Had to move rooms! Will not be back!
By Stan, 11/30/09
We checked in to room #245 and while moving things found some kind of "droppings" on the carpet. I appeared to be rodent or bird. The employees apologized but it made for an uncomfortable stay. The noise level in the morning was also high with the maids cart going by very early.

The place is fine........
By John K., 11/11/08
Front desk people courteous and helpful; let me check in 2 hours early. Free wireless internet in rooms. Restaurant staff nice, service good, food yummy. Outdoor bar at swimming pool looked great. I did not use it but it was well-attended by other customers. The noise from other rooms was noticed by me, but it was NOT bad. I could hear street traffic, airplanes, and Amtrak trains through the front door.......however.....I have foam earplugs every time I travel just for little things like this, and as such, these noises were a not a problem for me (they weren't that bad to start with). It was a clean comfortable bed, and a hot shower......all I need. This place is not as bad as other people are making it out to be.

Good Place
By Todd, 07/20/08
We stayed here three das in July, and we had a good stay. The bar right next to the pool is wonderful and the bartender we had was helpful in suggesting places to eat in town like Rudy's awesome mexican food and dirt cheap prices! We loved having the complimentary internet on the hotel computer in the lobby. We also great appreciated the kids eat FREE in the hotel restaurant, but we only ate there once for breakfast. It was good though. I thought that the hotel was a bit overpriced, but it was clean, the front desk was always helpful and even when we left our phone charger in our room, they shipped it to us! Very helpful :)

Step up from Motel 6!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/13/08
This hotel was truly a step up from the Motel 6 a couple blocks away, that we stayed in on our last trip to UCSB. Although the rooms are basically the same size, the Holiday Inn has real stone floors and walls in the bathroom! The SLIDING GLASS door on the bathroom didn't provide much privacy, but was unique to look at and get peeks of the person inside. Normally I like a bit more privacy when on the toilet, but I guess I am getting older and don't appreciate modern design. Unlike the motel 6 which had unlimited coffee and sugar in the lobby, this hotel provide a coffee maker in the room! I wish though that they would provide a little more sugar that the two little packs, as I had to pad down to the restaurant to get enough sugar to have that first cup of the day. It seemed like a nice enough restaurant, with the same kind of stuff you would find in the free breakfasts at many hotel chains, although here it was aprox $10 per person to enjoy, so I skipped it and went to the Denny's across the street. I was a bit disappointed though by the weeds in the planting beds, this area is so beautiful and plants grow so well that a few dollars of bedding plants could have choked out the weeds. The staff was friendly and that is probably the hotels best feature. That and Kentucky fried chicken across the street and the inexpensive off brand gas station! So if you need a perfectly adequate accomodations that you will not have to complain about, at a price that is not too out of line for the area, close to UCSB or the airport and freeway, this might be the place! A sure 2 star experience! (Maybe even 3!!)

Good hotel option for Santa Barbara
By EricW, 07/04/05
My girlfriend and I stayed there for one night for a friend's wedding and we were really happy with it. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly at check-in. They were flexible when we asked to check in early because the hotel was empty. The room was clean and still smelled somewhat of cleanser -- which was fine by us! The room was spacious and the bathroom was a good size for us both to get ready for an event. For what we paid and for Santa Barbara, this was a great value. Whether going to Santa Barbara or UCSB, it's a really good hotel.

Bad Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/21/05
This "hotel" is bad. Rooms are small, noisy, old. Definitely needs a remodelling. It's bad enough hearing your neighbor's through paper thin walls, it's worse when it's prom night, and your underage neighbor's keep you awake performing acts into the night. Not a family hotel. Underage couples appear to be the predominant clientele.

Dirty rooms. Dust, pieces of debris in corners, outdated rooms, etc.
