Wish I was still there.
By Bonnie, 06/26/09
I thought the staff was very friendly and the hotel was close to everything we wanted to see. We had a great time. The price was very reasonable.

Great location, Great Value!!!
By Heidi, 05/09/09
The price was great for a two bedroom suite. The kitchen area was great for fixing snacks and light cooking. It was nice having two bathrooms and the larger table in one room for eating. The room was clean and comfortable. It was very spacious for a family with 4 little kids, much better than a basic suite style room. The pool area was great with a big pool, kids pool, and spa. The breakfast room was clean and well stocked with muffins, bagels, cereal, drinks, etc. We stayed at a not so busy time so we didn't have to wait in a long line to fix waffles which might be an issue during the busy times of year since there are only 3 waffle makers. It's a central location close to everything: Shopping, Sea World, Mission Beach, The Zoo, Old Town, etc...

The UnComfort Inn
By Barton, 09/15/08
Never stayed at a Comfort Inn, so thought we'd give it a try. Bad idea. Clean room, Comfortable bed. Room the size of a hampser cage - got clastrophobia. Need to run window AC 24/7 just to keep the stuffiness down. Walls paper-thin - very noisy, so don't plan on sleeping in on the weekend. "Deluxe Breakfast Buffet" - apples and bruised oranges - no seasonal fruit. Carb fest - fruit loops, frosted flakes, bagels, toast, waffles, muffins. Boiled egg had a hair on it - yuck! Line 10 deep to make a waffle or get coffee. Imagine +100 people all trying to get breakfast all at once - seating for about 50 people, so plan on taking your "breakfast" back to your room - you'll want to because it's so noisy that you can't hear yourself. Reminded me of cattle at a feed lot - disgusting! Shampoo container refilled each day, no conditioner. Pool towels the size of a hand towel - needed a stack just to dry off. Not enough parking for everyone. We needed a bucket of ice at 10 pm on a Saturday night, but the ice machine is in the pool area and it was locked. Front desk expected me to walk around to the remote back side of the hotel to get ice from another machine - no chance. This was one of the worst places we've stayed in California - suggest you spend a little more and stay at Motel 6!

Find somewhere else to stay.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/08
The hotel had limited parking, the room smelled like musty smoke and the whole property is seedy and poorly lit, the kind of place you wonder if your car will be in one piece in the morning. Bottom line is find somewhere else to stay.

Bad in every sense.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/01/08
Our bathroom was NEVER clean, it usually smelled of urine. The filth, hairs and dirt behind the bathroom door were there when we arrived and stayed there when we left, a week later. Breakfast had nothing to do with the colorful picture they have at the entrance. Our TV didn't work properly and we had to watch pay movies with continuos interruptions of other channels (after alot of arguing, we managed not to get charged for them). Internet never seemed to work correctly, we had to keep logging in or restarting our computer. As soon as our week was through we moved to another hotel in San Diego.

Good but noisy
By jc, 11/26/07
First I need to say that they have the best free continental breakfast I've ever seen in a motel. Also the location is great: minutes drive to everything. Also the service was good. This being said, the hotel was very noisy. Noise from the guests which they have not much control on. But also noise from the plumbing. When our neighbors used their bathrooms, there was so much noise in our room that it would wake us in the middle of the night.

Dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/07
I stayed here with my family and the room size was decent. The room size was the least of my worries, the sheets were dirty and I had the housekeeping staff bring clean sheets/blankets for both beds. The crib was wobbly, the A/C was horribly loud, and the room smelled like old smoke. It just seems run down to me the exception is the lobby which looks nice. I will say the advertisement doesn't match what you actually get. I was soooo disappointed with this hotel, I would NEVER stay there again.

The only review you need to read!
By Krista, 04/17/07
I've heard that I put a little too much thought into our family vacation but I wanted our first big trip to be perfect, and it was thanks to this Hotel. We stayed for 5 days, if I had to do it over again I would have stayed for 6. The room was a little small (maybe 400 sqft) but that and the hard bed were the only draw backs to the place. We stayed in the Kids Suite and our two (ages 2&4) loved the bunks beds. There was enough storage underneath to store all their clothes and there was ample space to store the rest of our stuff in the armoire. The kitchen was perfect. We did a little grocery shopping so that we could pack out lunches and have a car picnic at the parks and there was ample fridge and cupboard space. One perk about the kitchen is they do your dishes everyday with house keeping. We also got fresh sheets and towels every day. There was a previous complaint about the $30 late check out fee and I have to say that with a late flight being able to check out between 4pm and 6pm its well worth the extra $30 for their "Stay and Play" package. If you don't want to pay the $30 ($33.15 with tax) their late check-out is 1:30pm. If you make your reservations on-line direct through their site (the cheapest way to go) you can request a late check-out and an early check-in. We were able to check in to our room by around noon. The front desk staff was helpful and they have a full page of directions to get you anywhere you could want to go in the surrounding area. Highway access is easy. Yes the hotel is pretty much right on the side of the highway (there is a frontage road between) but I heard no noise from it we stayed in the 500 building. If you stayed in the very front of the hotel I imagine that you might get a little but I would highly doubt it. You are also close to the mall and a ton of your usual restaurants. Much to my surprise the food at your chain restaurants was no more than what I would pay here in Colorado. I almost forgot to review the breakfast (it’s included). It was decent and kid friendly. There were 3 waffle irons to make your own. The buffet also included a big revolving toaster, bagels, bread, delicious muffins, 3 kinds of cereal, 3 kinds of juice, a selection of coffees and cappuccino. Overall I would say pretty good, the kids and I loved their waffles but the husband wanted something a little more like meat and eggs so he was a little unsatisfied. As for the pool, the large one was heated, the little 1ft deep kid pool was cold but the 3ft deep hot tub was nice and warm. It was nice for the kids to splash in the 1ft pool while we sat next to it (I don’t think adults have it in them to tolerate that cold of water) and then were able to “warm up” in the large pool. I saw the pool being cleaned on a regular basis and when we swam in the afternoon it was clean. I hope that my review was helpful and that your trip is a wonderful as ours.

Plain but adequate; great value
By Bob, 10/22/06
I was looking for the lowest priced room that was quiet and clean with a good firm bed. Based on reviews, I chose this one and it met all my requirements. I didn't try or care about the TV; I did care about the wireless internet which worked. I see that some other reviewers have had various complaints; I didn't run into any of those problems. And of course DO NOT buy food from the unauthorizede people who slip flyers under the door. I talked with one couple who had fallen for that: The delivery was late, the price jacked up, and the quality inedible.

We liked it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/06
Likes: the bus stop is right in front of the hotel(San Diego has an easy public transportation); friendly staff; free continental breakfast (muffins, danish pastries, bagel & bread you can toast, do it yourself belgian waffles, fruits, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee & cappuccino etc.); clean bath tub; walking distance to Ricky's restaurant breakfast & lunch (they have a killer apple pancakes :o) very very good and huge); snack machines Dislikes: the sheets has stains; toilet sit has scratches; loud A/C; staff doesn't really know how to get to places using public transportation (they always recommend to take taxi, but taxi cost a lot)
