Every Board is Art
By Womanofthe, 09/26/09
My husband loves carpentry. This motel is an art piece. He looked at every board in our room and in the public places. The motel was built in the 50s so the rooms are huge and quite retro. I loved that you could not hear what was going on in the next room or on the second floor. That weird smell is the cleaning agent they use on the rugs after a visitor leaves and, believe me, this place is clean. Nah, the lady at the desk is not rude; she wants to make sure you understand the rules of the motel. She doesn't want problems and she loves every board of the hotel as much as my husband. She, too, used to work in wood as an artist and sees herself as a guardian of a historical treasure. With AARP, this little beauty from the past ran us less than $70 per night! I highly recommend this motel! And so does FROMMERS' Travel Guide!

You can find better in Crescent City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/16/08
I agree about the woman at the front desk being rude, she was very snotty, bossy and condescending. Rooms are spacious, but it wasn't worth it to walk on eggshells around her. There are other places in C.S.

Charming!

Loved the feeling of going back in time to the 60's. Beautiful rooms, spotless, friendly staff. Would recommend staying there than in one of the big chains any day.

The rooms are spacious and have a kind of a cool retro look, but the woman at the front desk is VERY rude

Budget motel
By Peggy, 07/26/08
If your looking for a cheap motel this is it. Rooms are bigger than most, but there was a slight smell in the room. Bed was decent, but the pillows were very flat. Shower stall was very small.

Only Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/18/08
I've been staying at the Curly Redwood Lodge with my family since I was 3 or 4 years old. My Grandma, Mother, Brother and I would drive up from the Napa Valley every year and stay for a week. The Lodge was a big part of our vacation and I'm now planning a trip with my husband and 2 year old daughter this April. I can't wait to see the hotel again.

A memory of old road trips!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/07
We stayed at this wonderful place in September 2007 on our 3 week 7,200 mile drive out west. (And you can believe that we really enjoyed our motel rests!) We loved the retro feel of it! The right at your door parking with planters of flowers was so convenient. The redwood that is used in the rooms and on the exterior is beautiful. If you want to stay someplace unique-this is the place. It will remind you of road trips when you were young!

Glad to have Found This Motel
By JamesM, 07/02/07
Very charming place. Great town too. Room was H U G E and immaculate. Manger was a joy to talk with and very accomodating. We stayed 1 night but wished we could have stayed more. If ever in Crescent City again, we'll be right back. To the owners and their son.........thanks for all the attention to detail. We loved it.

Very nice place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/06
We stayed at the Curly Redwood Lodge in Crescent City, CA. on our July 2006 vacation to see the Redwood trees. The motel is very clean, the staff friendly and the location is great. It took me back in time to the motels we stayed in on family vacations when I was a kid. It is built from a Redwood tree and that makes it very unique. We enjoyed our stay there.
