One star for service & overall experience
By BrownBrown99, 08/13/09
Was here for a wedding, the lobby was nice, free internet in the lobby. The courtyard for the ceremony was beautiful! The reception room was long and oddly shaped. Typical reception food of chicken & salmon that wasn't very good, very bland. Got a suite for $129, 2 queen beds & a sofa bed. The room was big, with 2 tvs, and appeared clean. The bed was comfy. The bathroom had red spots on the tub and on the ceiling, odd. And there was a quarter-sized hole in the wall where the knob hits the wall, because there wasn't a door stopper. The tub and the sink wouldn't drain very fast, so you're standing on dirty water during your shower. It drained literally 20 mins AFTER I got out of the shower, and left a mess of suds and hair behind since it drained so slowly. Ok, minor issues that I can deal with. But what really pissed me off about this place was the service. You'd think the service at a 3 or 4 star hotel would be superb. But honestly, I've gotten better service at a Red Roof Inn! Since we had 5 people in the room, I called before we arrived to ask for extra towels. Simple request, not provided. So I was the shafted one who had to dry myself with a tiny face towel. There's no free continental breakfast. Ok, that's fine, even though many other less nice hotels offer it. So I ordered room service, 3 pancakes with 3 sausages and fruit on the side, for what I thought was $5, as it states on the menu. Turns out, the menu was confusing because on one page it states kids menu, and apparently the kids menu continued to the next page where my pancakes were listed. So I didn't realize I was ordering from the kids menu, which is not allowed unless a kid was really eating it. But I ordered by its name, and there was no other items on the menu with that same name, so I don't understand how the front desk lady taking my order didn't catch that I was ordering off the wrong menu to clarify with me. And she didn't ask me if I was ordering it for a child either. She asked if this was for one person. Probably so she could charge me more if I said 2 people were sharing the food. So the food comes and it turns out to be $17 instead of the $5+tax+tip that I was expecting. My bill looked something like this: $12 pancakes and sausages and fruit $13 subtotal $2.60 tip (automatic 20%) $1.40 tax Total = $17 Lemme ask you, how does a $12 dish come out to be a subtotal of $13? The person who delivered it had no idea either so she went to ask the front desk. The front desk calls me and explained that to have the fruit and whipped cream on the side costs $1 extra, which they didn't specify on the phone when I ordered it and also didn't list it on the bill. Yes, for those 2 extra little bowls to put my fruit and cream in, instead of putting it on the same plate as my pancakes, cost me $1. They nickle and dime you every chance they get, hoping you won't notice, instead of clarifying with you to make sure you'd be ok with the extra charges, to ensure that you would be a happy guest. The lady on the phone was quite rude in her tone to me as well, even though I did not raise my temper at all. I was even chuckling on the phone because the whole thing was just so unbelievable to me. The cashier at the Starbucks was rude and not helpful at all. He rolled his eyes when my friend asked for a holder for the 2 cups of coffee, a bottle of OJ, and a breakfast sandwich that she ordered so she could bring it back to the room on her own. It's also $6 for a newspaper there instead of receiving it for free at your door every morning of your stay. Unbelievable! Other guests from the wedding had similar complaints about the service they received during their stay. My husband and I travel a lot, and we stay in hotels all the time, ranging from 2 to 5 star hotels. And I usually love Marriott's, we got engaged at a Marriott! But this is THE worst experience in a nice hotel that I have had. Yup, will never be back here again.

Not bad
By navyluke, 08/14/08
Service was very friendly, but I flew in late and there was NOTHING to eat. No Airport transportation, which is unbelieveable! Shower was clean but had some moldy looking stuff on the edges. TV's didn't work well, and were usually very fuzzy. Internet is ten bucks a day, or forty five for the week, which is rediculous. Noise traveled easily through the walls. Looks nice, but probably will not be staying there again. No convenience.

Wonderful Stay
By Pamela B, 08/10/08
Stayed here on business and was impressed, they waive the parking fee if you stay at hotel, room was coxy and nice, big screen TV and roomy, bed was comfortable. Restuarant was a little high priced for what you received but food was good. Is within walking distance of stores and restaurant. A short drive to Half Moon Bay. Will defiantly stay here again.

Excellent Service
By Px and L M, 03/10/08
I stayed at this hotel for a four day conference in February. The deluxe room was clean and beautifully decorated. Large king size bed with comfy sheets, lots of pillows. Large Screen TV that you can plug your MP3 player in to listen to. Trader Joe's and Rite Aid are within walking distance, so I ran over there to get some snacks. All the workers are friendly and smile when you walk by. The toiletries are Bath and Body Works, which I love, and the housekeeper gave me lots, so I could smell nice! I didn't like that they charged for internet service and parking. Ah well! Overall, I'd highly recommend this hotel. This place gave Marriott a great name. I was glad I stayed here!

Nice deal, horrid restaurant
By The Cisco Kid, 11/19/07
I got this room for $87 on priceline for a Saturday stay. It is a high 3 to low 4-star hotel. The good: Nice, clean room, very comfortable bed. There is a widescreen hd tv in every room, and that is great! The bad: parking is $14 per day, and the restaurant was horrible. There were 6 of us there, and we had bad experiences all around. For breakfast, we got the full buffets which tasted great! Unfortunately, our server was very absent-minded and we had to ask multiple times for drinks and waited for a long time for it. We eventually got the check after a long while. Apparently, one pays for the check up front with the host, or at least we did since she never came back to us. The problem with the service is that when your table has only drinks (oj and coffee), there should be almost no wait. Thats all we asked for. And did I mention this was all at $20 per person?! Its too bad, because this review would have been a lot higher without the restaurant. Just make sure when you go there, skip the restaurant. And if you can avoid, don't park there.

the circle rooms
By april, 10/28/07
the best thing about this hotel are the few (circle rooms) at the front of the hotel. because of the architecture of the hotel there are a few rooms at the front that make the huge bedroom a semi circle and for some reason that just makes the room especially cool. That it has a seperate bedroom and setting area is also nice, and the part that the kids love the best is the gigantic heated pool. And when I say heated, I mean heated like above 95degrees. it has a great food whether dining in or with room service. all in all it is more like a resort than a business hotel but is fully equiped as either. Two big thumbs up!

Excellent Staff
The Staff could not have been any more gracious. They were there for all of our needs and request. We spent five days there while on a business trip. The Lobby and front entrance is beautiful. I was somewhat disappointed in the rooms. The decor needs updating. Rooms were always clean and well stocked, just blah. Add new paint and colorful fabrics and it would be a very quiet, comfortable place to relax and enjoy.

Staying in a Palace
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/05
I liked the professional services. I liked the great and comfortable rooms. I felt like I was a guest for a Queen in London. Nice staff, no dramas and no loud music. Fun place for children. The room was fanastic, nice sheets, bed, pillow. I only thing that i would recommend to change is the variety of food in the resturant.
