WARNING THIEFT at Housekeeping camp
By , 09/21/08
We were robbed at the housekeeping camp on 9-17-2008. Someone stole a purse right from our table and used the credit cards within 3 hours outside the camp. KEEP Anything of value in the locked in the bear boxes.

BBQ Pit Beware!
By Michelle, 06/27/08
We just went last weekend and overall, this was the best camping experience I've had in a long time! Like most of the reviews say, the views were amazing (Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Merced River) it was clean, organized, beds were nice, staff was friendly, and even the campers were friendly. The only thing I must say is that NO WHERE could I find specific information on the BBQ Pit area. So, we went with fingers crossed that all we needed was utensils and frying pans. I am writing this for all the future campers of Housekeeping - BRING YOUR OWN STOVE! The BBQ Pit was basically a half grill covering half the fire pit which lay on the ground, and we weren't allowed to have fires until after 5pm (that may be because of summer fire hazards). Luckily, the rental shop right next to registration had brand new stoves for rent for just $2 bucks the entire weekend (or however long your stay is). So, breakfast and dinner was served thanks to the stove, and the fire pit was used to make great s'mores!

housekeeping campground review
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/11/07
Liked: The grounds location center in the valley a plus, close to everything! The provided tents, enclosed fence area with tables,BBQ grill, own fire pit, river close and price make this the best camping spots in Yosemite! Could use additional restroom/showers locations on grounds.

REAL Camping!!!!
By KoNi, 10/09/07
Our trip to Yosemite was a great!!! The Housekeeping Inn was exactly how it is portrayed in the pictures and descriptions. It was very clean and orderly for such a outdoor camp and the staff were some of the most "soft spoken" friendly staff I've met! As a matter of fact alot of the locals are all pretty mellow. The price is really good considering what you get (showers, laundry room, CLEAN Restrooms, and spacious camp sites. The only downside I had is the general store that was on location was rather small and not sufficient to me...there are 2 others bigger stores just a few minutes from camp. The fire wood they sell isnt worth it either...a whole box burns for maybe 30min at the most! Other then that this camp is charming and you will never forget you stay!!!

Roughing it with eletricity
By Gaby, 09/26/07
This is a great place to stay if you don't own a tent! The fact that each "room" has electrical outlets is a major plus. Although, to tell you the truth, we hardly used them. We took tube twinkle lights to have more light at night. We also used the outlets to charge our walkie talkies since we were a group. Make sure you take all camping gear you normally would. We were definitely short a few items since this was our first camping effort. The general store comes in very handy when you find you didn't bring something. I highly recommend sleeping bags and maybe some old sheets or blankets to lay on the plastic covered mattress. We cooked in the fire pit, but a propane stove or small charcoal grill would have been way better. If you plan to use the fire pit, bring wood! We didn't and bought A LOT from the general store. I'm sure we would have saved a lot if we would have brought it. Especially when it rains. We went during a very active bear time. The camp employees are great about making sure trash is not left out & fires are put out. They go around all night in an effort to prevent bear encounters. maybe just during this time of year. Overall, great place....would definitely stay here again.

Best Pace On Earth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/06
Houskeeping has been a family tradition in my family for over 30 yrs. However I am only in my twenties but I have been goin evry yr for the last 10 yrs. Basically it is the best place on earth. Very beuatiful and peaceful. Its a ton of fun for all ages. The views from houskeeping are incredible and up by the main office there is the free valley shuttle if you want to take the views to the next level. I have been going to Yosemite since I was 3 and housekeeping is the only place i will stay out of all the other places.

Can't wait to go back!
By Leticia R, 11/13/05
My family and I stayed at the housekeeping camp in August 05. The bathrooms were really clean, the showers needed to be cleaned alittle more frequently. Great spot, great river, we even had electrical outlets! We had a great time and can't wait to go back. The Romo family from Reseda, CA.
