were told there should be one in the room, then we got disconnected or something. We never heard back from the front desk so the wife went down a couple hours later and was given a remote. Wifi internet connection works fine, although it's unsecured. The microwave and refrigerator worked well and was appreciated. One thing I couldn't get over was the condition of part of the room's walls and ceiling. Wallpaper was peeling off and the roof and wall near the wardrobe was stained from water damage and seemed to have been like that for a while. Made me feel like the whole room was dirty even though everything else seemed quite clean. I noticed later while walking past other rooms that ours seemed to be the only room with the water damage, though. They have their continental breakfast in an old, closed restaurant attached to the hotel. Nice, but nothing spectacular. Offerings include boxed cereal, muffins, pastries, bananas, coffee and juice. I was glad we'd brought some of our own stuff to eat as those offering don't appeal to me. From what we could see of the surroundings, the continental breakfast was the only choice for breakfast without driving somewhere. They need to remove the window signs on that restaurant as they still say the place serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pool and spa have been shut down for years and it shows. They really should either remove or repair them as they make the place look run down. It was nice that checkout time was noon, as opposed to the earlier times at other places. As it was, we left early as we had an appointment in San Francisco. Will we be back? Not particularly looking forward to it but we don't particularly look forward to going to San Francisco. either. It was comfortable enough and I wouldn't certainly won't object to another stay.

WoW! Great hotel in the town!
By ,
Frist I want to start off by saying that stay at this hotel was the one the best hotels that I've ever stay in. The rooms are so wonderful, as soon as you come in its just feel so cozy! The bathroom is just amazing! The rooms comes with everything you need to get started! The nights are so peaceful and quite. In the morning there a great view of the mountains. The costumer service that they provide is just wonderful. There for you anytime of day or night with just great smile and great attutudes! There a young latino with blue-green eyes that works that night just so cute! Is very helpful person ! Come and enjoys the quite nights and gotta see for yourself!

Best Kept Secret In the Bay Area
By ,
We have just returned from a week in the Bay area. The Villa Inn is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. Conveniently located to San Francisco, Napa Valley and Sausalito makes the Villa Inn a fantastic home base. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are immaculate. The Villa Inn has a fabulous complimentary continental breakfast and free wireless internet...which you don't even get at a five star hotel. The Villa Inn is a great value and truly one of the best kept secrets in the area.

Always use this hotel when I visit
By ,
The rooms are always clean and quiet. The free breakfast is nice though a bit routine. They always have a room even when I arrive without a reservation. I stay there 2 to 3 times a year.

Good value
By ,
I stayed one night before a local trail race and was pleasantly surprised. It's an older place, but very clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and I slept very soundly. I would not hesitate to book again.

Been staying here for 11 years...
By ,
Small family owned hotel, that has been my lodging choice in California for the past 11 years. Perfectly situated between San Francisco and Napa Valley, the Villa Inn is located in the wonderful little town of San Rafael (which has some of the best restaurants around). The owners of the Villa Inn treat all their guests as family, and have been extremely accomodating to me for every need. The rooms are both clean and reasonably priced There is a nice continental breakfast, which features coffee, tea, pancakes, cereals etc... In addition to my own positive experiences, I have recommended this establishment to a number of friends. They too, have been very happy with their stays. Highly recommended!!!

Rude!
By ,
I had a reservation for a king room at this inn for my son's soccer tournament. When I made the reservation I was not told the pool was out-of-order. I found this out through another family that was planning to stay there until they found this out. When I called to cancel my reservaton, the man was rude and spiteful. He asked why I had made a reservation if I didn't want the room. When I told him I had made the reservation under the impression they had a pool, I was told "That's fine, we really didn't want you here anyway." I had called just the day before to confirm my reservation and wasn't told about the pool then either. If their pool was out-of-service they should have informed me when I made the reservation, and should not have had a problem with me cancelling when I found out. Gave ratings an 'average' because we never even got to stay there.

My Second Home
By ,
The Villa Inn is quiet, clean, and comfortable. The management is very accomodating, and check-in and check-out are painless. It was recommended by a friend from the area who travels a great deal on business, and who has recommended it to many other of his friends who travel a great deal on business. Those friends have chosen to stay there time and time again, as have I. The Villa Inn is probably better described as a family-friendly motel than as a hotel. It's a small, homey place, with a swimming pool and good Continental breakfasts. I would suggest it to people seeking a quiet, private vacation with a sweetie, but not as a place to "meet someone new." I recommend it strongly to anyone who wants a well-priced, quiet, comfortable stay in the area.
