Beautiful hotel but dishonest service!
By Chris, 10/23/09
The hotel was wonderful and I would stay again. However, be sure to double check your credit card bills at the bar. We we told there was pool side service for drinks and food at lunchtime. After waiting for 30 minutes and not seeing a server, I went to the bar to inquire. The bartender completely ignored me while he was attending to his 2 regular customers. Long story short, the food never came to us, it just sat at the bar getting cold. He was extremely rude and snapped at me to sign for the bill. I chose to not write in a tip, something I've never done before, but I didn't feel he deserved one. Later, the following day during check out, I noticed our charges and saw that the bartender wrote in a $5 tip for himself. I immediately brought this to the attention of the front desk and manager and they apologized and credited me the $5. I was taken aback, "that's it, and here's your $5." I hope more was done on the inside than just that. So for your own good, double check all of the charges during checkout to make sure they match.

Missing the sea so near the sea
By HannahS, 03/11/09
It may look like the sea but it is a rather dirty waterway. One restaurant offering mediocre and pretentious food at very high prices.

IF YOU HAVE ASTHMA DON'T GO HERE!
By , 09/01/08
The "smoke-free" hotel is absolutely a smoke-filled hot spot! With fire pits around the property, all the surrounding air smells of strong smoke. What's more, the people in the unit below us lit their fire pit, leaving our room full of smoke. We would never have brought our asthmatic child had we known this in advance.

Think Twice Before Picking This Hotel
By sam, 08/16/08
First, this hotel is not near the ocean as the pictures denote rather it is near a small waterway. Second, this hotel offers no washing machines for guests. The cost to wash a t-shirt is $6.95. Which is a little pricey if you have more than one t-shirt to wash. Third, I am currently staying at the hotel and there have been hotel worker protests all day long 8/16/08. There are around 25 of them and they are beating the drums, have loud speakers and are protesting union pay/contracts with the hotel. I didn't have this in mind for a vacation. As a Hilton Diamond VIP, I will never stay here again and may not stay at Hiltons going forward...

What a joke.
By Robyn, 08/15/08
I would never recommend this hotel. They advertise being family oriented but they are far from it. In fact, at their suggestion, my children could have gotten seriously hurt if I listened to them. An arrogant man at the front desk suggested I send my four year old and seven year old in a pool unsupervised because my one year old has to be segregated from the regular pool. Apparently, they don't tell you when you reserve the hotel, or when you check in that some kids are not allowed in the regular pool. You have to find out once your kids are in their swimsuits and ready to swim together as a family. So if you're travelling with children who are both under three and over three, forget this place. You can't be with both kids at one time. But their suggestion of sending my four year old in the big pool while I'm off at the other baby pool...Are you kidding? They'll get sued if anything happens to someone they recommend that to. They did nothing at all to appease me and we're gold HHonors members and stay at hiltons all over the world. They were rude, arrogant and smug. Furthermore, the hallways of our building were dingy and dark. Our balcony was filthy. The rooms are terrible for children as there are cords everywhere! The corners of our room were obviously skipped by the vacuum. We requested a crib with our reservation, reminded them at check in and still had to call down three times before we received it three hours later. That's quite a situation when a baby wants to nap after a long flight and can't. The breakfast coupon covers half of the cost of the buffet. The poolside kids meals are $14.00!! Check-in took a half hour. We had seven days booked at this hotel. We checked out after the first night, and we only stayed that first night because it took so long for our baby to get a crib, that she finally was able to sleep. Please don't waste your money, unless you like to be insulted by staff.

Great place you have!
By Jen, 08/14/07
Your restaurant was awesome! Food was fabulous and service was nearly flawless! The grounds were extremely clean and family friendly for the most part. Our room was extremely inviting, comfortable and clean. It was a joy to arrive home each day from our endeavors. If I had any complaints it would be the price of your breakfast buffet. We also didn't get the room that we had originally booked but I don't believe we were charged as such either...just minor disappointments compared to other places we've been. Our trip was a joy and you helped us enjoy it all the more. Thank you!

Would definately stay there again
By Sarah, 07/29/07
Great location on the mission bay beachfront. Rooms were spacious and well appointed and decorated. Decent mattress, not bad, not fantastic. Wasn't thrilled I had to pay $20 per day for parking and $12 per day for in room high speed internet. Lovely hotel, great pool, great childrens' pool, koi pond and ducks to entertain little ones. Very kid friendly hotel. Our room overlooked the interstate, but room was very well insulated and totally quiet.

Ho Hum for frequent Hilton traveller
By LisaS, 06/23/07
This was our second trip to this property - previous visit in July 2001. This time, we spent three days at this place & had a "so-so" experience. Started off on a bad note when no upgrades were available (for a weeknight stay). We are Hilton Honors "gold" members - 10 plus years of membership & various other successful rewards trips under our belts. Our room was on the end of the hotel where construction on the spa was underway. Parking was challenging - had to park near the middle of the resort & walk (they did refund our $20 per day parking fee!). Second floor room overlooked the bay - nice. However, the planter box was filled not with flowers, but with cigarette & cigar butts. Pool area was nice, but no food or drink service available in mid-June? Breakfast coupons for $12.50 worth of breakfast covered the food, but no drinks at breakfast time. Dining staff was very helpful with directions & tourism ideas. Overall, not a "luxury" resort in its current state. Needs landscaping in many areas. If they finish their work & do a better job of taking care of their frequent travelers, I would consider staying again. Location is convenient to many areas of San Diego.

Beautiful and Relaxing
By cherylk, 06/21/07
This ia a lovely hotel. The rooms are very comfortable. We stayed in a first floor garden room which had its own patio. Very relaxing and enjoyable. The room service was a bit pricey, but good food. One negative is parking costs.

Not so Great!
By vanessa, 05/23/07
Well for the price it certainly did not meet my expectations of a "luxury resort". Upon arrival I had to track down a bellboy to help us with our luggage. Once taken to our room there were no elevators to go up to the second floor. Having a baby and a stroller this was not very accomodating. Our view was a "garden view" which turned out to be a dirt hole and mostly dead grass. The room was tight but nice. The pool was ok and it does have a little toddlers pool that I liked. I didn't like that you could not order drinks or food at the pool. You had to sit at one the restaurants to eat, even if you were lounging at the pool all day. We did take a bike ride alongside the massive park that is right next to the resort. That was probably the highlight of the our stay with that hotel. I would never go back, the website is very misleading!
