Great value for a family
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/09
We usually stay at this hotel when we visit San Luis Obispo, which we try to do every year. It had been three years since our last visit, but we were happy that the staff maintained the same level of great service and cleanliness at the hotel. We went with our two kids and the two things that make this hotel a great value for us is the free breakfast and the indoor swimming pool. The breakfast is good, food is always warm, the utensils clean, and the kids like getting to eat their favorite foods every morning. The indoor pool is great because no matter what the weather is like outside, you can always go for a swim and wear the kids out swimming. The rooms were clean. I notice that the poor ratings submitted by other users had to do with the reservation system, not this hotel in particular. You can't blame this hotel for something it doesn't have control over, like their national reservation system. My husband and I enjoyed the manager's reception each evening, with the free drinks and popcorn. The bartender made an excellent margarita!!! Definitely looking forward to another one of those next year!

You can and may well be bumped by HiltonHonors members...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/07
It turns out that in the Hilton system a confirmed reservation isn't, even during a convention. I learned that HiltonHonors members at the Diamond level have "guaranteed reservations," which means that they can (and do) displace existing reservations. I had booked a room for a three-day convention held at the hotel in July '07 and confirmed it with the manager by phone two days before arriving. When we arrived we were told they did not have a room available and we would be put up for the night at another hotel several miles away. This was very troubling as there apparently were other people able to check in including non-convention attendees. This strikes me as very odd considering this was a convention for a specific group, and some non-convention guests were aghast at the usual convention jollity late into the night. The facility itself is excellent and the staff eager to accomodate, but after the cost and travel time for a convention disappointment I do not plan on returning to this location. My recommendation, if you choose this hotel, would be to insist on personal assurances from the manager that your reservation will be honored. If that is unsuccessful I recommend looking into one of the many other fine hotels in the area.

Excellent Service!
By Denise, 03/01/07
The staff always go out of their way to exceed your expectations. The breakfast is wonderful! It can be a busy place... lots of youth and adult sports teams stay there.

POOR RESERVATIONIST
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/06
I just tried to make a reservation with this hotel and had a real ding bat on the other end. I wanted some questions answered about the hotel. She said I would have to call the front desk for those questions. I said will you transfer me. No, she said, you will have to call back. This hotel does not need my business. What stupidity.

Best in town!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/02/05
After having stayed in other hotels in town, I am going back to the Embassy. I had a beautiful, clean room with a private balcony out back. It was quiet, clean and the restaurant was great. Highly recommend it!

Good value for large family
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/05
The breakfast that was included was the highlight of the hotel, a good value and lots of selections. However, we stayed over a weekend and it was so noisy during one stay that we couldn't get to sleep. The location is good if like being by lots of shopping.

Ok place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/04
This wasn't as nice at the other Embassy's that I've stayed at. It was quite a bit noisier... both from the atrium and outside road noise. The staff was nice, not great. But the rates are lower than many of the other Embassy's so I still think it's worth it. Especially if you're travelling with kids and need the extra space.
