You've got to be kidding
By ,
This hotel is a complete joke...The smallest room I've ever stayed in (even for a boutique hotel) The room was the size of a closet, the bathroom was even smaller. There's no room to put anything down, no less write or do work. They advertise wi-fi but you cannot use your computer. Is this a joke?

Loved it!
By ,
I loved the European style in having the bathroom facilities across or down the hall, I loved the tight hallways and small rooms, I loved the eco-friendliness of the facilities, and I especially loved the location, which was close to everything I needed to reach. Fantastic!!!

Great hotel for a solo-traveler
By ,
I've stayed at this hotel numerous times as I frequently travel solo and spend very little time in my hotel rooms. It's in a super location, close to Bart, the Moscone Center, and within walking distance of Union Square. Very affordable for SF!!! It is tiny, but if you are out sight-seeing, dining and shopping, who cares!

$50 extra change for stained linen
By ,
They charged $50 for the line I accidentally stained by my period.. If you they wash it, it can be removable. they charged $50 for replacement. That is rediculous. one other thing.xThere was a pacage in the bath room that looked like a free gift, included razer for women, colon sample, candy sample etc. They change $7 for it. I don't want to stay this hotel any more.

Exactly what we needed!
By ,
A friend and I traveled to SF for a convention being held on top of Nob Hill. The convention hotel was too expensive for us, so we looked for a less costly one for the week we were to be there. We found the Mosser Hotel on this site, and read the reviews. The most common complaint seemed to be the small rooms. Since we were staying in separate rooms, we decided to stay at the Mosser, mainly because of the good price. As it turned out, that was not the only positive quality of the Mosser. Although the bath and shower were down the hall, they were clean and always available. The room was small, but since we were not spending our days there, it did not matter. The service was fast, the hotel was spotless, it is in an excellent location for walking all over SF. Also, the cable cars were nearby, and we could commute to Nob Hill. It turned out to be an excellent week. Pro: Location, location, location Good service, clean hotel, helpful staff Price is affordable Near all kinds of transportation Con: Small rooms Bath and shower down the hall

TINY!
By ,
No exaggeration- these rooms are TINY. Even my college single dorm rooms were larger than this. Great location and service otherwise, but next time I'll try to find a place with a larger room for this price.

Great Location but boy are the rooms tiny!
This was located in an excellent location, modernly Ikea-decorated, with a lovely lobby. The service was excellent. I booked a single queen/double sized room with a shared bath with the floor. I'm not sure how many rooms are on each floor for the shared baths, but there is one shower and one toilet for women and one toilet for men. All facilities were clean; sometimes someone would be in the shower but you can always to go another floor and take a shower there. The only bad thing is about the room size... no one is kidding here- the rooms are TINY. I peeked into a room that had a private bathroom and it was just the same size as the one with the shared bath. Even my college dorm single room was larger than this. The location is excellent in Union Square, but next time I'll try to find a place with a larger room.

Clean and charming
By ,
The Mosser looks so small compared to the taller buildings, and it is old and a very pretty building. The outside reflects what the hotel stands for. I felt very at home there and want to be a repeat visitor. I got a great deal for economy room with shared bath. To note: the point of this hotel is to raise some money for non-profit purposes, so this is not a place that puts on airs, yet has enough trend and class to satisfy singles, friends, couples, and business travelers who are looking for fair value with a bit of history. There was someone at the front desk to let me in when my train arrived at 1pm and I felt very safe and discovered the location is around the corner from BART, bus, and cable cars. The room was very clean. The shared baths were fine, but bring hand cleaner to the toilet as there is no sink. You may need to rinse out the clawfoot tub/shower which is in a room separate from the toilet. The bedroom was very clean and kind of chic with chocolate brown and cream colors. It has a bed, sink, small closet, fan, phone, radio/cd player, and tv with internet. The room cleaners were timely, thorough, and volunteered help. The location is around the corner from Market St, which is the flattest part of SF and the easiest way to walk to the Warf. I had noise from construction during my stay where they were working next door, but I just closed the window and that took care of most of the noise. Only issue was they started drilling against the brick wall and spilling consruction dust through the open window 7:30 am! For a woman alone, I felt safe and I enjoyed the color and bustle of the downtown area. The taxi drivers will come up to the front door at 5am to give you a ride if you want, or just walk around the corner to catch the bus. Amtrak bus also stops at bus stop around corner on Market and 4th. Shopping Center next door. Ferry just down the street. Tour bus picks up with phone call at all hotels. When getting on cable, just buy individual tickets insead of all day pass because if you are going to Fisherman's Warf or Golden Gate Park, you will probably spend all day there anyway, so save money. Panhandlers hang around on Market: they are aggressive and wierdly fair. They will hold you accountable! I have heard negative things about SF, but just be on your toes with your stuff, and don't brush by everyone, as some people offer directions/music and are interesting to talk to. There is a lot to see and experience. If you are there to see SF, the people are the heart of it. Go to a street corner or plaza, sit, and watch. China town and Union Square are just blocks away. The ferry building at the end of Market has great shopping and the ferries are a short ride across the bay and back. Next door to hotel is a Container Store, a drug store caddycorner on Market, and coffee shops nearby. The restaurant in the Mosser, I didn't try. I used the laundry machines in the basement and got change at the front desk, but I think there is a change machine and vending machines in the basement too. All the machines are to the right of the elevator in the basement. For the value and safe feeling and friendliness of staff, I loved it.
