Won't Go Again
By Stevie, 6/28/10
I liked how they had 2 diffrent beaches close by (walking distance). The service was very polite & helpful with directions to tourist sites. The grounds were also very well kept & pretty. But the rooms didn't feel very clean. They smelled like wet dog & the sheets were stained. It was okay for the one night, but I won't go back.

Great Place for Privacy and Peace of Mind
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/09
I am a Bay Area native and I stumbled across this place on accident. The owner was very respectful and polite, and I found the room to be in very good shape. The price was very reasonable, considering most hotels in the area were more and offered less amenities. Breakfast and coffee were free, a plus in my book, and the private beach gave me the perfect hideout away from everyday stress and work. My wife and I didn't expect to be spoiled or pampered, but found the rest and tranquility to be ten times worth a room somewhere else. I plan to return in the upcoming months!

We will not return to Pine Beach Inn
By driving legal, 10/24/08
Having stayed here twice before a year ago, and the year before that, we were surprised at how run down it seemed this time when we checked in. Negative: the mattresses on the two double beds were atrocious, we will not return. There were paint chips on the bedspread, dropping from the ceiling? Funky. Positive: I do like the private cove; it is delightful. The fog coming in off the ocean is magical when sitting on their beach. The motel is quiet even being on Highway 1. The Thai Restaurant on the property was recommended to us by locals, but we chose to eat with friends in Fort Bragg, nearby. And as someone mentioned, bring your own radio, really good music in the area! TV in room worked fine.

Not a Good First Impression
By heidi, 2/19/08
We arrived for a stay over the President's Day weekend and it really is run down! Looks nothing like the pictures at all. There were about 5 couples checking in, and we all had the same horrified looks on our faces. "Continental Breakfast" was a table in the lobby, dirty, with a dirty toaster. We ate elsewhere. The "ocean view" room we got overlooked lots of dead trees. You had to go out on the balcony and lean WAY over to see any water. On the plus side, the bed was comfy and it was very quiet at night.

Completely unprofessional
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/07
When we checked in last Wed. I tripped on an unlit path and split my lip on the pavement and had a concussion. When my husband stopped in the office to ask directions to the emergency room we were not offered one ounce of compensation. When I stopped in to show my black eye and stitches I was not even told "We're sorry." Clearly, they will be hearing more from me.

Great private beach!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/19/07
We had read a few negative older reviews, so we were a litte hesitant. However, we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Motel was not fancy, but rooms were spacious and clean. Beds have wonderful new mattresses. The new owner has been working hard to make the motel more attractive. Best of all is the access to the private beach...which can be seen from some of the motel rooms. The beach was beautiful...a great place for families. The price of the rooms was so reasonable. Later, we checked out other places in Ft.Bragg...and we were so glad that we had chosen Pine Beach Inn.

Great Family Hotel
By Cristina, 9/24/06
We stayed in an ocean view suite that was very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen/family room area of the suite was great especially because we had kids with us. The ocean view from the room was pretty but small. The hotel's private beach is beautiful! The continental breakfast each morning was lacking in variety and taste and the room had no internet connection. We would definitely stay here again especially if we had kids with us.

Secluded resort - get away from it all!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/04
I found the Pine Beach Inn on one of my trips to Mendocino. The Pine Beach is actually about 5 miles north of Mendocino on US 1. It was less expensive than the B&Bs and pleasantly unassuming. I had a room in the back near the private beach and was sheltered from any road noise. It was the best night's sleep I have had in a motel and the family enjoyed exploring the private cove just a short walk from our room. A defintite must stay if in the area!!

What a find!
By Maria, 7/22/04
I came across this inn while searching the internet for a place to get away to during the first week of summer vacation for my family (kids are 9,6,3,and 1). The minimal information from the website did not deter me from checking the place out. It was the words "private beach" and "children's playground" that did me in. Having tennis courts was also a plus, so off we went with our beach stuff and tennis rackets. When we got there, it wasn't exactly what I had expected but, boy, did we make the best of it! The suite we had was a one bedroom suite with 2 twin beds in the outer room where the little kitchenette was. The other room had a queen where the bathroom was. A little dated with the furnishings but the room was clean and pleasant enough. The playground was actually 2 little plastic play structures (the kind you can purchase at Toys R Us for a few hundred bucks) but my kids loved it! The grounds of the inn were well taken cared of and very spacious. We were even able to play some baseball, it was so big. We did try out the tennis courts and they do have rackets for rent. The best part for us was definitely the private beach. We were the only ones there when we went. The kids had a blast! The whole place definitely needed some touch ups but for the price and range of activities it afforded us, it was a definite FIND!
