Desert Inn and Suites, Anaheim

Great place to stay this is where we stay everytime we go to Disneyland right across from the entrance. Rooms are always clean. We will always go back. Staff is always friendly and eager to help.

My husband and I stayed here for our 20 Year Anniversary in 1/2010 and found the staff to be fantastic, very friendly, and very willing to help with information and making our stay the best it could be. This past week we stayed again with our 4 children and had the same experience. This is most definitely our favorite of the budget hotels within walking distance (reasonable walking distance in our book=you don't mind walking at midnight after a full day in the parks with school aged kids and teens) of the hotel. The rooms have been clean and in good repair both times we've stayed. Some of the pros of staying here that I haven't already stated are a) you can "check in" early and park your vehicle, but you won't get your room until later in the afternoon.....for us this is perfect; b) on your day of check-out if you ask ahead, they will let you remain parked in the lot until 2 pm (or later if they aren't busy); c) the refrigerator is big enough to keep yogurt, drinks and lunchmeat/etc for a few days for a budget saving trip to Disneyland that includes bringing your own snacks, lunch, and drinks; d) nice and quiet, even if you're sleeping on the sofa bed in the front of the suite room. Cons: the biggest one, and really only one worth noting is that the breakfast is VERY VERY basic. The choices both times we visited included: toast, a piece of fruit (they seem to alternate between apples and oranges), sweet rolls, 2 choices of cereal, milk, coffee, hot water (but nothing to go with it, no tea bags or hot cocoa packets), orange juice and a fruit punch drink. This isn't a problem if you know ahead of time because you can easily bring packets of instant oatmeal or yogurt, etc to help round out the breakfast and make it more complete. If you are looking for a clean room to sleep in, and a very nice staff to work with, this is the place for you!

The only thing good about the hotel is that it is right across from Disneyland's entrance-and the staff knows it! The suite we booked was not available so our family of 4 was crammed into a smaller room and had to come back from Disneyland the next day to move our stuff to the larger room. When we came back that evening to go to bed, the second bed had dirty sheets (excuse the graphics-but boogers and hair were stuck to the sheets GROSS!) We did not use that bed and the kids slept on the sofa that night. We put the sign out for maid service the next day and headed to Disneyland. To our surprise the sheets were not changed again the second night! We ended our trip one day earlier than planned as we could not bear one more night in that filthy hotel. They were painting the walls the entire trip-watch your clothes on the way out. Covered our cars in plastic to avoid overspray-don’t plan on leaving and when we tried to speak to the staff about the concerns, there was a jackhammer in the background of the lobby noisily jacking away. The staff was very empathetic. They basically said we called you on your way here to let you know your room was not ready so too bad. For the inconvenience they gave us a whirlpool tub in the second room and discounted to first night by $20.00-Big deal when you are spending so much money with them. The continental breakfast is a joke-cereal, apples and $1.00 doughnuts. I recommend eating out and staying at another hotel such as the Del Sol Inn (right next door to this one and looks much newer and nicer inside).

As always Desert Inn & Suites came through for our family (AGAIN) ! Everthing in it's pictures is what we got and better. Hotel looks like it had a recent renovation (rooms) so that was nice. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and the location is a family's dream come true when visiting Disneyland "ON A BUDGET". Continental Breakfast was FREE so can't complain about that. And for those of you who do shame on you - IT"S FREE!!! Elevators were a bit slow & no change machine in the laundry room.

I booked this hotel about 6 months in advance so got a decent rate of $60 a night for the standard "Deluxe" room. So for that reason I decided to give this MOTEL a try. It is closer to the crosswalk to Disneyland then the other MOTEL is stay at, the Anaheim Plaza. The walk from my room to the entry gate was just shy of 10 minutes. And my room was literally at the very back of the MOTEL on the 3rd floor. Well, this motel is just that, a MOTEL. And it is definitely showing it's age, at least in the room that I had. Although everything seemed nice and clean, and the room did not have any smell of it's age, it just seemed so dingy, and the color scheme outdated. Now, as far as I am concerned, I am the type of traveler who the room is just a place to crash, and the room served that purpose well. The bed was comfortable (though to me the bedding made the bed a little to warm...) Air conditioning worked fine, and kept the room a decent temp and though a little loud on the highest setting, was still acceptable. The only thing that was a little off as far as I am concerned was the height of the shower head. I'm 6' tall, and the shower head was only at about 5 and a half feet. But again, this is an older MOTEL, and I guess when it was built, people were shorter. I never had a problem with the availability of hot water while taking a shower (although the knob for hot and cold water was reversed). The sink did not have the best water pressure, and even still would not drain fast enough. It was nice to have a mini-refrigerator and microwave in the room. And I have to say the fridge worked great! Kept everything nice and cool as it was supposed to (I say this because I have stayed at MOTELS in the area that the fridge just barely kept things cool enough not to spoil). The room also had a small safe in it. It was a nice addition to keep things like spare camera, extra credit cards/cash in. Overall, If I got a really good rate again, I might stay at this MOTEL, but I think that I will book with the Anaheim Plaza for my next trip. The rooms are just a little bigger .. and definitely have more light. (and the price of about $70 a night is good for the area).

We just recently stood 2 nights at the desert inn. I was a bit worried when I made the reservations because of a few negative feedbacks, but I was wrong. The Hotel was great. We got there at 12 and was able to park there and walk to disneyland. Parking was not an issue ( the other reviews said there was) there is an additional underground parking lot. We were also able to check in early because our room was ready when we got there. Room was clean and spacious. We stood in the parlor suite. Beds were better than most rooms I've stayed at. The hotel is a little older but very well kept. The pool was indoors, a bit to warm for me, we went on a hot day, but if you like heated pools then this is great. The con. breakfast was basic, but hey its free. Ihop, dennys,mcdonalds, and kidds buffet all a few steps away. Definately will stay here again. Great location, Great price. Recommend this for familys with small kids, we were able to walk back and put our little one down for a nap and then go back to the park without waiting for a shuttle.

We stayed there for 2 nights, and rooms were clean and affordable, we arrived at 10 am and they leaved us to register and park our car even check in is until 3 pm. Location is great, just few steps from main entrance, and the price for suite A was fair for the service and facilities. Crew were nice with us (also bilingual because we're from Mexico) and no problems with previous reservation. I definitely recommend this hotel and of course we will stay here again in future Disneyland trips.

We loved that it was just accross disneyland. We left our car in the hotel and just walked to the main entrance. The room was super clean and the staff was very nice. The only things that we didn't like was the fact that they wait to exactly 3:00pm to check you in. They will not check you in any earlier although the room might be available. The breakfast was good and simple. Beats those continental breakfast that just give you a muffin and a cup of coffee. We would definately stay here again.

We recently just stayed at Desert Inn and Suites. It is so close to the park which is very convientent. Something happened with our room (i dont really understand what happened) but we were suppoused to have the smallest suite and they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite that could sleep 8 for the same price as our other room. I was very dissapointed in the breakfast they served though, it only had some sweet rolls, not ripe oranges, toast, and 2 choices of cereal. It was the crappiest conntential breakfast ive seen in awhile. The pool was great. They had a Elevator which is nice so you dont have to lug your things up the stairs. If you needed something like towels the maid would be up very shortly. over all this is a nice hotel.

I read the reviews for this motel before staying and I can say the negatives did not apply for our visit. The employees were nice folks. The pool was cleaned daily. The room was clean and someone made it up every day. We didn't see any bugs and did not mind walking on the carpets in our bare feet. The location is very close to the main gate of Disneyland so we just parked our car and walked. The price was great compared to everyone else that close to the gate. The breakfast wasn't great, but what do you want for a good price (it did the job, pastries, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee) The one negative (hard beds) did not keep us from planning to stay again, we have already reserved for our next visit. We stayed 5 nights and we were not disapointed. You're not in the room much and for the time we were there mostly to sleep the place was good.
