My Wife and I are returning again this year!

We Love the Half Moon Inn. We traveled from MI. last January and stayed a couple of weeks. We enjoyed our stay so much that we've already booked our room for Jan. 2013. We travel often. Which means we stay in a variety of 3 and 4 star Hotels. The way we judge a Hotel is first cleanliness, staff, comfort, amenities, price and location. In exactly this order, with cleanliness being more important than staff and staff more important that comfort. If there's an issue with comfort I tell the staff, then I rate the staff's response. If there's an issue with cleanliness (depending on severity) we just leave. We honestly have already booked our 2013 room and our flights. We wouldn't be going back if we didn't LOVE this Hotel. P.S. The attached restaurant is excellent. Their Sunday Brunch is one of the best dining experiences you can have in San Diego. We also tried brunch at the San Diego Hilton, but were not impressed.

What a great place to stay in San Diego!

We only stayed two nights and during that time, were busy enjoying other San Diego attractions- spending one entire day at the Zoo. We only wish we would have had more time to hang around Humphreys. All the basics (clean room, very comfy bed, plenty of pillows and towels, fridge, microwave, etc) plus lots, lots more at this - literally - on the Bay Inn. The grounds are fabulous! Boats are docked right outside your door. Mid-week prices are very reasonable and we loved their landscaping's tropical theme. Dislike: The only thing that was a negative was that we were supposed to get free parking as part of our package but the charge was on our bill. (Parking is usually $10 per night.) The $20 charge was immediately corrected, so it was no big deal. We will stay here again and hopefully have more time to enjoy more of the local attractions and activities we ran out of time for on this trip.

Overpriceced

We stayed at humpries for a concert. Concert venue is very nice. Lower level balconys were not private, anybody could walk into your balcony or room.Upper level room only had fridge no microwave. Upperlevel rooms facing parking lot had no balcony. As other reviews stated roomservice left-overs were left in hallway all day. Reservations required us to do a 2-night minimum, but virtually all guest checked out the morning after the first night. After paying around $200 per night, we had to pay an additional $10 per night, parking fee.Why the hotel wouldn't accomodate their guest w/free parking or continental breakfast is why we will more than likely never stay there again. There numerous hotels in the area that offer more for less!

Beautiful place to stay!

I loved everything about this hotel. We stayed in a suite overlooking the marina. The room was spacious and beautiful. The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Grounds are gorgeous and emaculate. Very peaceful and relaxing. Service excellent. I will always stay there when I travel to San Diego. You should too!

Not bad

I stay here most during most of my visits to San Diego for work. I like the grounds, the near by marina and if I get the chance, lounge by the pool. .38 Special played there a few years back and I got to listen to from the comfort of the pool with a beam and coke in hand. As for comfort etc. Its an inn, much like just about any place you stay, there is going to be something you don't like about it.

Loved IT!

We saw all the mixed reviews for Humpreys & decided to take a chance on this hotel to stay prior to our sons graduation from Marine Bootcamp! It was wonderful for the price and we even got a free upgrade to a gorgeous suite. (it was mid-week) We made coffee in the room and took it outside to a viewing deck in the morning - the marina view was amazing. The staff was very helpful and informative! Bed as comfy as a heavenly bed & the pool/hot tub clean & kept. We were walking distance from an awesome local Mexican restaurant & enjoyed strolling down the Shelter Island path in the morning. Overall, a WONDERFUL experience! We are so happy we took a chance on Humpreys!

DO NOT GET MARRIED HERE!

Do not, do not, DO NOT get married here it was a NIGHTMARE! The worst part - security told us he was going to "shut down" the reception and hour and a half early because we were being "too loud!" We wanted room service for all of the girls on the morning of the wedding and it took 2 hours to get it with no apologies and multiple phone calls. My in-laws booked their largest suite to use as a hospitality suite for all the guests to eat and drink at, and every night security came by to tell us to be quiet. When asked if there had been complaints they said, "no, we are just be pre-emptive." It even got to the point that the one security guy called the cops and had 8 (thats right 8!) cops come to "break-up" our party as well as three other wedding party get-togethers. They told family member who were from out of town to be quiet in their OWN rooms through the screen door during the day. This place was absolutely ridiculous and I HIGHLY recommend that NO ONE use this resort. They hold concerts and weddings all the time yet we seemed to be the loudest party to ever step foot on that resort. Save your money and go to a place where they will accommodate you and your guests! I feel terrible for my in-laws who were embarrassed by all of the issues we encountered, especially since in was a destination wedding and everyone came from out of town!
