Howard Johnson Redding, Redding

We thought that Howard Johnson's was a much nicer property but we found out otherwise. Although it offers good pricing and the staff is great, the rooms are not so much. They need to be updated, cleaned better and offer a fridge and microwave without a charge like all other motels do.

I thought that Howard Johnson hotels were an higher end hotel. The place I stayed at was filthy. The toilet seat was chiped in several places, the sink was dirty, the carpet was nasty, I might as well have stayed at a motel 6. Even the towles were dirty. It was extremly discusting.

Stayed three nights, first two night was good for the price, the rooms were clean had a hair dyer and iron board. No fridge but the staff was friendly. The third night we had to change rooms, and we ended up getting a smoking room...BAD IDEA! Didn't sleep well at all, bed was real hard and the room was much worse then the non smioking room we had the night before. But overall the non smoking room was good for the price.

the place is old and run down, but it was a cheap price, however the pillow smelled like dirty hair even though the linen appeared to be clean. We went to the drug store to get fabric deodorizer so we could tolerate the bed. The strip at the bathroom door was loose and my husband nearly cut his foot on the metal strip. The curtains were held together with a huge paper clip. The location is dark and you can hear loud noises from the parking lot all night. It's not worth it to save a few bucks to stay in this terrible hotel.

Parking area was dirty.Room was not what we expected...pretty run down and not very clean.My wife wanted to leave almost as soon as we walked into the room.It was cheap in more ways than money.We both have learned the lesson that you get what you pay for.We both would not recommend it to anyone.

This place is a dump and the staff were rude! We had to move from the first room cause it was full of spider webs and dirty. The second wasn't much better. I'm sure for the $88 I paid I could have had a much better room. The staff was rude and the TV didn't even have a remote. They need to upgrade the whole place.

Advertised in Travelor magazine with a coupon for $39.99 (which the sign on the freeway also says). According to coupon, "cleanest rooms in Redding", if this is so I'd hate to see the rest of them as we found pills, among other things on the floor. At check in we inquired about their "free high speed internet" and were told that it was an extra charge. As a matter of fact we were told that our room didn't even have internet access. The walkway outside (on second floor)felt as if it could collapse at any moment. When we inquired if there was a fridge in the room, we were told that it was an extra charge. I quess they save their worst rooms for those unfortunate enough to have a coupon. I will avoid this Howard Johnson in the future, and I'm not sure I'd stay at any Howard Johnson if this is an indication of how they are run.

Clean Safe hotel with great amenities for the price. While the exterior could use some sprucing up, the service and the continental breakfast were fine and the inroom coffee a deffinite bonus. Loud early morning dumpster service the only real negative.
