3 Night Stay Easter Weekend 2010
We visited Palm Desert, CA., to attend a wedding being held at a home next to nearby Hwy 74, and after doing market research of surrounding hotels, we found the Best Western on Hwy 111 to be the best deal. We looked at cheaper hotels in surrounding towns, but after reading the comments about gang activity we opted to pay a little extra money and stay at the Best Western, and it was money well spent. We had no trouble with gangs, or graffiti, or riff raff hanging around in the shadows. Parking was tight. Each night we stayed there we were the last ones to get back to the hotel, so we had to park way in the back lot away from our hotel door, but we felt safe leaving the car there. In fact, as far as safety goes, we really felt completely safe there. The pool was cleaned daily and even though the motel was dated a bit, the architecture around the pool was beautiful. What struck me most was the attention to the grounds keeping. All the planter beds were extremely well kept, raked, and weed free, and the lawn was impeccably mowed. The place looked clean, and smelled clean. I'm a real big fan of food, so when I saw the breakfast area in the morning I was very impressed. There were two guys behind a counter who would cook eggs and pancakes and bacon for you for free. It got kind of crowded in the dining room as people were jostling to get their orange juice and cereal, milk, coffee, and silverware and wait in line for the cooks to cook their eggs, but I would totally recommend the breakfast. The cooks weren't French chefs, but they consistently cooked my eggs the way I liked them for 4 straight mornings. Sure, there were picky people who when they got up to announce their order, they would try to order omlettes and go on and on, but if they read the menu they would see, THEY DON’T COOK Omlettes. The line got pretty long, so when someone got up there and started being picky you’re like, come on, pay attention to the menu and order from the menu. The rooms were clean, but make sure you stay on the 3rd floor if you can. If you're on the 1st or 2nd floor, then you're subject to hearing someone with blocks on their feet above you. All in all, we had very good experience at this hotel.
