Horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/09
I would not recommend this hotel. The king room had very old furniture, the carpet was worn out and musty smelling, The bathroom had dirty corners and the soap was terrible...bring your own!!! The towels were thread bare and very small. The view was great, and the sheets were clean. So if you are not fussy about cleanliness or smells it would be ok.

Very Hospitable
By A, 10/04/08
The owner who checked us in was extremely nice and eager to please. Our room on the second floor, overlooking the lake, was newly decorated and very clean and comfortable. The view was fabulous. I would definitely stay here again.

They charged me $125 mid-week...
By Kris, 08/13/08
Nice place and I've not seen the problems posted here from others. But the $ sort of sets me off so I will ask tomorrow what the $78 is for - maybe mid-week WINTER? I'm on first floor lake side in reg room - no biggie.

Bugs and mice!
By StanB, 07/21/08
The first room here had tons of bugs that were in the sink, bedding... The next room we were sent to had mice. Needless to say the girls and wife were not happy. Just down the road to the South 10 miles were name brand motels that were new, provided a big clean room, clean pool, sauna, hot tub, free breakfast, had no mice and w/ AC! The kids and wife were much happier! And so was I.

Best place to stay in the Eastern Sierra
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/07
My only hesitation in giving the Boulder Lodge my absolute best recommendation is that I don't want to find it full next time I want to stay there. I've been there three times in the last year. Every time, the staff was unbelievably friendly and accommodating, offering to hold rooms when we were calling in from far away and stopping for dinner, warning us in advance about weather and road conditions, and making a point of trying to save us money on more economical rooms even when they were the last ones left for miles around and the staff could have easily put the screws on us. It's true that the rooms are somewhat older, but I call it cozy. If you want a sterile block of concrete for $300 a night, go to Mammoth. Yes, I did see a mouse once. Know what? You're at 7,000 feet in the mountains. There are no mice in the Motel 6 in Cleveland. The view of June Lake from the rooms is gorgeous, the air is fantastic, the heat always works well, the pool is fine, the hotel's own fishing dock is fabulous, the fish cleaning area is the best I've seen and doesn't even smell. I stop off there to fish or after coming down the Tioga Pass between Yosemite and Mono Lake/Death Valley, but I see lots of families there just having a good time. Oh, and just one more thing, since a couple of other reviewers ragged on the staff: last time I was there, we had three rooms with European visitors. When we checked out, we casually mentioned that we were heading for Death Valley. Ten hours later, we checked into our rooms in Death Valley. There was a phone message waiting for us from Boulder Lodge that my mother-in-law had left a small wallet with $700 in euros in the room. But we never told them where we were staying (and we actually all have four different last names and were taking turns making reservations under different names and paying with different credit cards). So how in the world did they find us? Quite simple - they called every single lodging in the entire Death Valley area with our descriptions several times throughout the day, checking in to see if we showed up. That's the kind of people who run the Boulder Lodge. I can't wait to get back.

bad choice
By , 08/31/07
the rooms dirty, broken window screen , spiderwebb ,the deck never been cleaned , the bathroom towels too old, it was too too hot on 4th of july week-end with no ac. or even fan , you cant open the windows because of the gigantic mosquitoes and no window screen. this place need to be demulish and rebuild a decent one.. the location is the only positive thing ,they charge way too much for what you get almost triple thiere regular price beacuse of the holidays.

Hazzard in Room 311B
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/07
The deck at Room 311B has a wonderful view of the lake, but it tilts down. We found a broken support beam. Don't go on the deck! Room 22 is a 3 bedroom cabin with a great view. Unfortunately it has mice. The management set two traps and they were filled quickly. The mice were not the color of the critters we saw running on the floor. Room 201 has a nice view, but it is near office and next door to housekeeping laundry. The dryer vent is just a few feet from the deck. Don't expect quiet in this room; it appears that the houskeepers' children play just outside the bedroom window. The shower ceiling leaks quite a bit of water. The staff are pleasant, but they don't have the authority to issue refunds. They kept referring to the absentee owner when we wanted refund. They called the owner and we eventually got our refund, but only after much hassling.

Great place for family
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/07
WE ENJOY OUR VISIT EVERY YEAR NICE PLACE TO RELAX .The family enjoys the indoor pool. We go fishing in morning take a drive to Mammoth go see some of the other lakes nearby then in afternoon just swim in pool. At dinner time bar b que right outside near your room. The funiture in room old but over all a great place from being in southern calif. smog. and traffic. This is not a high class place or high end hotel just a place to say I will be back.

Comfortable place great view
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/07
I really liked the location and the service. We had a beautiful view of Lake June. THe room itself was in need of some repair. The screen didn't work, a few of the light plates were broken, minor things. My kids loved the pool, I enjoyed the view and room, my husband wasn't crazy about it though. I'll be back if I can talk my husband into it!
