NOISY, And they don't care
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/09/07
Great location! but thats all. Extremely noisy! There is no sound insulation in this old building, you hear every car go by outside, every converstion on the patio, and every note played on the resturant stereo as it reverberates through your floor. Don't come without earplugs or you won't get any sleep. The front desk and kitchenette are poorly trained and inattentive. No response when I tried to complain. The manager was to busy to talk to me at check out, and did not respond to an email I sent.

Loved it!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/06
Dear Future Visitors, My fiance and i recently got married and as part of our honeymoon we decided to go to the heart of the wine country. Sonoma was so beautiful and we were also very lucky to go when the weather was perfect. The hotel was amazing. It is right on the "square" where everyone congregates. When we were arrived we told the sweet girl at the desk we just got married and she said she would do something special for us as a congradulatory gift. We had dinner that everning in the El Dorado Kitchen just downstairs from our room. The food was to die for. The hotel had them brign us a bottle uf champagne and the nice girl gave a complementary dessert. There are too many wonderful things i could say. We went wine tasting, walked through the park, went window shopping, and of course we spent a little time in the room (wink, wink). You must visit this tiny little hamlet and say hello to Ashley, Aranda, and Audrey their attentive and sweet staff. sincerely, Jennifer Howard

Excellent hip option on Sonoma Square
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/05
The Eldorado combines two rare qualities: hip design with rustic charm. Think a small country "W." For real. It has a chic-bohemian vibe that is a wonderful option to other typical area hotels, which seem to go heavy on the potpourri or faux-Mission decor. Excellent restaurant with a terrific, knowledgeable and vivacious wine steward. Great adventurous and delicious food. Warm friendly service all around -- from the front desk person to the hotel manager. Can't beat the location. Try this place if you are looking for something less ordinary. And pay homage to the huge old fig tree on the pool patio!

Not worth the $$$
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/05
My wife and I stayed at El Dorado earlier this summer and were rather disappointed by the extremely poor service. The staff at the frontdesk seemed inexperienced and restaurant service took forever. Rooms were comfortable but very noisy. Lack of basics - no elevator (or help) to move luggage and lack of room service take it out of contention if we were to return.

The Cutest Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/05
Very Nice Property, Staff is excellent and very knowlegable about the wineries in the area plus Napa I mean the girl that helped us knew both valleys like the back of her hand. She knew the Church masses on the top of her head. I was just so shocked because i would have never expected all of that. The rooms are so cute with a great balcony. Restarants were in walking distance. They had tasting passes so we can taste complimentry in alot of places. The Girl that helped us booked are tours and restarant reservations. The staff definetly goes Above and Beyond. I would recommend this to anyone. The only down side is there is none to complain about. El Dorado Kitchen they have great food and lots of specialty drinks which was nice after a long day you tend to get wined out and need a real drink.

Nice place to visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/04
I love the look and fell of this hotel. But maybe because of the price and ambience, the staff feel that they don't need to perform much in the way of customer service.

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/02/04
We stayed at the El D 2 nights and were intrigued by the non-existant customer service displayed by both the front desk and the manager at the time. I have worked in customer service for 20+ years and was blown away by the rude displays exhibited towards us. We had bid on a pkg and discovered that all terms of the pkg were not honored after our arrival. We booked well ahead of our arrival and upon check-in were advised that the bottle of complimentary wine & breakfast would not be honored. Of course when bidding, these factors come into play pricewise. We were offered a voucher for a roll/coffee (we passed) and were advised that there was "no wine" in the area. You can imagine that we broke out in laughter at this response considering we were in the heart of wine country and the hotel restaurant was 10 steps away from where they were telling us this information. Do you think they don't sell wine in the gourmet restaurant? The hotel itself was very nice and our room was also. Be advised no elevators or assistance to move luggage to your room if this could be a concern. We were booked for 3 nights and had pre-paid for 2 so we choose to stay; however we cancelled
our 3rd night and stayed else where. So sad that such an unprofessional attitude towards customers (their $$$ we would think)was displayed by the front desk "male". We will never stay here again and recommended that others do not either. We loved Sonoma however and the square. We preferred it to the larger cities in the area. The shops/restaurants, etc. were excellent and the history is amazing-close to all wineries and beautiful drives anywhere you want to go. You know we couldn't make this
one up - it's too bizzare.
