Mold,Mold & More Mold!!!!!!
By Robin, 8/19/11
This was the worse hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay at !!!! There was mold on the walls and ceiling of my room. I called the Front Desk and spoke with a Manager name Andrew. What a piece of work that guy was... . If you want to stay in a place that is worse then a bad Motel 6 at a four star price this place would be for you. I wouldn't let anyone I care about stay there!!!!

Loved it!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/11
We booked 3 nights at this hotel at the recommendation of a friend. We ended up staying another night instead of traveling up to Carmel as planned. The rooms were very big and it was perfect for my husband and I with our 3 kids. If you are looking for a kid-friendly place that you can walk from the pool to the beach and back to your room in a bathing suit, this is the place.Yes this place is old, but it is very elegant and comfortable. We can't wait to go back.

Bad Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/11
The stay at the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach. When checking init was Nice and Fridley. When we get to the room there is another story. The first thing was there were no smoke alarms in either room. When in the shower closed the cretin and someone had placed gum on the cretin. There was mold in the joints of the calking. When I whet to turn on the water the leaver was broken. A course there where no rooms being the 4th of July went to the manger the last morning and he did not even say sorry. Me and my wife went to the pool and only stay for a short time went back to the room and Facilities was there the only thing with that was no one told use about it. For the $1200.00 I would never stay there again. Thanks Rob

Do not stay at this place!!
By MichTich866, 8/29/10
The lobby looks nice but once you step in the elevator you'll see the real Embassy Suites at Oxnard. The elevator seems like it's about to break! Not all Embassy Suites are bad but I must say this is the worst hotel i've ever stayed at. It looks like a motel! It smells soo old you have to open all the windows in your room for like 4 days for the smell to lighten and see if you can even open the window, I could barely open it when i went there because it was so old. There was roach on my bed and a mosquito the size of my head on the wall! Plus if you don't wake up before 12:00 pm they don't clean your room. The beach isn't even that close, you have to walk alot and walking on sand is really tiring. Besides the weather is too horrible to even go to the beach. The only good thing is the food is really good at their resturant. This place is simply disgusting! If I were you I would not stay there ever!

Please dont stay at this place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/10
The lobby fools you into thinking you just arrived at a grand hotel in Maui!!! Dont check in, and dont hand over your credit card!!! Guest Beware!!! Fraud is another word I would use...ever feel ripped off after spending $351.00 in your hard earned money?? Then go ahead and stay. You then will know how it feels.....THis place needs a serious make over, its dirty, the food is awful, felt like I was staying at a military base... The goverment is allowing troops to stay at the same place classified as a "RESORT" hotel...????Whats wrong with this picture.... I love our TRoops but shouldnt they stay on base, or cheaper more practical rate hotel/motel. Thats a problem with goverment spending...This just wasnt right!!!! American Express HELP ME !!!! I should have read the reviews before I stayed at this place.... Santa Barbara you pay half of this cost, stay in beautiful rooms, and have great complimentary food....Travel up the coast people, and stay away from this hotel.

EXPENSIVE and CHEAP
By William, 5/25/10
Nice setting for a hotel. Resort???? Excessive charges for most basic services. $15 per day to park your own car under the complex. $9.95/day for med fast internet either wired or wireless. Early checkout...$75 fee PLUS a $&.50 tax on the fee. $ charge for local calls, $$ for long distant, $$$ for business related faxes, etc. Two room suite is very nicely arranged and roomy. Resturant/bar is a gathering place for locals. Planning to eat at the resturant, DON"T come hungry. The service is very SLOW. Stayed two weeks on company business, moved over to the Comfort Inn for less than half the daily cost. A hotel charging $180/night (Gov rate), looks like they could throw in the internet, free local calls and parking. And remember, Don't check out early, might as well stay the extra night, it's only a $100 more with the early ck out fee. Wonder if they charge extra for staying longer????

Do NOT be tempted to stay here!!!!
By Joy, 6/25/08
My best analogy of this "Resort" is this: You see what looks to be a beautiful woman - you get closer and get a good look and realize that she has the trappings of good looks but is very unattractive close up. This is Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach to a "T". The lobby has been extenstively renovated and the pool area has also been renovated. Both are pluses - also right on the beach - another plus. THEN you get into your room (we stayed in the King Suite - ocean front for $300 per night) and you realize that all is not well at this "resort". The walls are paper thin - you can hear EVERYTHING (which was really a bummer when the people next door had a party until 1:30 am and our calls to the manager were met with voice mail). There was water dripping from the vent - it was freezing in our room - we called maintenance and a guy showed up, explained he had to climb into the vent to activate the "heat" and opened up the ceiling to reveal a rusted out system. He explained that the system is very old and so he had to manually turn on the heat and he was not even sure it would work (luckily it did)! I kid you not! The bathrooms are redone in marbel - nice - but you have to overlook the cheap furniture and carpeting and the lime green chipped interior paint. Bottom line: the rooms are old, ugly, and cheap. Let me next address the quality of people who stay at this resort. This can be a cheap place to be by the beach (if you get the garden view rooms). So you get cheap kinda people here. Let's see - in the jacuzzi with my 5 year old son there was a very drunk man who could barely stand, a tatooed man talking about his eight years in prison for a bar fight, and gaggle of unsupervised children fighting with the water. Oh yes, there was also a family reunion of very quality folk who were rolling around the "resort" drunk and rude. PLEASE - do yourself a favor - DO NOT STAY HERE...the place is seedy, run down, and very badly managed. I could not even find a manager to complain to - I had to speek with a clerk. Where was the manager? No one knew. I have no idea why this place has other good review. I read them before I stayed here and felt reassured - what a huge mistake. I don't know you but I want to save you from this place. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

Absolutely NOT CUSTOMER ORIENTED - It totally needs a new manager
By nick S, 5/11/08
The location of the hotel is awesome. That's pretty much the only thing that is nice about this hotel...but yet again it has nothing to do with the hotel. The personnel and the way they are managed seems to be the biggest problem. I will just summarize some of my impressions since I don't feel like writing an essay about it: 1. Restaurant food = awful. It's absolutely tasteless. The waiters and waitresses just don't care about the customers. You'll consider yourself lucky if you get a refill once and if the wait for your food is less than 1 hr after you ordered. 2. Room service = a joke. More than 1 hr wait for....A SALAD. 3. Front desk personnel = rude and awful. Hopefully you won't need anything extra. They are completely USELESS. I guess it's an Oxnard thing (I've noticed this in several other establishements in Oxnard) or a poor management thing. "Customers Are the Reason We Exist" does not register with the employees and managers at this hotel. I would choose another hotel unless you want to overpay for a hotel stay that is an example of mediocrity and third world management.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/12/07
What a wonderful place to stay! I cant wait to go back! The service is friendly, rooms are big, two bathrooms to a suite, two TV's, a gorgeous swimming pool, and awesome free breakfast. The beach was BEAUTIFUL, and so close!!! I miss it already.
