Great & Clean Place to Stay!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/01/07
We visited San Franciso last September for our 20th anniversary. It was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed - very, very clean. You could take your shoes off and walk around without it seeming nasty, which is rare in hotels/motels. The king size bed slept great - just like home, once we adjusted to the time difference! The staff was very friendly and accomodating. If our travels take us back there someday, I would definitely stay there again. The location was good also. Not in a bad part of town and we were not far from the cable car pick up/drop off points to get around the city.

Good Experience
By Carol, 09/19/06
This place had great style. The room was very comfortable and well decorated as well as clean. The location was great depending on why you are in San Fran. We were able to walk to most places. Prob not the best place to go for a first time tourist trip to san fran. Good for art studios, and the like. The diner across the street on the corner had a great breakfast. We watched a bum try to break into a car right outside the window though. Another tried coming inside to ask for food/money and was quickly told asked to leave. I was a bit surprised at the amount of homeless in the area, but, pretty much typical stuff for a big city. The restaurant/bar in the hotel was very nice; very hip crowd. A bit too cool for my taste and almost impossible to find a seat, but it was fun to people watch. It was very cold when we visited and I appreciated the variety of free hot herbal teas in the lobby. Oh, one more thing. Probably not a good family hotel at all. For one, there weren't any families there--usually a good sign. In fact, my sister came to meet us for lunch (she lives near there). She met us in the lobby with her 3 kids. We were all very excited to see each other, exchanging energetic hugs and laughs at the front entrance. It seemed to make the receptionists extremely uncomfortable, as if it was bad for business having happy kids there. The kids weren't touching anything, but were full of energy. No big deal, whatever. We left for lunch and that was it. It was just pretty obvious. Other than that, we really did enjoy our stay. Perhaps a bit pricey though. You're mostly paying for trendiness in my opinion (which is something I don't personally really mind). Just preference.

Great honeymoon experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/06
We stayed at the Adagio for our honeymoon trip to San Francisco and had a great experience. We were greeted and/or welcomed every time we went in and out of the hotel. The hotel was within walking distance to Union Square and the cable car line. There were many great restaurants close by. We stayed in an executive junior suite that had a fantastic view of the city. The room was not huge, but rather cozy with warm decor. Everything was kept very clean. There were many homeless people walking the streets around the area of the hotel due to the proximity of the Tenderloin district. However, the hotel staff did a great job of keeping them away from the hotel so that you would not be harrassed when leaving or returning to the hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

Terrible neighborhood
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/06
We were really looking forward to our first trip back to San Francisco in many years. Instead of staying at the wharf, as we have in the past, we decided to stay in the Union Square area, and selected the Adagio for a 4 night stay. We booked an executive-level junior suite. While the hotel is nice, the room was too small to be called a suite. The pullout couch could barely be opened up, and once opened, you couldn't walk around it. The area the hotel is in is really a couple of blocks from Union Square, and there is a terrible problem with panhandlers, which are at every other doorway. We have a teenage daughter who kept getting spoken to by these street people. After two nights, we checked out and went back to the wharf, where, even though it's 'touristy', we were not accosted every time we left our hotel. We will not return here.

Great hotel
By Cherie, 05/30/06
Hotel Adagio is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, right near Union Square. There are a number of great bars and restaurants within walking distance, and the service was perfect. I'll be staying there again when I'm in San Francisco.

Great little place
By Robert S, 04/25/06
Great location and cool bar. Very nice staff and large rooms. I would highly recommend. It is a little hard to find in that the sign is hard to see, but other than that, which was no big deal, the place was great.

Fabulous for the price and location
By slm, 09/26/05
What a hip, clean, AND reasonable hotel in a fabulous location in San Fran with a fabulous restaraunt too! Walk right out the front door and just a few blocks to the center of town and to the trolly pick-up. Free internet as well!
